Hello , I am a new to this site. At the moment I am feeling pretty low. I am on furlough and not sure what the future holds. I am 62 and very overweight and put over another stone on during lockdown. I have lost weight and put it back on numerous times over the years and can talk a very good diet and exercise routine but at the moment putting it in to practice has failed me. I have come across your website and would welcome any inspiration and support to get me kickstarted Into a healthier lifestyle that can hopefully lift my mood and get me back on track to becoming more heathy.

Hi and welcome, H0p3full
Many of us arrived here after years of yoyo dieting thinking we knew all there was to know about healthy eating and that the failure to sustain any weight loss was down to our failure to stop being greedy and lazy. Fortunately, we now know differently and the truth is, the things we've been told are good for us, are in fact not and vice versa. Have a look at these:

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
Thank you for your reply moreless . The skinny in obesity made interesting reading. I will try to become an active member once I have worked out how to navigate myself round the forum. Technology is not my forte but I am learning.🙂

It's a stressful time for many, with uncertainty being way up there in terms of stress. I hope you soon have a sense of the way forward, re work and everything else in your life.
I'm going to question something you wrote, that you "can talk a very good diet". I'd suggest it's worth re-thinking your idea of a good diet. It hasn't done you much good so far Instead of thinking you've failed/lacked willpower, how about considering that the "good diet" wasn't so good after all, and it failed you?
You're in a position to make changes and you sound like you want to turn things round so I highly recommend that you take your time reading and viewing everything that moreless has given you. It could be a turning point for you as it has been for me and many others here.
Hello Bridgegirl, thanks for your reply . When I said I could talk a good diet I meant it tongue in cheek as I have studied relentlessly varies diets over time ie Atkins, low fat , low carb. Cambridge and as you say not good as I put the weight back on . What I need is a lifestyle change and hopefully this is it and will like yourself be the turning point for me. 🙂
I agree with the point that people don't fail diets, diets fail people.
Well worth checking out the Skinny video that moreless shared, it's a game changer. 😄
These times are unprecedented and being under this kind of stress is never good for your health . I received a shielding letter back in March but I ended up working through the pandemic because i was so worried about what would happen to my job if I didn't work.
These are worrying times for alot of people . Do not think you are on your own the majority of us are in similar situations to yourself . Try and stay focused and fill your time with things that you enjoy doing .
You only live once ,!!!
I think we are in the same club! I can tell the different calories in a large medium or small egg , try lots of ways to reduce hidden calories then spoil it all ....seem to be ok if I. Staying with someone who just serves up food for me!!! Onwards and upwards...or downwards..
