Help my name is Leah I’m starting fresh and need to get on with it.
My weight has always got me down and I try to loose weight and I loose so much and then start putting it back on again. I’m now weighing the heaviest I’ve ever been and it terrifies me, to the point I have look at every extreme way on losing weight. I’m so scared if I can’t do this what I might end up feeling as pretty fed up with myself already

Dear Leah. You are in the right place. We will help & support you. An administrator will be along soon to explain how the site works & how to get support. In a way it’s good to be as fed up with your weight as you are because it will give you the drive to make serious changes. Sugar and carbs are the things driving your weight and gain after loss. Whether you have a stone to lose or 10, a low carb way of eating will get you back into balance. Sugar and carbs are as addictive as cocaine for some people, typically the people with weight issues because of their impact on blood sugar and insulin. They drive a huge appetite, so you eat far too much not because you are a greedy pig, but because you are actually hungry.
Www.carbdodging.com explains how this works In the body & the amazing story of an obese GP who shrank to skinny on this diet., dietdoctor.com has lots of advice on how to eat low carb.
This is radical because it’s not a low fat diet. You are encouraged to eat full fat everything but no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and not lots of fruit. There’s no calorie counting, but no little treats so you don’t feel deprived. You will eat beef, and cheese and eggs and vegetables in butter and those are the things that will fill you up and stop you feeling ‘deprived’ - not little diet bars. I used to think that this diet was the sort of ridiculous thing that Pippa Middleton and other celebs did - having given it a go, it’s changed my life. As well as getting back on my jeans, I feel very well on it indeed.
Not everyone on this site eats low carb, but a growing number of us do.
Thank you for taking the time to reply , I’m so confused by all different ways of losing weight I literally thought healthy eating more fruit and veg and drink water but obviously know now there’s more too it. I have got my self some healthy replacement shakes (non branded) as a kickstarter for myself as i need to start seeing results
Like Moreless says below, shakes are no answer I am afraid. Check the ingredients. Do you know what all that stuff is? I should also have said that to lose weight you’ll need to be cooking your own food from raw ingredients as much as possible.
Slim_for_good has given you some excellent advice and I would add that replacement shakes are neither healthy, nor helpful. They don't teach you anything about healthy eating and are the basis of a very low calorie diet which will mess with your metabolism and encourage your yoyo dieting. Have a look at these and see if they can offer you some insight healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
I've just joined too and feel exactly the same as you. Fed up being fat and I'm the fattest I've ever been. Every time I think I'm going to do something about it I self sabotage my efforts because I don't think I can do it. However I am writing my shopping list for this weekend and I'm concentrating on buying items that don't spike my blood sugar. I've just found this article which is really useful:
There are a couple of recipes for desserts in it too which I'm going to try. I am normally fine during the day but when the evening comes I tend to snack after dinner. Once I conquer that I'm sure I will be fine.
I will think about you trying to change your habits and that will help me.
Firstly, well done for taking this step towards losing weight.
I know it feels stressful and you are really wanting to loose weight but, try to think of it as a journey and that people here are also on their own journey and that we are in the same boat. We've all been disappointed with ourselves for putting on weight, that's why we are here.
