Need to loose weight

Hi All, I am 5'9" weighing in at 17 stone. I was finding it really hard to walk (suspected sciatica) arthritis in my knees, hips 2 discs slightly bulged but not pressing on the sciatic nerve which is a good result. The doctors told me to take part in Aqua fit (well any exercise in the water) as this takes the pressure off my joints. I started this over a year ago and have built myself up. Now I speed walk for 3 miles which takes me 50mins, Monday consists of 16 lengths breaststroke, Aqua fit 45mins and Pilates 45mins. Tuesday currently a rest day although sometimes I do the speed walk. Wednesday back to the pool. Thursday consists of 45mins Legs, Bums and Tums an hour break and return for another 45mins for light to medium aerobic exercise called smooth movers. I try and fit in 2 long walks between 8-10 miles a week.

I know it may seem a lot of exercise and I do my best but I am struggling with getting the weight off, I have lost some inches but the weight is the same???

In need of some inspiration!!!

Hi MJboop68 and welcome to the forum.

Well done on all your exercise. That is amazing.

I had sciatica after having a baby and I ended up on anti-inflammatories as the pain wouldn't go and I could barely stand, let alone walk. So I empathise completely on that front.

Check out the Welcome Newbies post in the pinned posts section (to the right of your screen on a pc, bottom on a mobile) - this contains some great info for starting out and navigating your way around the site.

It's important you eat the right amount of calories for you weight and height. Check out your allowance on the NHS BMI calculator as everybody's allowance is very individual.

Take all of your before measurements and maybe a photo.

We run weigh-ins from Tuesday to Saturday (at the moment Wednesday and Saturday are our least busy days) and consider joining some of our challenges as they are fun and motivating.

We also offer a Newbie badge for the first twelve weeks, if you would like one, let me know.

Best of luck and looking forward to seeing you around.

I would love a badge thank you, this site is amazing, I live in the Scottish Borders in relation to the weigh ins, I am a member of liveborders and they are currently doing a 60 day challenge which I have just started. thank you for the information.
