I am new to this community and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 24 years young and currently working in Central London as a receptionist administrator.
When I was younger I was relatively active and loved the fact that my high metabolism meant that I could eat whatever I wanted and barely put any weight on. I was always a size 8-10 and felt comfortable with that, however I am now in size 12 pants and it feels like I am in someone else's skin. It makes me feel upset and confused and frustrated with myself.
I used to do modelling and stopped as I felt I wasn't going anywhere as I was putting on more and more weight. I didn't want to be one of those models that practically starved themselves to be able to fit into the 'modelling image'
Anyway, I'm looking to tone up and lose a bit of weight, I just find it difficult to get motivated at times as I have been known to have 'down days' due to my anxiety. I'm also a HUGE lover of chocolate and takeouts...I know, it's awful.
I hope to find some friends here and to hopefully get that kick up the butt to really commit to working out at home rather than only doing my dance class on Friday evenings.

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link
It's great that you've decided to take control before you've gotten too out of control! I'm with you on the take out front, but am at the stage of my life where I just don't have the money to have as many take outs as I would like!
I would highly recommend the NHS 12-week plan. I've found it very helpful and that the calorie counting means your favorite things aren't necessarily out of bounds so much as just curtailed.
Good luck!
Just out of curiosity, what kind of dance do you do?
It's so much fun and definitely a workout and a half. I finished the latest song we were learning yesterday and I was aching so hard on my way home but it was so worth it. I really didn't care that I looked like crap and was covered in sweat - it really is one of the best things haha - I love dancing to work out but have found some 30 day challenges that look quite interesting on Pinterest that I'm going to try
Hi I hope you enjoy the support you get from this site. I have been on it for a few weeks and have had lots of good advice.
You have taken the first step In realising you want to change. So that’s a big thing well done. There are lots of books on the topic of the how we are creatures of habit. And to understand the triangle of this process is one of the best things I have learned. WeFor example we go into the kitchen and the first thing we do is open the fridge. We may not be hungry but we see our chocolate store. We grab one and eat it. We deserve it don’t we. After all we work all day work out once a week etc etc etc. Then we regret it. The thing is we have to learn the feeling of going into the kitchen and opening the fridge is the start of the triangle. Once we learn this we can move the chocolate and put other fruit or carrots treats there instead. Or open a different door in the kitchen the idea is to break the habit after realising we have one.Sorry about the ramble but I have just learned this and putting it down out of my head I realise that this triangle of triggers /action /reward can be all over our daily lives what we have to do is make it positive and work for us not against us
I completely get it Royo. I have loads of melt in the middle chocolate puds in the fridge...I've tried eating really healthy before at the beginning of the year but it made my skin worse and I felt sluggish. It's difficult to find the balance.
The 12 week plan really worked for me - I'd reccomend it. I like choc and meals out too - you can build it all in easily, you just have to count the calories. I add mine over a whole weeks average to make daily fluctuations (like at the weekend!) a bit easier!
