Just over six months ago, I stood on the scales and could have cried too - I'd always promised myself that I'd never reach the number I could see. In the months leading up to that day, I was dealing with a lot of stress by comfort eating.
Somehow I managed to turn things around. The stressful situation still exists but I'm determined to do better. This forum is a great source of support and encouragement.
You can do it!
Welcome Linda
You'll get lots of wisdom and support here.
You know your BMI and how much you have to lose. Have you a plan for losing the weight? Many people use the 12week NHS programme. Join the newbie club and post often 😀
Hello and welcome, lindapim81. I hope your tears have dried a little. Emotional eating is a biggie for many of us. If we all ate just what our body needs, we wouldn't be in this situation would we, so don't beat yourself up.
Have a look at the 12 week NHS plan and see if that might be a good guide for you. Find your way round this site following cracker10's post. Maybe set yourself an initial weight loss target so you aren't overwhelmed by the 39 kg. Take things into your own hands and give yourself credit for all the positive changes. Come on here and tell us, too, and we'll back you up. We're rooting for you!
Hi Linda. No need to cry as you've made the first step by realising you have excess weight that you want to lose. Just over a year ago, I needed to lose about 40kg. Now, I need to lose 10kg. So, it can be done and you'll feel so much better for it. My formula has been eating less, exercising more. No funny diet or anything. It will take time and I think that is why people so often fail with diets - they starve themselves and can't keep that up for very long. Take a look at the NHS BMI calculator and work out what range of calories you should be eating and aim for the lower number of the range. You'll be surprised how much you'll be eating on a so called diet! You won't go hungry! Join in here, post about your ups and downs, and most importantly post when you've lost that 39kg.
