Hi, I hope everyone's well. I'm completely new to this but after reading someones story thought I could do with some advice and guidance.
I am 19 years old and currently weigh 90kgs around 30kgs overweight. In 2015 when i was 16 I weighed around 56kg, ever since I started college and uni my weight has gone up real fast. I feel it's probably due to all my lifestyle changes as I'll usually grab fast food as im on the run or I won't eat a decent meal all day, snack on chocolate and have a huge meal at 8pm ish when I get home. I also drive instead of walk to college etc. Nothing really motivates me to loose weight but I feel extremely disheartened when at a party or wedding or any celebration I can't wear the same clothes as my cousins and sisters because it just doesn't look right anymore. I get less support and more telling offs from my family for putting so much weight on ๐๐๐I've refused to get married as I'd like to look decent on my wedding day and at this size that's impossible, I barely attend weddings as I dont want everyone to see me in this size and I definitely don't want to be graduating like this.
I try and diet but my diets rarely last more than a week usually just a couple of days...does anyone have any advice as to how I should motivate myself and actually lose weight that will stay off

I think you may have summed it up when you mentioned your lifestyle changes. Most people here don't look upon what they're doing as a 'diet' but as a 'lifestyle change'.
An administrator will reply to your post and provide you with a potential path you can take, together with lots of useful information on how you can get the best from this site.
As a uni student, I suspect you're used to assimilating info and working out how best to use it. What's there will help you towards making a more positive lifestyle change.
if you really want to lose weight you have to feel positive that you can do it. Also remember the process takes time and effort.
The past week I've just started entering what I eat using MyFitnessPal app on my phone, and tracking my steps using a counter.
Adding these steps to the app gives me an idea of how much else I can eat today.
It's quite fun - I can look up if I have walked enough for a G and T and a small portion of peanuts or if I had better eat a carrot and have some sparkling water.
As I said it's just been a week and for me a least it's much nicer to eat that biscuit and enter it in the app than worry that I can't eat ANYTHING unhealthy until the diet has finished. Also, knowing how much a biscuit costs in calories makes it easier to resist eating the whole packet each night which certainly contributed to how I gained the shocking amount of weight in the past few years.
Ok so I'm just one week in to the diet but so far, it doesn't feel like a punishment this way.
MyFitnessPal also works on a PC. Either way you need to create an account. Once you have one you can login either in the PC or in the app. Does that help? Note:this is not the same account as HealthUnlocked. Did you find the app in your AppStore maybe try to get it from the website myfitnesspal.com. Maybe you can find a Helppage on the website?
Brilliant, I'm so pleased for you! Remember to also measure your waist in case you have a week when the weight seems to plateau but you are actually building muscle instead.
Hi Liz, don't be disheartened and you should be out there enjoying your life with family. You need to be motivated to want to loose the weight and make small changes to action them, start with cutting down on snacks, make small swaps which will make a difference. Do some kind of excercise, try walking to start off with this will help too, making these changes will make a difference, maybe you need a buddy to do it with as this will be more motivation. Good luck with your weight loss journey and you can do it :).
Just a quick thought if you are grabbing fast food, do you have a Subway close by? You could get a salad box, they are mmmmm and you can choose what salad you have and make it really colourful.
Best of luck, and don't ever forget, it's who you are that really matters. ๐ผ
