This is my first time posting to a forum so here goes. I'm 35 years old, 5ft 7 and weigh 245lbs and find myself in need of speaking to anybody who has been or is in my situation.
I work 9-5 Monday to Friday as a Sales Manager so I'm sat behind a desk for 8 hours per day. Once I finish work I find myself so tired that all I want to do is sit at home.
A typical days food for me would be;
Breakfast: Bran Flakes with skimmed milk
Midmorning snack: Apple
Lunch: 2 x Turkey sandwiches (white bread with butter), 1 x Packet of crisps, 1 x Chocolate bar
Afternoon snack: Banana
Dinner: Anything from Spahetti Bolognese to Salad
In an ideal world is love to have a personal trainer and dietitian but unfortunately I don't have these kind of funds available. I'm always searching online for inspiration and ideas but never get anywhere.
I guess the reason I'm posting on here is to try and find others who have experienced this kind of daily rut and to get real life help.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sean

Welcome Beanegg. I'm like you Monday to Friday sat behind a desk then to tired to exercise when I get home. I've teamed up with a friend at work and every Tues and Thurs we go for a 30 minute walk religiously at lunchtime. Some meetings get in the way but I always swap my day so I get out at least twice a week. She motivates me and hopefully I motivate her. When I get home I have a rule that I don't switch the TV on until at least 8pm which means I have to do something whether that's gardening, going to the gym, walking the dog etc. Then if I do sit and watch tv it's only a few hours a day. All this is free (except the gym bit lol). Good luck. You can do this.
Hi and welcome Beanegg
Sitting at a desk all day isn't good for you, get up at least once a hour walk around and stretch, could you go for a walk at lunch time ? Leave the car at home and walk or cycle to work ? Because you are sitting all day you are going to feel more tired, find an exercise you enjoy be it running, cycling, walking, gym, once you start you will find you have more energy
Make small changes they are easier to sustain, set yourself mini goals and non-food reward yourself for each goal you achieve,
Stay active on the forum it really does make a difference, join a challenge, weigh in, the daily diary is fantastic for help, support, advice and great ideas, ask questions, chat or just read the posts
Hi Beanegg welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy coming on here. The more you log in and join in the more you will get out of it.
Set yourself mini goals to build your confidence, make yourself accountable to you and move forwards to achieve your goals and enjoy the journey.. DONT think of this as a diet, but a lifestyle change that will allow you to re-train your thinking, eating, exercise and motivation for the rest of your life.
You are 35 now with a routine that was built up over time, so allow yourself time to change that routine to a newer improved way to live moving forwards. As you move forwards I hope your weight moves downwards on the scales!!
Hi Beanegg and welcome. I have been seriously overweight for years and was never motivated to do anything about it. However last year I turned 40 and my body started telling me that I needed to do something about it. So in January I started my new lifestyle. I am exercising far more and eating far less. I have lost nearly 4 stone and am feeling better than I have done for years. Believe me, if I can do it you certainly can, but you need to want to do it. There are loads of very supportive people on here with loads of great tips and advice to help you. So my advice is to find your motivation, start your new lifestyle and actively participate on here. You will succeed for sure. James
I've just read your post and the replies, there is loads of useful advice. I've lost 3 stone since January and at 65 with some dodgy joints proves that anything is possible. Keep it simple. Move More and Eat less and gradually the weight will come off. The key is motivation. Before starting my weight loss journey I read a book called Overcoming Weight Problems written by a clinical psychologist and dietician. It encouraged me to list what my life would be like in 5 years time if I stayed the same weight and if I lost weight. My motivation has been good health (plus a bit of vanity). Try not to think of dieting but of making healthy lifestyle choices. My main exercise is walking the dog and I have a Fitbit pedometer which is a great motivator. This forum has obviously helped me and many others but in the end you have got to want to do it for yourself because you are worth it. I wish you success but not luck because luck has nothing to do with it. Daisy1925
Hi Beanegg
I weigh almost the same am almost the same age and am the same height as you. This forum is a great support. Try using my fitness pal app to log foods and exercise. Maybe something like a Fitbit might help motivate you starting with small step goals.
As you do no exercise at the moment try this link fill in your details and you could end up with some helpful support from your local gov. nhs.uk/oneyou#5lC5XOgishLpF...
I got 12 weeks free leisure centre use as well as a lifestyle coach. If you do less than 30minutes a week you will get some form of help. It has been great. Couldn't use to its full potential as was waiting for an op and out of action now for a couple of months.
