Hi I have just joined this forum and looking for help. First I will tell you about myself.
I am a 68yr divorced lady my problems started many years ago. I have had weight issues all my life but when I turned 60yrs I was told I had haemochromatosis (which is a iron overload) arthritis and Lipoedema the problem I am having is that I have faulty genes from both my parents which just causes me not to loose weight no matter what I do. I was offered a gastric band but as I had 4 operations I the last 6 years I did not want at that time to have another. Plus I don't think it would do any good.
So any advise give really would be appreciated
Sorry for the rant I am just ver low today. Thanks for reading this

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Barbaraella100
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Your difficulties stem from the enormity of the challenge; maybe you could break it down to smaller ones; try for the next hour to only have watery drinks, plan your next meal carefully to avoid high fat and high carbohydrate foods, but using foods you know you can tolerate. Google support networks for other people with similar health issues so you can swap recipes and ideas. Make yourself get up (in the rain) and walk around the block. Work on this health improvement program just one day at a time...... and the task might not seem quite so daunting. You will at least feel like you are in control!
Barbaraella100 , if you are using a computer, at the top you will see 'my communities', if you click on this and then 'browse communities' and put your conditions in the search box you will find other forums where people will be able to give you more support and advice as Dorsetdumpling has suggested.
As far as healthy eating goes, this is a great forum. If you are struggling to know what to eat, take a look at the Daily Diary thread, you will find it in the newsfeed. If you have a read through this you will get some ideas. I find it best to plan ahead and not to have things in the house that will tempt me. Wishing you good luck.
hi such a brilliant time of year to be starting a new healthy lifestyle. Mother nature provides lots of inspiration for our well being. Change needs to be introduced gradually to avoid feeling overwhelmed and take your time to enjoy the new. Loads of information and support on this forum. Keep focused and keep posting.
