This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing:
If you join us for this Monday group weigh-in then myself (Lowcal) and the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and LotToLose) will reply to you. However, please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments, but we do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Ok, so I’ll kick off with my weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 12 stone 11.8 pounds, and today I weigh: 12 stone 12.2 pounds, so I’ve gained 0.4 pound this week. I only managed to get to the gym once – instead of twice, which has been the case for the last couple of weeks, but I did enjoy the gym session, and made the most of it.
I did my Strength exercises (inspired by @Ruth_Canal_Runner’s March Strength Challenge) so feel good about that. I have also kept up my Kms for @FizzyLiz’s 20,000 Leagues under the Sea challenge and I’m on track for @MarmiteRehoming’s 4th July Challenge. I’ve also cleared and sorted out my wardrobe in anticipation for @Sueper’s Dress Challenge.
So many great Challenges, and I would thoroughly recommend doing these and participating in them, if you are thinking about it. I know many of you are already involved – I’m sure you agree it’s motivating and great fun! Look in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) for more details.
If you're look forward to FizzyLiz's challenge, it's time to post the results tomorrow (i.e. Tuesday!) so her post will be in the forum tomorrow.
Ruth_Canal_Runner has done the stats this week, (many thanks Ruth!) and they are inspiring:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 117.
Total overall weight lost: 115.8 pounds (52.55 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 64 (139.5 pounds lost) (63.3 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 17 (23.7 pounds gained) (10.75 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 16.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 17.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 3.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
The link to the latest Monday group weigh-in thread is always in the ‘Events’ section (right-hand-side of the home-page) so it’s easy to find it once you know where to look!
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless. The other Challenges taking place in the forum currently are also in the Pinned Posts section too.
My goal for next week is to try to lose 1 pound, and to get to the gym at least a couple of times, as well as keep up my daily walking and Strength Exercises.
Onwards and downwards – let’s keep motivating one another, we can do this!!! ☺

Struggling to get the morning thread to download :/ I've had a mixed week with a couple of horrible days and the result of this is a 1&3/4 gain up to 17st 8& 3/4. Back on it now albeit with a sore knee which may affect my exercise for a while..
Oh dear Kate, sorry to hear you've had all sorts of things go wrong this week
It's strange how some of us are badly affected by the site and others not at all! I've swapped over to the afternoon thread now, because the morning one has become really slow for me, but fortunately, is fine for Lowcal.
I'm sad about your sore knee too, you really are in the wars! Just take it easy and don't try to overdo it. It's just not worth pushing it and making things worse.
I do hope that nothing worse has happened to you, I'm a little concerned that you've mentioned 2 horrible days and am keeping my fingers crossed that they were both because of your knee.
Don't worry too much about the weight gain, you'll be able to rectify that when you're feeling better. For now, just concentrate on getting 100% fit again.
Thanks moreless unfortunately the knee is the lesser :/ my darling dog bit my 3 yr old niece on Friday. My niece needed anaesthetising to have stitches and it was just the most awful day. Happily she is absolutely fine but as you may imagine the what ifs have been racketing around my head ever since
My dog adores me unconditionally (and I her) my niece is a 3yr old twin and both girls and their 10yr old sister came in together. I was answering the other twin and my older niece says Zara leaned back and back til she couldn't get any further away then snapped
It will never happen again - Zara tends to take herself off when things get too lively - on friday their appearance was unexpected - in future she will go to her happy place before the twins arrive.
It was very lucky not to be worse and tbh is still causing me jolts of pure horror :/ I am very lucky in that my sister has told the police - who legally had to be told by the hospital - that it doesn't need following up - they will keep a record of it and so they should.
Oh Kate, I'm gutted for you! Thank goodness your sister has been so understanding. It's so horrible to be torn both ways! It's every dog owners worse nightmare! I just hope you can reconcile yourself to it, sooner rather than later.
Sorry about the knee, Kate, I hope it gets better quickly. Oh, I read further, sorry about the dog incident too, that is very upsetting, no wonder your weight responded to the stress and went up.
Hopefully everyone is now less shaken and you can concentrate on yourself for a bit now.
