Here we go!!

Hi. Just joined. I'm 53 years old with a mostly desk job. I am not very active. I have tried all diets going but don't want to look on this as a diet. I need to change my eating habits, but more so my drinking habits!!

My son is getting married in 12 months. I wish to lose 3 stone in that time which is just under a pound a week. I feel that this would be achievable. Fingers crossed for me!!

Healthy eating is the way forward and far more sustainable than any diet. Why not join in with todays weigh in and record your start weight and then update every week it really helps me keep motivated and focussed. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Just click on reply to Pineapple27 and record your start weight. I look forward to following your journey.

Welcome here, the forum is really helpful and encouraging. The speed you are aiming to lose weight at sounds like the speed I have managed in 2018. I lost a good 19kg in just over 12 months, at a rate of c. 1.5 kg (just over 3lbs) per month. I find eating about 80% of what I need to feel full has been an easy rule of thumb to follow. I also avoid calories after dinner, so herbal teas instead of alcohol and no snack in the evening. During the day I find it important to eat enough, so I don't get hungry. Or if I do, I eat there and then rather than waiting. That way I avoid the "bad calories".. Good luck and a good start!
