To begin with, i have struggled with weight since i could remember. Going through abuse and trauma when i was younger, food was a relief for me. And since then, food has always been apart of me and a comfort sorce.
Its getting to the point now where i cant STOP eating. I suffer with panic & anxiety attacks, id always eat when feeling anxious or if/or depressed.
I dont have any relitives or close friends to help me in this never ending cycle.
Ive never been confident with myself or exercising. I dont look at myself in the mirror, i hate what i see and always get upset knowing i cant fit into any nice clothes.
i dont go outside. Either the anxiety cripples me or the fear coming from my ASD (Autisic Specrum Disorder) makes me house bound for weeks.
I really dont want too sound to sad here but my Doctor recommended me to site and maybe getting some help
Its to the point where my weight really does need managing. And im scared that one day im just going to kill-over from the weight or a heart attack. And thats why ive taken my doctors advice and put into action of coming onto here for maybe some answers.
I really want to lay this short, as i dont want to take up anyones time. But i really dont know where to start with weight loss.
I want to try.
I am servely obese and i need HELP.
Im new here and im not sure how this works, so please feel free to contact me. Xx

Try not to feel anxious, as we're all friendly, all overweight and all dealing with our own demons. Take everything one step at a time and, before you know it, you'll be turning your life around
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi again Amy, have you any support to help you with things in general?
Hope I am not being too nosy🙂
George
Hi and welcome
Please don't feel worried, we are all here for the same reason, we are a very friendly bunch, there's only support, motivation and help here
Take it slowly, make small achievable changes and don't panic if you have a bad day it's all part of the journey, change 4 life sugar swaps are good, my fitness pal app for calorie counting (its free)
Set small achievable goals and reward yourself for each one you hit (non-food of course) a lipstick, a book, a new perfume.
Get involved in the forum it really does make a difference, join a challenge, weigh in, the daily diary is great for support, help and fantastic ideas, chat, ask questions or just read the posts
Firstly, try to adopt a sense of perspective, by appreciating that the excess currently possessed wasn’t accumulated overnight, so it’s not going to be lost overnight either.
Additionally, through maintenance of a calorie deficit from maximum recommendation (research the BMI calculator and NHS 12 Week Plan), gradually reducing the consumption of sugary/refined produce and increasing level of activity/exercise (even in the comfort of your own home), you’ll hopefully develop greater confidence to step outdoors without the fear of being judged.
I’m saddened to learn that you don’t have any close friends or relatives whom you can rely up on to help you. Fear not, though, having been directed to such a forum by your doctor, you can finally lend upon the expertise and experience of those who make the weight loss forum what is.
By continuing to stick around and remain active, you’ll hopefully gain far more from newly discovered virtual friends, particularly since the forum doesn’t judge.
Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact my fiancé and I haven't set a date yet. I am following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house because I am saving for my wedding and I am in the process of moving. I have lost 5 1/2 lbs in the last 4 weeks. I like this forum and appreciate the support that I get from other members as well as family and friends.
I'm here for the support. Just like you. Keep coming back,, you've tapped into a great community. Baby steps... But now you're walking... We're all right here by your side. X.
Hi Amy, the good news is you've already made a start, you're here!
It'll be a long road and it will need some dedication. Use the reasons as fuel for your determination, and try and separate food as a crutch or reward, food is fuel.
Plan ahead, and count every calorie, they can add up fast if you're not careful, check out MyFitnessPal, a free app that eases the calorie counting burden.
And I too used food as a relief due to abuse I mostly came across at school (and even some at home).
You're definitely not taking up anybody's time, don't worry, love. I'm very glad you've joined, you've come to the right place. I've been here for a couple of days, and they're very supporive. You'll get many useful tips on how you can amend your diet to lose weight.
Your post has motivated me. I'm not alone, and neither are you. Good luck!!
Hi Amy.Welcome.We are a friendly group and it helps being able to communicate with all about our weight and how to follow the diet with calorie counting you will have to be strong and strict with yourself but just follow the plan and soon you will see some results and when you do maybe you will find confidence in yourself. Good luck Amy and keep speaking to us.