Hi Lowcal. I am so pleased to report that I have lost a pound since last Monday. So now 11 stone 2. I was not expecting that as I have been staying with my Mother-in-Law over the weekend and she likes to feed you. Also she makes a mean trifle and I just couldn't resist yesterday. I tried to counteract the calories so looks like I didn't do a bad job. If I could hit the 10's on the scales next Monday I would be delighted but the kids are off this week so its going to be tricky. You only gained a tiny bit Lowcal and well done for the gym session and strength exercises. I am sure you will reach your goal of 1lb off next week with all that exercise you plan to do. Onwards and downwards! Have a good week
Well done Muffintop, you have done well! You've managed to lose despite your mil's feeding the 5000 plan and the delectable trifle! What a triumph! I reckon that if you can rise to that challenge, you can rise to the challenge of getting into the 10's, despite the kids being off!
Wishing you all the very best for this week, I shall have my pom poms ready for next monday!
Thanks moreless. She did want me to take the left over trifle home with me (at least half a bowl) but I managed to leave it behind. She lives in Wales so its definitely out of my reach now. Thank you for your positive comments and thanks for having pom poms at the ready
Well after gaining a pound last week I lost two this week. Now down to 14st 1.5 lb. Hopefully I will have the same good result next week and hit the 13st bracket. I deserve this although I know I have to earn it too. The lighter evenings are helping as I can walk back from the station as well as there in the mornings. Have a great week everyone and here's to reading about less of you next week
Woohoo small-steps! 2lbs down and sooooooooo close to the 13's! WTG you! You SO deserve this!
It's great having lighter evenings and having the extra opportunity to get out and walk, or cycle, or anything really, that doesn't involve sitting huddled around the fire, in front of the telly
There are several people that I shall have my pom poms out for next monday and I've just added your name to the list!
Afternoon. I've put on two pounds this week. Mixture of a weekend away and too little sleep causing me to eat too many sugary things! Have sorted myself out today so onwards and downwards. My goal this week is to keep within 25g sugar (4 so far today) 5 days out of 7, and run the Shetland 3 times. We're up to 40 minutes a run now. He's still looking fab, I sound like a steam train!!! xx
Oh dear Maxine, all that hard work and still a 2lb gain! It sounds as if you have a great plan to counteract your excesses though and I'm sure next week's weigh-in will be a whole different ball game!
I can't believe the Shetland's looking fab and you sound like a steam train! With all the exercise you're getting, you should be as thin as a rake and in very rude health!
Onwards and downwards Maxine, you're getting there!
Wow, 40 minutes a run - that is fabulous, I am dying to be able to do that! Your Shetland is a very good personal trainer. I am sure you will knock those 2lbs off - and more - at this rate!
Good Afternoon, I'm Karen and I'm new! Since reaching my 50's a couple of years ago, and having problems with asthma and therefore exercising, my weight has increased. I have always kept my weight more or less under control before! I now find myself weighing 14.5 st and I need to lose in total according to the NHS 5st 6lbs, which sounds like a daunting task...... I'm setting myself a much smaller goal to start with of 6lbs this month......I also want make sure my asthma is under control, so I can at least start walking regularly with our dog again!
It's great that you've chosen to join us today and that you've shared your starting weight and goals
You're very wise to set yourself a nice manageable goal, which is well within your grasp.
I hope that you can get your asthma under control, because although exercise isn't entirely necessary for weight loss, it does give you a host of other benefits.
Welcome Karen, I am asthmatic too and am finding that the more I do, the better the lungs are getting. When I first started working out, I was on my inhaler a lot, now I only use it when I do my C25K training.
I felt daunted when I realised I had 9stone to lose, so I totally understand how you feel. But you know what? I have lost over half of it now and am beginning to feel more confident that I will get there. I am sure once you get going, you will too.
This is my first week.I'm going on holiday in 6 weeks and I'm trying to loose weight as it's affecting my body.I want to be able to get around.I've tried to loose weight before and failed I'm hoping I can do it this time
Did you wish to share your starting weight with us? It's not obligatory, but sometimes it can feel quite liberating There's no pressure, just do what you feel comfortable with
Have a look at our newbie thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan and is full of handy hints
There are also a number of challenges in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen and you would be very welcome to join us in any, or all of them
Wishing you all the very best for your first week, I have no doubt that this time you will succeed!
