Hi all,
I joined yesterday in my bid to try and shift about 3 decades of comfort eating/greed!
Anyone else tackling big amount to lose?
Hi Makemamamthin2018,
Hello and welcome to the Weight loss NhS forum. It's great that you've joined us, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. I was 5 stones larger than I am now, when I started my weight loss journey, and I've found the NHS 12 week plan to be really helpful alongside the incredible support of the people on this forum. I have had a healthy BMI for the past 2 years now, and feel so much better.
I'd recommend you have a read of our Welcome Newbie post, which is in the Pinned posts area, right-hand-side of the forum. You'll see that lots of people have found the forum helpful, and they give plenty of tips and suggestions in that thread.
If you join in with the various Challenges (also in the Pinned posts) then you can get the most out of the forum, and of course, join in with anything you want to - it's all optional. We have weight loss badges, starting at 7lb or 5kg, depending on your preference, so when you get to that point, you can ask either myself or moreless for an optional weight loss badge. We also have a 'newbie' badge, if you want to have one of those - again completely optional.
The Monday group weigh-in stays open till 18 00 on Fridays, so you can join us for that if you want to be part of a supportive weight loss group, and there are as I said other Challenges going on too.
Have a great week.
Lowcal
Hi and welcome Lowcal has given you all the info just make small goals maybe to lose half a stone by Jan 1st then give yourself a non food reward plus your first badge of course.
With support from the forum and reading all the inspirational stories this is the longest I've been able to stay on track. My first goal is 4.5 stone and I would like to reach it by Valentine's Day. I've lost 3.4 stone so far since 19/5/16 so it's doable if I up the effort a little.
Don't look at the whole picture it's too much for some people for me anyway so small goals, drink plenty of water to aid digestion and keep active on theforum that has worked best for me.
It doesn't take long before you can see a change in yourself how you feel, how your clothes fit, how so much fitter you are so go for it after all if you can start on your journey this time of the year after Christmas should get easier.
Good luck post if you need support Bev👍😊
hi. I have 7 stone to lose..... and started last week.. I'm aiming for my 1st 5kg first and not thinking about the end weight as it's just too big a number for now ! good luck with starting x
Hi Bigmama99 -
I actually started on Wednesday last week - so coming to end of first week tomorrow!!
Hope it goes well for you too
Me!!! I have 8 to lose now was 10 but 2 down 8 to go. You can do it x x
Wow! Well done you!
me too, Well ive lost the bulk of it now, start 19st 12lbs, current 13stone 0.4lbs, only another 2.4lbs till i reach my 7stone loss, then i may loose another 1 -3 stone im undecided yet, Best of Luck
That's fantastic rjay95!
Wonderful to hear that and really motivating for a newbie.
Hope your success continues.
Well done x
wow rjay95 ...definately good to hear u started around the same weight as me now and lost it... how long did it take u ?
Hi Bigmama99, i started initially in may 2015 at 19st 12lbs (really slow pace) life got in the way, i slowed down but kept an eye on things, in Jan 2016 i was 17st 3lbs, also fractured my foot so that set me back, but i kept going, i finally got a job after leaving college, 31st may 2016 and thats when i got serious with routine as i work 9-4 Mon-Fri, upped movement & water intake (hated water before this) and just kept at it, slowly cut out bad foods and have smaller portions & move a lot more.. you will find what works for you, best of luck
that's good to hear... I'm finding it a bit demoralising at the moment as I've been exercising loads and watching what I eat but so far not lost a pound ! you would expect being almost 19stone that the weight would drop off me at the start but it's just being stubborn at the moment and doesn't want to leave me lol... I will keep going as success stories like yours will keep me motivated and make me be more patient x
Thank you, and i suggest mixing things up take note of the times of day you eat (not to late), i find plenty of water, bananas and eggs help me, maybe slow the exercise down and focus on the food side of things then add exercise, more stretching & resistance add more when comfortable, my ups and downs are well documented here lol, you'll find your stride and the lbs will drop off
I have actually upped my water this week... had eggs for breakfast every morning.. lunch - tuna/salmon with a big salad and tea has been mainly chicken & veg. I'm aiming for no alcohol or carbs this week for me.... I'm positive the scales are going to be kinder next Monday x
Hi, how did you managed to loose 5 stones in such a short time? I am 19.5 st and feel like I don't know where to start. I have stressful work in office, drop and pick up kids from school and do shopping, housecleaning etc. By 8 pm I am knock out I have hyperthyroidism, policistic overian syndrome and sleep apnea and I really would like to change my appearance.
i am desperate to change my life
Hi Beatricepp,
I've only lost just over a stone - it's very slow going!
rjay95 has the 7 stone label - she's done really well.
I have found that when I eat better - which for me means low sugar/low carbs - I actually have more energy.
I do have to plan ahead so I don't end up grabbing sweet stuff because I've got to that ' soooo hungry' feeling!
Don't be despondent - just start and take it a day at a time??
So say tomorrow plan
Breakfast - I'm planning 2 eggs and 2 sausages plus water. Tinned tomatoes if I feel like it.
Lunch - left over chicken from today and as much salad as I want
Dinner - piece of fish or chicken or both, some boiled greens or broccoli.
WATER all day! At least a litre!
In between food - piece of cheese and ANY protein I fancy.
I've found low carb takes a little while to get used to but it does work especially as I have 4/5 meals a day!!
I asked a Nutritionist about amounts etc so I know what my limits are.
Does that sound like something you could try?
Take care x
I definitely need to cut on white bread pasta and rice and drink plenty of water. I don't drink water at all at the moment I only drink 1 coffee and 6 cups of tea a day. I know it is really bad . I will change my life I would love to be more active. Thank you very much for your response
Welcome !
And the fact that you are here and reading etc means you do want to do it so just start!
Take care xx
Me! I have around 8 to lose. Starting again for nth time and I'm scraping up all my willpower as I can do it if I try.
Good luck on your journey! Don't worry too much if you take a scenic route or even step backwards a little, you'll get to where you want to be if you keep going.
Thanks GemmaJMrs!
I've done a fair bit of dieting in the past, did also lose 33 pounds last year so yes agree with you!!
Hope it's easier this time round - for me and you! x
I need to lose about 5 stone which is nearly a third of my starting weight of 14 stone and a bit. So it seems like an enormous amount. I'm only letting myself think of the first 7lb as it will demoralise me to think of the whole lot! And at nearly the end of the first 3 weeks the 7lb is almost gone.
What's your mini goal?
Hi Grannynise
Yes it can be hard to view it all in one go!
Minigoal is to re lose the 33 from last year!!
