Hi and welcome, arty
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have some spaces and Sunday's is very quiet, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi, I use the 12 weeks plan. It is full of tips and every week they give you advice. I count calories with an app. I use MyFitnessPal. On the forum, the topic, hints and tips has a lot of useful information. Good luck.
Hello, I think I will try to give it ago my target is 10 kg to reduce my bmi to 22 presently 26.8 and I am 84 kgs in weight. Unfortunately I am not too understanding of the apps etc so that will be interesting. I will start tomorrow with some aerobics/jogwalk for 10 mins every other day and cut out sugar and hide the biscuit barrel. Thankyou for your support good luck also.
Try to get Dale Pinnock's books out of the library. He writes about which foods are best to eat for which illnesses. He explains things well and gives lots of recipes. Unfortunately he doesn't believe in counting calories so I work that out from the NHS calorie checker. He would say that the only oils to use in cooking are olive oil and coconut oil. I would add rapeseed oil as if you heat olive oil to too high a temperature the molecules get damaged and it loses its good health properties.
Good luck
Hi ceals Thanks for the information I will try to get hold of that book title next time am at the library.
