Hello and welcome to you, too, Pointbreak77 :)

When I joined the forum a couple of years ago I was confident I knew what to eat and it just came down to my lack of willpower. As I learned over time that what I "knew" was pretty misguided, I was able to make changes that I can enjoy for life, while losing weight along the way. The main thing I learned was that fat doesn't make you fat :)

Here's something you might find useful before you decide how to go about your weight loss plan psychologytoday.com/us/blog...

You'll find all you need to know about the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I recommend joining a weekly weigh-in and using the Daily Diary.

Wishing you well in 2020 :)

Here's another one I've just found about the role of hormones healthline.com/nutrition/9-...

Hello and welcome, Weightintime :)

You've learned a lot from those unsuccessful attempts so I'd say you need to find a different way. And I'd also say that it's diets that have failed you, not you who have failed.

Here's something that might apply to you healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and this gives further information on the same lines phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

To make the most of the forum, I recommend joining a weekly weigh-in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary to share your meal plans. You'll find them and everything else you need to know about the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Reading posts, replying, asking questions and encouraging others will all help you along the way so I hope we see you around :)

I’ve spent 20 years trying different diets and would usually lose about 2 stone then put it back on. 5:2, weight watchers, SlimmingWorld etc but finally I’m 5 stone lighter having followed for about 4th time SlimmingWorld but with change of mindset. I reminded myself that I’d got to change habits for good, not let bad day be excuses to pig out for week and find what filled me up and everyone is different. For me it’s protein that satisfies me. I’ve learnt to eat slower and leave food on plate when recognising I’m actually full! Forget past diet failures the future is possible and doable 😊🎉 you taken the first step

Thank you, Aussieblues reading what you've put sounds like the same road I've been on, i do feel more in mind this time, think it was when i went swimming and saw myself that was the lightening bolt i needed, but your right it does feel different like its something i want to do not got to do , thank you again i m loving it on here already

Hi Weightintime and welcome :)

It makes me sad when people think that they're failing, probably because of something they're doing wrong. Stick around, try to read through everything that BridgeGirl has linked for you (knowledge is key) and decide if you can see a way forward.

Apart from that, join in as much as you can, and apart from the Weekly Weigh-in, the Daily Diary is a good place to start :)

Best of luck!

Hi Weightintime and Pointbreak77 , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Hiya. It's just not easy is it. I find Intermittent fasting works best for me for a slow and steady loss. It let's me have a nice filling meal at dinner time. No snacking, as rubbish has always been my problem. Good luck
