Hi I have just found this site, I was told about "lose weight feel great"at my surgery I had health check and told I was overweight, I did of course know that, my cholesterol had gone up and it was suggested I could start a weight management programme for free, however I have never rung to find out more or join! That was about 7 months ago. I retired last September, had sedentary job, have arthritis in my knee and hip, never liked the idea of going to a gym and in the past been much lighter, but after losing weight put it back on over a number of years, I accept that my clothes size has increased over the years. I have recently felt low in mood but not linked to my weight I hasten to add but more feeling old.and realise it is up to me only me to take control, maybe focus on my weight positively may help my low mood?? Or make it worse, I don't know, but thinking of ringing up to join, psychologically I have all the answers in theory, but in practise.........................

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Trustprocess 😊

First of all, to help you find your way around, and enjoy all the things we have on offer, please read the Welcome Newbies Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of information.

You are definitely not alone in losing then gaining weight, I have had 40 years on that see-saw! This time I have followed a much more generous eating plan, and focussed on getting healthier, not on being perfct, just making small improvements. So, check your own personal calorie target on the NHS BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the single biggest cause of weight loss failure. Then take a look at our Daily Diary for suggestions on making changes to what you eat to optimise good health.

I also highly recomend coming onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss

And then if you feel you can, phone about the weight management scheme, that’s how I started, and I found it very useful

For your own privacy and safety online we suggest that you to lock your posts by selecting ‘followers in my community’ when you write a new post. Please read our security post here. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Out of interest, can I ask how you found us?

Best wishes for your weight loss journey

Indigo 😊

Hi I can relate to many aspects you touch on.... I've just retired rather cheekily at 55 (ssshh! don't tell everyone.) I think I feel like I don't know or like this version of me, not been here before! But I do want to invest in being as healthy as I can for the future years. Umm got some thinking to do.... Keep me posted with your journey. 🍀

I also retired early and it took some adjusting but I love it now 😊. Being slimmer and healthier certainly makes me feel younger!!

Good luck
