Hi everyone i have just come across this site as i was looking for healthy options. I have decided i no longer want to be on a diet but decided to do healthy living instead. I find diets to restrictive and i fall off the wagon quickly. So my plan is to have 3 healthy meals a day and 2 healthy snacks roughly around 1300 to 1500 calories a day. My plan so far has only been for a couple of days but goes something like this. Breakfast Weetobix no sugar or wholemeal toast or 2 eggs scrambled. Lunch is a wholemeal wrap with tuna little mayo lettuce cucumber and an apple or any piece of fruit. Tea is a healthy meal of lean meat veg or salad and maybe sweet potato mash and if peckish veg snacks. and lots of water. i hope this is sounding ok any advice would be welcome i am currently 13 stone female at 5ft 4inches so any help and advice along my journey would be great. My 14 year old son is also going on a healthy eating journey which is great so we do get to sit and have a healthy evening meal together. We also might start swimming once a week can't afford anymore times than that but we have a very hypo border collie who needs long walks so that helps as well. Ok, cool, so stay just above 1540 ideally, not eating enough calories can produce quite the opposite results to the logic, which is why most diets are frustrating in the long term. The big thing to remember is losing weight fast is possible, but you’re much more likely to find it again. Losing it slowly gives you a much better probability of being able to maintain your healthy weight at the end of your weight loss journey. Slow and steady really does win this particular “race”

Great. Make sure you do the same for your son... his calories will be different to yours, so you need to account for that. Main meals the same and snacks different I guess is the easiest way to do that practically.
If your son is body conscious exercise will help a lot, especially fat burners like running, swimming etc. They will build muscle, so weight with exercise alone tends to stay about the same, but inches can be lost. We had a lady on couch to 5k who lost 0.5kg on the programme, but took 10cm off her waist.
yes my son has my fitness pal on his phone he is 5ft 10 and lean and wants to just start healthy eating as he was eating lots of rubbish so he just wants to be healthier but he is doing great and we do it together i am at work today but have left him like a pack up so he can't over indulge on rubbish lol and we are going swimming tonight its just made a huge difference we can do this journey together. we have sat and wrote out a weekly menu for when i go shopping. But i have found this site very helpful i was fed up with other diets as they are very restrictive but loving this site as it isn't it just healthier options so we are both looking forward to our journeys and to see the changes along the way.

Eating five meals a day is not necessarily ideal, as eating produces insulin, which inhibits fat burning, so reducing the number of meals and snacks you eat can help reduce weight.
Some of us here only eat eight hours a day, but I usually only eat from 10:00 to 14:00 = four hours eating and 20 hours fasting a day.

My husband is not on board lol so he can feed himself 😂😂 but my son is we went swimming for an hour last night and had 20 minutes in the steam room it was great so we are going once a week xx
