In recent months I have felt my health deteriorating in the form of both my weight issue and mood which I suppose are actually linked with one another. I am 31 years old currently and with various events upcoming this year I tried on a pair of trousers that are waist 38 to discover they were really tight. I knew I'd put on weight over the past year but it didn't really hit me until this morning when I weighed myself to discover I am 15 stone 4 with a waist that is now 44inches and according to some research my BMI is now 35. Throughout the majority of today I should point out I've been in a low mood because of this realisation.
Over the past years I have attempted various diets obviously without any real success hence the reason I have decided I actually need some motivational help. I easily have a large appetite as some days I can consume far more calories that I actually burn off through exercise or simply by sitting around. I also don't have the healthiest of food eating habits anyway because many things that are considered to be healthy in moderation such as Pasta or Rice I do not like. Instead I tend to eat a lot of meat and potato's as typical daily meals.
I plan to make another attempt starting tomorrow (Weds 10th May) so any assistance would be appreciated.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi, thanks for your long intro - I do love lots of info! Welcome, I hope you will be happy here. I wouldn't 'plan to attempt' - sounds like you expect to fail! I would commit to starting a new healthy eating lifestyle! I personally don't eat bread, pasta, rice. I eat high protein and lots of veg, milk and natural yogurt. It's not exciting but I relax on holiday every 8 weeks and eat junk then! Whatever choices you make you need to eat less than you burn otherwise you will stay still or worse still gain! I know you know this - we all know it, it's the doing it that we need support with. I hope you find the forum useful. Be active on here and give as good as you get and you will flourish. 🤞
Hi chris140885 you are in good company on this forum, keep logging in and get involved as much as possible.. Warning.. It can get addictive!! But do enjoy the different posts and learn from the comments made.
Don't choose a diet plan that will be too hard for you.. Choose to do what you like the look of and you are more likely to stick with it.
Hi George I am doing alright, finally found what I am allergic to!! Relief, I can now counteract it!! Looking forward to your next weigh in... You are doing so well, Keep up the good work and I'm glad you enjoyed your Indian meal. So tasty!! Have a great Wednesday.
Hi, Chris and welcome! Have a look at some low GI recipes - you can google for that - or just try and eat smaller portions to begin with. And keep posting, especially if you find the "magic bullet". Good luck!
Unfortunately I've not been very well the last few weeks and was even sent for a blood test although for the time being that has come back 'Normal' whatever normal is meant to mean nowadays. Anyway I've brought some Slimfast stuff and start tomorrow. Thanks for checking in on me
Is the slimfast to help you eat something quick and nourishing as your not feeling too good? I hope you get your appetite and eating into a good routine Soon and start to see results you will be happy with.
The slimfast I brought is the powder to drink to start me off so that it helps cut down my dependence/obsession with food. Because I'm fussy with what sort of food I eat many of the healthier options are a complete miss for me. Proven by the fact that the only vegetables I even like are Peas and Carrots.
