Hey lovely people, I’m on my first week. Quit smoking 3 months ago so now it’s time to get the weight off. Only 4 stone to go. Feeling motivated, went to the beach yesterday and didn’t even have an ice cream or chips . Good to know there’s support here because no doubt I’ll hit a difficult week at some point. But for now, hi and nice to be here xx

Welcome Teaholic and huge congrats on giving up smoking. If you can do that, then eating healthily is going to be a doddle
Well done too on avoiding the ice cream and chips.
It's good to get support and don't forget there are others here who'd love some kind words and support from you too
An administrator will reply shortly and my only tip for now would be to thoroughly read what they might have to say, including any links and you'll have made a good start towards your goals.
Good morning, Teaholic, and welcome to the forum
Well done on stopping smoking. You've done yourself the biggest favour there and, if you can turn that commitment to changing your eating habits, you'll do great.
There is a lot of support and information here, so do make good use of it. I suggest you start by reading this, which explains why it's harder to lose weight as we get older healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and this one, which advises on a way forward phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
To help you find your way around the forum, we've put together this Welcome post healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Why not join a weekly weigh in over the weekend, and have a look at the Daily Diary to see how members are planning their meals - join in when you're ready.

Hi, Teaholic , Welcome.
Cut down on Grains, Potato and Sugar... and do not eat junk or diet food.
What works for many of us here is a combination of the Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Eating All Day aka Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi Teaholic, and welcome! Well done on giving up smoking, that's a huge achievement on its own and one you'll definitely benefit from!
Joining this forum is another massive benefit, the support and advice here are amazing. Take it one day at a time, plan your meals as much as you can and you'll soon be in the swing of things!
You are so inspiring! I am gonna try to quit smoking too! What worked for you?
I really couldn’t afford it. Been smoking since I was 12, now 51, smoked 20 a day. Watched the Allen Carr dvd, ( not the comedian) it explains what nicotine does. Threw my remaining 3 fags in bin. I still fancy one but won’t have one because I’d have to start all over again. To be honest I like the freedom of not being tied to a packet of fags. And my legs aren’t blue lol. Put a stone on through feeling like I was missing something, so I might as well get the other 3 stone off too. Thank you, I never ever saw me quitting, it was suddenly like realising you’re poisoning yourself. Weird. X
