Hi just signed up today. I have been in a diet for as long as I can remember. When I was younger it was easy to get rid of the lbs. however now I find it very hard especially when I am on my own I tend to nibble all night. Any suggestions

Hi and welcome, Harrison2
I think many of us have found ourselves in the same position and realised that dieting just doesn't work. We need to commit to eating healthily, for the rest of our lives, so what we undertake, has to be sustainable.
You haven't said what age you are and please don't be offended, as this can apply to anyone, of any age

Hello and welcome. This is a fantastic forum. Lots of support and sensible advice about making lifestyle changes rather than ‘being on a diet’. Do use the site as there’s loads of information.
Thank you gman1961 . I am hoping this is the one for me.
Lifetime or lifestyle diets are best for keeping the weight off. …but I find it difficult to keep to my "lifestyle" diet over the winter.
I'm not looking forward to the winter, food is fuel to keep me warm so I will have to live in a fridge (empty of course!)
Hi Harrison2 it's great here so welcoming and supportive, I've been lurking for six weeks and have just come out of the woodwork and planning to join in on the Monday weigh in. Good luck with your journey.
Might do the weigh in too it helps to do the others
Welcome Harrison2. I wasn’t a nightime nibbler, more of a gorger!!! Whole bars of chocolate, biscuits, tubs of icecream, tubes of condeensed milk so to start with I swopped and ate grapes instead. That didn’t work too well as grapes are full of sugar but it was a bit better. Eventually you do have to draw a line, it is a habit. Can you find something that would occupy your hands or mind, or take yourself for a walk if you’re able, or do a few mns exercise to clear your mind of the thought? Just suggestions, keep coming here that will certainly help.
Thanks, yes this is what I have to try and do. I do walk a lot and go to the gym. It not as much as I should lol
Sounds like me ! Embrace your night time nibbling , fast during the day. Once I start eating I’m hungry for the rest of the day, a big breakfast and I’m staaaaarrrrrvvviing!!!
So I just eat protein in the day to keep my insulin low, then have low carb veggies , protein ( vegetarian ) and berries in the evening .
Thank you for your comments I will give this a go.
