I have just joined with about 7 stone to lose so feeling rather anxious but determined. My eating has always been 'emotional' and I'm currently experiencing a very difficult time as my mum is terminally il. I have to do this for me to get healthy and strong physically and mentally. Any tips, support or adbice will be greatly appreciated.

sorry to hear of your mums illness, you are right that you need to be healthy and you've taken the first step. An admin will respond at some point to help point you in the right directions through the forum.
my advice is break down your goals to smaller ones, take it one stone at a time and give yourself non food rewards when u get there.
join in on the daily diaries for inspiration and meal ideas
join a weigh in group and be accountable every week for weigh in
stay active on the forum. Good days and bad days are well received and we are all here for the same reasons. Good luck
Hi Babington59 welcome to the most supportive place you can imagine. Plenty of people lose lots of weight but it does take time, after all none of us gained our weight in a hurry.
Try to change your mindset so that you are creating something that is sustainable, so many diets do not live up to expectations but healthy eating does.
Join in the forum as much as possible and look at the challenges, join in whichever ones suit you.
Most important I think is to get rid of processed foods and added sugar from your diet. You are worthy of well cooked food from scratch. You will find loads of delicious recipes as part of the pinned posts section.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding although my fiancé and I haven't set a date yet. I am following Slimming World but I am weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to classes because I am saving for my wedding and I am in the process of moving. I have lost 4lbs in the last 3 weeks. I like this forum and find it useful. I also like the support I get from other members as well as family and friends
