Hi there! I’ve just downloaded the app. I’m going to start the 12 week fitness and diet plan from this Monday.
At my lightest I was a healthy 12st female. I then experienced 3 massive family losses, 1 after the other over a 4 year period, including my dad who was my best friend back in 2018. Since then I ate my feelings away in chocolate and takeaways! I then had an emotional breakdown back in February 2020.
I’m now over 18st in weight at the age of 26 and I am so unhappy in the way I look. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been.
I’d love to hear some positive feedback on how the 12 week plan has helped others. I’d also love to hear any tips on how to stick to it! I am very good at falling off the wagon!
Thanks for reading!

Hi, you are really in the right place for lots of support from lots of lovely people. It has really helped me stay on track and keep my focus. Whatever your healthy eating plan, the people here will give you lots of ideas and a good laugh too. Welcome and good luck on the start of your journey. 😀
I am now into week 5 of the plan. I like the way recording daily totals has made me accountable. But am struggling to get as active as I should be. I am glad I joined and hope you will be too.
After such a tough few years, I’m pleased you are now in a place where you feel able to take this positive step for your own wellbeing. Do let us know how you get on.
Hi Minty29 and welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.
Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.
I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.
You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.
Thank you too all the lovely comments so far! Just getting my head around how the site works at the moment! But I definitely think having somewhere to come and talk to people going through the same plans will really help! Xx
I'm currently on week 8 of the nhs plan, and have lost 9 lbs. Best tips, plan your meals, budget calories for the day, including snacks. Join with others in a weekly weigh in, other folks keep you going!

Hi hevs, you’ll find a lot of support on here especially if you join a weekly weigh in ( I go to Sunday)
I also got 12 wks free WW from gp for more accountability and go to a weekly meeting and online zoom meeting . That means that three days a week I have some weight loss accountability reminders . I don’t follow WW ( they don’t know !) I’m in ( or trying ) 1400cal and 50g carbs and intermittent fasting from 10pm to 12 noon following day. I’m also vegetarian
I found ( for me) that if I eat and sugar or fruit I find it a challenge to stop eating . This week I made apple purée from fallen apples from my tree. Apples are high carb but as they were free.... !! Anyway adding a tablespoon to my plain Greek yoghurt with some truvia was so tasty I lost control of my calories . I gave all my purée away , I couldn’t have it in the house !!!
The only fruit I can have is strawberry blackberry and raspberry. I have these frozen in the winter as it’s cheaper and less air miles. If just goes to say that a calorie is not just a calorie , where it comes from makes a big difference. If you can get your carbs really low you will find you can stick to calorie deficit without feeling hungry .. but you can’t have a cheat day or you’re back to square one. For me, lowering calories without lowering carbs led to impossible hunger both mouth hunger and stomach hunger.
I don’t actually know how much I weigh , I just get told each week how much I’ve lost at WW.
Like you I’ve gained a lot . In 2018 I weighed about 260 pounds after a very stressful few years. I went on a strict diet and excercise plan and between 14/4/18 and feb 2019 I lost 100 pounds. By doing the same as I’m doing now PLUS daily 30 minute hiit excercise and 3/4 times a week weights . Weights are really important as if you can maintain your muscle mass you can prevent yourself lowering your metabolism too much .
... then I had some knock backs,, my husband abandoned me without even leaving a note to say goodbye , I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and spent 6 months unable to move. As an upshot I ate for Britain and am back where i started in April 2018 but now disabled .
I think I started ( based on clothes size 22-24 at 5 ‘7” ) at 260 pounds and have lost 13 pounds since 27/8 ( a month ) just through diet alone . I’d like to go back to doing weights but as a shielder I’m not going anywhere except for work.
Join us at the Sunday slimmers weigh in today it’s a great group and we will all be here for you over the next year until you reach goal .
Just imagine being super slim fit for next summer !!
Hi hevs26. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I can understand how it turned your life upside down. I’m an emotional eater too and have been overweight most of my life (in my 50s now). Imparting my words of wisdom ... go for it now. Ask yourself what are you waiting for? I fell off the wagon numerous times and didn’t get back on for months or years. If you have a bad day, start again tomorrow and don’t give up. Keep yourself very busy to avoid snacking. My go to fill up is a couple of boiled eggs. Keep me feeling full (May be bloating but I don’t care as I tend not to eat for a few hours after). Go for a daily walk and drink plenty of water.
I’m still not great at all this myself, but I’m pushing hard now as I’m trying to stave off diabetes.
Good luck with your journey. This forum is great for encouragement.
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been through such a sad time, I hope you are doing better now?! I would suggest downloading a app called lose it or my fitness pal I prefer lose it, track everything you eat and drink on there.... then just fill in the 12 week app day by day with your calories for the day, then hopefully by the end of it you will have lost some weight 🙌🏻 x
