Hi Sweetpea2, thank you for saying hello :-)

Welcome to this forum Kim. I have been here a couple of weeks and it has really helped me stay focused. Take a look around and I think you will be encouraged and inspired too.

Are you doing the nhs 12 week plan? I like it because it really helps change thinking and habits and it is doable.

I have been a lifelong Yoyo dieter. But really think this is the last time. I hope to be able to maintain my loss once I get to goal this time. Next mini goal to have a bmi in healthy limits. What are your goals? Motivations etc?

Good luck .

Hi well I need spinal fusion surgery and the surgeon told me two years ago that he would not perform it until I had lost 5 stone (typical they always think it's because of your weight) so because my condition is worsening (numbness in my leg caused me to go over on my ankle on Tuesday resulting in a very swollen sprained ankle) I need to get as much off as possible so that the surgeon will do something to help me.

I currently do slimming world and have lost just short of 1 and a half stone but I allow my past troubles to bring me down and then I turn to food for comfort which then makes me feel worse and I'm going round and round in a circle.

Sorry babbling on

Well you are welcome here. Sorry to hear about your back trouble sounds painful and debilitating. Well done for your weight loss so far.

Most people here seem to do the nhs 12 week plan but others do SW, or other diets that suit them.

I have found this forum really supportive. Before reaching for the food next time you cracking give a shout out hee and I think you will get support. Facing up to and sharing our struggles is the first step to confronting them and keeping control. Love yourself enough to get healthier. Here's to hoping that you stay on track so you get the op you need x

Hey Kim - sorry to hear about your issues with your spine - that's just so frustrating. And then going over on your ankle means you can't do much in the way of exercise either!

Its a very supporting and caring group here - you can always download and someone will listen.

Have you thought about how to stop sabotaging your weight loss? How do you plan to get past the problem next time?

Sometimes really digging deep and thinking about what set you off, what made you eat can help you to get some defences in place for the next time it happens.

And it will - unfortunately it's rarely a smooth run so deciding how to make the best possible attempt at this is crucial.

For me? Its counting calories and plan, plan, plan.

I use Myfitnesspal and it is AWESOME - so easy to count cals with, scan barcodes, import recipes from the web - its genius.

I also do my menu for the week, including snacks. I get the supermarket to deliver and I spend about 30-45 mins in the morning on average just prepping and cooking so I have everything done.

So in case I get a craving or am tired or over it - I have something I can go for straight away.

When things go badly we punish ourselves even more by over eating and treating our body badly. It can be hard but we HAVE to change that - we should be good to ourselves not take out our frustration on the very thing that keeps us alive.

Great to have you here

Hi Kim well done for joining the site and wanting to loose the weight. Your story is similar to mine so I understand what you're going through, I too comfort eat or drink when I'm depressed or stressed and then I feel alone and feel as though no one understandsme, but when I joined this site I realised there are lots of us with similar problems. Just reading other people's stories and there struggles or success have helped me because I no longer feel alone and if I need some advice there's someone willing to give me it . Good luck and feel free to message me any time

Tracey
