I’m following the Couch 2 5k program and was hoping to see some change either to the tape measure or scales but , alas neither is happening. I’ve reduced alcohol intake, allowing myself a tipple at weekends (2 glasses of Prosecco last night) I’ve eaten between 1200-1500 jacks daily for the last 11 years and yet I’m still a high BMI (overweight). Just wonder if anyone has a success story from a similar starting point.
Thank you x

Hi Rosie, I’ve recently been told I’m pre diabetic so have been trying intermittent fasting. I can’t get on with calorie counting so have been doing 16:8 where you fit all your eating into 8 hours of the day. I generally eat between midday and 8pm and have mainly cut out refined white carbs like white bread and pasta. I’ve lost about 10lb in 2 months while following C25K as well. It could have been more but I have to relax a bit at weekends to make it sustainable. Cutting out bread has made me change my diet quite drastically as I was a toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, pasta for tea type of person but I feel so much better on it. Michael Mosley’s books fast800 and 5:2 started me on this but I tweak the ideas to suit me.
Thank you BB. That’s a great weight loss. Well done. I did try 5:2 IF last year and found that after 3 weeks good results there was no more change. The 16:8 model sounds worth a try. Thank you.
We don't know any details about you, that would give us some clues, ie how old you are, or what you've been eating. It's also true that the BMI is only a guide, so if you're quite muscly, you may be at your ideal weight already.
1200 - 1500 calories is very low, unless you're very short. If you eat too little, too long, you alter your metabolism and your body will learn to live on less and will store its fat reserves. Have a look at these, to support what I've said
It's also best not to consider exercise a weight loss tool, just part of a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you moreless. There’s certainly plenty to get me thinking there.
About me: 47 years old and 5”5, I sit at a desk most of my working day. Breakfast is muesli, and green homemade smoothie or a salad for lunch are my staples. I then use low gi & low fat recipes for family dinners, all freshly prepared and cooked. We have a take away on alternate weeks so my family don’t completely hate me!
I think if you've been trying this method for over 11 years, it's safe to say that it's not going to work for you and that it's time to try something different.
My guesstimate is that you should have been eating about 1600 calories, but would suggest the LCHF route for a more successful outcome. Have a look at the forum, for more information healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet
My success story started in 2016 and my weight was 125 kg. After an effort in a year-long exercise, I was able to reach a weight of 90 kg. I was in weight but only got back to the zero area again but I made a decision again to challenge myself again. To return to the normal weight is 87 kg. I hope you will follow how I will do you again. just support me
I will share my story in order to motivate anyone who wants to change his feelings for himself and he can do it.
