Welcome Kay. You will find lots of support here. One of my tips is to measure yourself and write it down and take a photo, too. This will help you to celebrate your success, even if sometimes when you weigh yourself you have not lost much (or any). Also, I got out all my trousers last week and labelled up the ones I cannot wear yet, with the date and my weight, so I can measure my progress by wearing them. Also, don't undereat - you should eat your calorie allowance. I have been finding it difficult to manage to eat 1400 calories, which seems ridiculous to me, given I have spent a lifetime eating just a little too much! Good luck!

hi Kimj30 . Thank you for welcoming me to the group . What a excellent ideal i have lots of clothes that no longer fit . I might do the same . Thank you .

Hi Kay and welcome,

I'm going to give the generic information we give out to all Newbies, which is this:

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's, our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

Best of luck :-)

There are a variety of methods being used by users of this forum- weight watchers, slimmers world, various variations of 5:2, low carb and NHS 12 week weight loss plan which is calorie counting. There is no right or wrong way of loosing weight, as long as it gradual- 1-2lbs per week and choose realistic weight loss goals. There are challenges to help with motivation and weekly weigh in on every day of the week as well as recipe tips- look at the topics section on the right if on a computer or at the bottom via the app.

if things are going well or not and you want a moan then post there will be praise, suggestions and if need be a reality check

Hi RG07 Thank you for the advice . I will look forward to posting good news hopefully .

Hi and welcome Kayann69

Wishing you all the best on your weightloss journey :) Isou7000 has given you some great advice

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker( a link to this can be found in the Welcome Newbies thread ;) ) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
