You have the right attitude, it's not just about losing weight but about keeping it lost so it's best to think in terms of a lifestyle change, rather than a diet.
I don't know if you have a plan in mind to help with weight loss but if you've heard that it comes down to 'eat less, move more' this explains why this often fails us psychologytoday.com/us/blog... My recommendation would be to eat real food, home cooked, avoiding processed foods - and that includes anything labelled low fat or light or diet as it's all heavily processed.

Welcome Lucym287 i recommend joining weekly weigh ins, maybe the NHS 12 week plan as it’s free step at a time manageable way to lose weight and also the happiness challenge posted by HealthyTanja its great.

Hi Lucy I only started 3 days ago managed to hit my exercise goal each day before letting myself off the hook with my daughters birthday cake one day and the Christmas Panettone the next but I am determined to do better. We are all here to support each other so as the old saying goes if at first you don’t succeed try try again. I’m going to stop finding excuses for myself and get my resolve built up so I can and will reach my weight and inches loss goals
It’s the same with me I need to stop finding excuses I’m determined to go into this new decade a happier healthier version of myself x

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
