Today is my first serious day of starting a healthy eating plan. Increased my exercise with the aid of fit bit. Any advice will be appreciated.

Need to loose weight -it's my first day.
Hi Jane,
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. You've posted a lovely photo!
I would recommend having a read of our Welcome Newbie post - it's in the Pinned posts area, which is in the top right-hand-side of the homepage. Also, there are several other Challenge posts there, and the Monday weigh-in post is in the Events section (below the Pinned posts) - so please join in any things that interest you!
The NHS 12 week plan is really good, so I'd recommend having a look at that.
Wishing you a great week.

Hi Jane and welcome.😊 I am on week 8 of the NHS 12 week plan and finding it really easy to do. I fill the sheets in daily, have upped my walking/steps and measure my food intake. I have had an odd treat or two over the past 8 weeks but added them into my allowance, we are not on a diet, you don't deny yourself anything but include it in your allowance. You can work this out using the BMI calculator. I have a fit bit too and love it I am becoming quite obsessed checking my steps. Hope you adjust to your new lifestyle and keep looking on here, there are some really inspirational posts from people who have lost so much weight you can see how you can do it. Good luck, keep us posted. Bev
Hi Never
Thanks for your support and words of encouragement it is appreciated. I know what you mean about measuring and checking your steps. I end up walking around the house to get my steps in. My dogs look at me as though I have lost my marbles -they are probably right.
Checked my BMI yesterday -all I will say big job ahead!
Jane
Hi Jane snap! you're not the only one who has been found at 11pm at night running up and down the kitchen and hallway because I am so close to my 10,000 steps I insist on getting them in before midnight.
I also am on a massive weight loss journey, I have £63 in my jar and up till 2 weeks ago had moved 14 into my weight lost jar tomorrow I hope to move a couple more, the idea is when I have lost 63lbs in weight I will have £63 to buy myself something to remember my journey. ( just to add I will not have finished my diet then but that is all I could fit in the jar and will be happy to get to the weight the 63lbs takes me to) we all do little motivational things to help us along and this is just one of mine a visual one, also I keep a daily diary how I have done/feel etc. So big job ahead for both of us but you know we can do it!👍😊
Hi Bev
Have you moved anymore money today? Or glass half full let me rephrase what monies have you moved today?
Jane
Hi Jane! I absolutely hate stepping on the scales but I have lost 5lbs, so moved 5 coins. ( this is my way of actually seeing the pounds go ) I am only weighing in every 2 weeks so about 2.5lb a week. How are you doing? I started my journey at 17.1 stone just under 8 weeks ago today I am 15.10 so 1st 5lb lost so far. Have you a plan in mind, goals etc or just taking it one day at a time? Good luck let us know how you are doing👍😊
Hi Bev
WELL DONE! WOW 5* absolutely fabulous. You must feel great with your achievement you make it look easy - I know it isn't.
Oh i am not as organised as you I don't have a plan other than healthy eating small portions and increased exercise.
Jane
Well that is basically all I am doing.
My son bought me a fit bit flex for my birthday as a treat because I dog sit for him along with my two and I log everything on it water, food eaten/calories even look at my sleep which is terrible.
Believe me it isn't easy, I have been on so many fad diets and done the clubs, lost weight and gained it again. This time I know I am so fed up being overweight and didn't even realise I had hit 17st till I started. My weight has to change, I cannot afford to stay as I was, my joints ached and I was getting so out of breath walking.
My son is getting married in 2018 I know it is a long way off but I want to be slim for the photos. My daughter-in-law to be's mum is slim and I don't / won't be the fat one on the photo. That's my goal ultimately.
Oh same here - just back from the oestopath. Interesting what you find out about your sleep pattern with the fit bit. Have about 18-20 restless episodes a night. First thing I do in the morning check the app.
I belive from the information shared we are probably on the same journey. With as much to loose difference is your more organised than I am and will probably achieve your target way before me. But it will be good when we arrive at our destinations and we will.
I must admit I am a very organised person drive my husband insane as he is very untidy. Hope everything was ok at the osteopath's one of my reasons to loose weight was arthritis in my hip and hands I find this is lessening with my extra exercise so hopefully will keep decreasing. I am sure we will both reach our goal and if we start to falter lets just tell each other to "pull yourself together".
onwards and downwards as they say.😊
Certainly I agree.😀😤
Hi just wondered if you have joined the Kilometre Zero Challenge? It is a good motivator to up our steps.👍
No but I will have a look.
