I wish I could say it was a shock I had so much weight to lose but unfortunately it isn't. I've been stuck fluctuating between 20 stone and 21 stone for 2 years now.
The weight loss is going to mean stopping the drinking which is a major part of my life. Just find it so easy to have a drink every night like a bottle of wine. ALSO all the stuff you're not supposed to eat like Pizza, Curry, Chinese, Fish and Chips, Toast and Butter, Full English. NO WONDER I'M A FATTY !!!
SO just to day hi and hoping to knock off a good portion of the 9 stone by the summer this year. So that for once in the past 25 years of saying Ive got six months to lose weight before Summer and then getting to June and having lost none or put it on. I'm hoping this year to have lost some.

Hi Hawaythelads69 and welcome to the weight loss forum.
Reducing the drinking will certainly help with you losing weight as there is a lot of sugar in alcohol. Instead of looking at the full 9 stone try breaking it down into 7lb targets to make it less daunting.

Successful weight loss is about eating less, not giving up all the things we enjoy. Some people do indeed find it easier to go ‘cold turkey’ and give up alcohol and take aways etc but for me, this is a life long change, so I choose to eat all the same things but vastly reduce the quantity and frequency 😊
The best thing you can do is come on here every day and take advantage of the events and challenges
Brilliant advice here from IndigoBlue61 : "Successful weight loss is about eating less, not giving up all the things we enjoy" - so you can still enjoy 'wine, Pizza, Curry, Chinese, Fish and Chips, Toast and Butter, Full English', but in moderation. So you learn to make healthier choices if you end up eating Chinese (black bean sauce tends to be less calorific than sweet n sour sauce, for example). Good luck with your goal!
Welcome to one of the best places in town for support. Hope you can cut out the alcohol and food. That certainly worked for me. I managed to lose 16 lbs last year but Christmas is taking its toll. Too much-bottled lager and boxes of cookies but I only have 5 lbs to lose to get back on track. But I will wish you luck and patience and I hope that your goal is not too severe for you with possible changes in lifestyle and diet. So I hope you can be patient and kind to yourself. Goo luck.
Agree with all others but a suggestion as a first step...write down everything you eat or drink for a few days or longer together with time and why (eg habit, hungry, bored etc). Then review and identify some small changes to tackle one by one -could be cutting out or cutting down a snack for example or replacing it with a healthy option or making yourself go for a 10min walk before you allow yourself it.
