I just got weighed after my first week, eating well, joined a gym, attended classes and swum 100 lengths. I feel loads better and felt sure I’d lost weight but the scales say the same! Gutted 🤨

Feeling disappointed
Please don’t feel disappointed don’t concentrate on weight loss it’s how you feel not weight it will start coming off but expect to much to soon don’t be too hard on your self you have done a lot in one week Rainbowskies24 good remember it’s how you feel xxx
Welcome Rainbowskies Like the name and don't worry as there is a pot of gold at the end
You've started off well and there could be many reasons why you're not showing a weight loss. Maybe one of them is that you still need to adjust the amount you eat but possibly related to the amount of exercise you've managed to achieve which tends to lead to a temporary increase in the amount of water retained.
If you're happy posting each day's menu, then give a thought about joining us in today's Daily Diary... healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and you can get any constructive feedback.... if only to say 'spot on!'
Good luck!
Thank you so much! I won’t let the weigh in discourage me. Onwards and upwards. Thank you for taking the time to message, it makes such a difference realising there are people wanting the best for each other 🙂
Good morning, Rainbowskies24, and welcome to the forum
You've already had some encouraging replies and I'm sure you'll stick with it.
It may be that you will see different views here on what constitutes "eating well": I am among many members who arrived thinking I knew how to do it and have since completely revised my views.
You'll find all you need to use the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... recommend joining a weekly weigh in team and using the Daily Diary to share you meal plans and see what others are planning.
All the best
Good
Morning, my weight was really
Slow at the beginning. That was November. I have lost 18 pounds now. Feel amazing except for the usual
Aches and Pains. By the way I
Joined Slimming World. Weight wouldn’t budge at the beginning. So keep going.
Stick with it and it might take a while to adjust to losing weight or for your body to catch up with all the good you are doing!
Chat about your meal plans as that could help with ideas. You will loose weight.
Morning
Like others have said working out makes me gain too- specially if I do weight training. its usually gone again after 24/48 hours I assume its how my body repairs after I stress it exercising.
I also gain 3-5lb as the wrong time of the month approaches ... but it all goes with more on top in the days following.
Don't let a slow start or a little blip on the scales put you off - feel your clothes fitting better or enjoy the feeling when you can do those laps in pool easier each time you go ... there are other measurements to be happy with than just the scales.
Regardless of any of those things you can tell yourself that you are off your bum actively doing something to improve yourself so you are already head and shoulders above the old you that may of stayed home eating crap on the sofa watching TV! ( ...thats the little conversation I have with myself every time I walk through the gym doors - and its working for me)
Fingers crossed for the scales for you next week ...keep going
Morning Rainbowskies24 You are doing a great job in joining this forum! Hope you also are measuring yourself as this is also a good way of looking at your weight loss journey. Sometimes the body just needs a little time to adjust It is like it is say "no...no....no...." and then suddenly realise that this is a new way of living and it has a WHOOSHH moment where you start losing the weight and cms.
Just keep staying strong and I am sure your Whoosh moment is on its way!!!
I've downloaded this app called lose it! it's free and keeps track of your daily intake. It's made it so much easier as it has almost all the foods you eat. It keeps me motivated as well. I lost 2lbs first week. sometimes we think we know exactly how many calories we've eaten but can get a bit difficult keeping track. Give this app a go and see how you get on!
Your blood volume increases when you start exercising. Staying the same almost certainly means you have lost fat. Stick with it for a few weeks, and then reassess.
Make sure you measure you waist so you have other ways of tracking the changes.
