I am here in desperation... I have a few chronic health conditions and have put on over three stone in weight. I'm 55 and have never dieted in my life but I know I need to do something fast.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with the weigh ins etc and how I join in.
Thanks
Denise

Hi and welcome
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Hi Indigo_bella, like you I am a newbie and am in deperation to lose weight. Only been one week and have lots of support and joined the WWW weigh in. This is a great site for inspiration and support. Good luck with everything
Thanks, I'm starting today. Just done my weigh in and I'm shocked to see how much weight I've actually put on. But today is the day of ... as they say x
I'm sad to say when I weighed in today that I've put almost five stone on since getting ill. I'm not aiming to lose it all but I feel I need to lose at least three and a half stone but my first goal is to lose one stone x
Hey indigo_bella, I know how you feel. I bought this lovely dress at the end of October and when I wanted to take it away on holiday for Christmas I couldnt do the zip up at all. I was shocked disappointed and upset. Moreso when I gained even more weight afterwards and couldnt fit into other clothes. At times I wish I could lose it all like now but know thats not the way. Remember too, that when you are sick that you dont move as much and that the metabolism slows down. Thats why we have joined this site for the encourgement and support for when we do lose and when we dont. x
