Edit: Oh, I see that Bridgegirl welcomed you already. I missed her reply.
Hi there - fellow brit here!
Sorry to hear you had a difficult year, and well done for making a decision to change things for the better. What plan will you follow to help you lose weight if I can ask?
Having your birthday in April is a great milestone to set yourself a goal of making some sustainable changes between now and then, before approaching the rest of the year. My advice is to not put pressure on yourself by focusing on the whole 4 stone. Just aim for that first half stone, or even a few lbs to get yourself started.
You mentioned too that you lost the weight before, how did you achieve that? It's always good to look at your achievements from the past. I'd also say to release any guilt or shame attached to regaining the weight. Look forwards to the amazing things you will do, not behind
I did WW before …. I’ve downloaded the body coach app but tbh I’m not sure what I’ll follow… but I’ll focus on the first stone !!! My back ache is definitely linked to my weight gain….so I see a New Year as being a time to re focus & get life back on track!
As someone who suffers from back pain, I realise it can be horrible. I have a herniated disc and have to be careful not to do too much of certain exercises, but walking helps a lot. Perhaps that's something you could introduce?
Also, bringing awareness to your eating often helps to highlight areas to make some easy changes to get results immediately. You could consider keeping a food journal maybe?!
I was very fit… but life got in the way…but I’ve got to find my enthusiasm for getting out there again… be it swimming.. walking etc ..,& yes a food journal is what I’m going to do…!!! At 58 I need to get back on track !!
thankyou…1st Body coach work out completed!!!!
Sounds exactly like me . 58 brought hiatus hernia op and after that shock brought I must do this for me . Fast forward to 63 and I am so glad I did it - so are my 5 sons as it stops them worrying now they see a slimmer mum who is fitter , healthier but still enjoys a slap up meal and the odd box of chocolates but I have now noticed they will buy me jumpers and hoodies now they don't have to shop for XXL . Never realised my family worried until I actually began to look different .
I refuse to 'diet '. I love food . So simply no snacks . 3 main courses - no starters , no puddings as I have yogurt with my breakfast as well as my fruit portion . I have any tasty things as sides to replace say carbs or those 2 slices of bread are a filled sandwich not ' on the side' . Didn't find it hard to say goodbye to 18kg and now maintain with a 12kg loss as don't exercise as madly .
Summer will address 3/4 kg as I hate winter . I tend to stay more indoors but come April / May my bike will be dusted down . back to all day walks too .
Hi, I'm in my 60s and I have about the same to lose. Cheers to us! Here's to a happier, healthier and thinner 2024 Sue
we should buddy up!!
