Here we go again

So we are now in 2014 and I weigh 13stones I have been talking about weightloss for almost a year and halfheartedly tried to lose weight. Truth is though that I am greedy, I eat without thinking and even when my brain says 'no', I continue to eat. I want to say enough is enough, but I know that talking like that is useless to me.

So instead I am starting the NHS diet and just going to take it one day at a time. Here we go!

One day at a time sounds like a good plan to me. I'm starting my healthy eating tomorrow and doing it alongside the NHS couch to 5k and strength and flexibility podcasts. I have done the diet bit loads of time but this time I'm gonna kick ass with exercise too as I believe this is my secret weapon! Eat less AND move more (the bit I always put off but not anymore)

Go for it. - become the person you want to be - it's your future, your choices :-)

I'm the same. I'm an emotional eater, binge eater, secret eater and food has always controlled me rather than me control food. I was brought up to finish my meal and not waste food so my problems are deep rooted!

But I am determined to take control this year. No drastic changes that lead to failure but I will do the 12 week plan, ease in to the exercise gently and one day at a time.

Good luck and I will be around to see how you are getting on

I think it IS a waste of food to eat food you don't want, which does not benefit you at all except to stick on to your fat cells. This is a wrong way of thinking.

hi and welcome. It takes time to learn new habits so taking it a day at a time is the best way to go. I've lost weight by calorie counting and exercise - for me, the two go hand in hand and are becoming a way of life. I've done the 'eating without thinking' so many times in the past due to comfort eating and boredom! Being mindful of what you eat and taking time to enjoy and savour it have really helped. Also, try distracting yourself from food - painting your nails, reading, housework anything really. Its tough going when you first start but it does get easier and you have to persevere. Good luck!

thank you all. Old habits die hard, but I hoping to build new ones. Will try the distraction technique.