There's no shame Cswood! You should feel proud that you've made the decision to do something about that number and that today is the last time you'll ever have to record it!
I started at 19st 10lbs and have lost nearly 5st, LotToLose has lost over 5st, Lowcal has lost over 5.5st. We didn't join this site because we were skinny, but because we wanted to lose weight and get our health back.
You are now an elite member of an elite club! Chin up! It's a great place to be!
I have just finished the NHS 12-week plan. I started off at 15 stone(!) after New Years and thought I had to do something so that I felt comfortable in my own skin. I came across the NHS plan and thought I could give it a try. And it's been working!
I weighed in at 13 stone 2 lbs at the end of week 12, or 184 lbs. This is something of an achievement for me as I haven't weighed so low in years. I lost 1 lb last week and am hoping this forum can help keep me on the straight and narrow now that I've gotten through the first 12 weeks. I would like to get to the top of what the NHS calculator shows as my healthy range (160 lbs, sorry but I don't know the stone measure) before I head home for my 20th High School reunion and to visit my newest niece in mid-June. I have 11 weeks to get there. It may not be quite there by then, but I'm really just enjoying the fact that my clothes fit now and can't wait to see the reaction from my family at the new, reduced and greatly healthier me.
Good afternoon and welcome to the Monday group weigh-in thread. I'm really happy you've joined us, and you're very welcome!
Wow, you've just finished the NHS 12 week plan, and what a fantastic result you've had. Starting at 15 stone and now weighing 13 stone 2 pounds, that means you've lost 1 stone 12 pounds! Wow!!! Congratulations!!!
Great to hear you lost 1 pound last week as well, and it's great that you're joining this forum to help you to continue on your weight loss journey. I've been using the principles of the NHS 12 week plan for just over 3 years now, so I do believe it is sustainable as a lifestyle choice.
Wishing you success in achieving your ultimate goal to be 160 pounds in time for your 20th High School reunion in mid-June. Like you say, you've got 11 weeks to get there, and you can get as close as possible in that time.
I bet your family will be really thrilled and also suitably surprised to see your transformation and healthier self.
Well done on losing so much weight, you have done really well and I feel very confident you will lose much more in the next 11 weeks, everyone is going to be astounded!
Hi everyone, I haven't finished reading the morning thread yet, but what I saw earlier on today looked great, it is lovely to see so many people joining in. I like that we are all in this together.
I weighed this morning and have lost 1.1kg, 2.43lbs and that brings me safely into the 13s! I am so pleased!
WOOHOO LTL I knew you'd do it and that I'd get the opportunity to wave my pom poms again! You're an absolute machine!
I'm not surprised you're pleased and so you should be, what you've achieved is absobloominlutely marvellous!!! WTG you! You're an inspiration to us all!
Thanks so much, Moreless, I love the pompoms! Now I am in the 13s, it makes my amount left to lose less than 4stone now, which feels a lot less daunting.
No, it will be sooner than that, we all lose weight in different ways and you are due a biggie loss soon, while I will probably have a low one, so keep on keeping on, you are doing brilliantly!
1st week done, starting weight 13 st 5 lb, today 13 st 1 lb - a loss of 4lbs! I know this is a first week loss of mainly water and not sustainable but still a massive boost to my confidence. immediate goal, to get out of the obese category - never thought I would be glad to simply be overweight! Long term I am aiming at about 10 st 7 lbs, depending on how I feel when I get close.
That is a great boost confidence wise - an excellent start! Congratulations!😊
I hope you enjoyed your first week, and I would like to wish you another great week ahead. Your weight loss will probably reduce in amount now, but you're already anticipating that, and here's to an Onwards and Downwards trend from here on in.
I've read all the morning thread, so encouraging and inspiring. Zest , <half a pound, it'll be gone by tomorrow, you'll achieve your goals I'm sure. moreless WTG in the 14s, I've been waving my pom-poms for you great news. 😄
I have lost another 1lb this week, 10st 7.8lbs to 10st 6.8lbs. Happy with that 😀 Steadily on my way to the 9s by summer. I came across an old diary yesterday, in May 2014 I weighed 12 st 8 lbs, so pleased to be over 2 stone lower than that now. I remember how much I hated myself then and how tired I felt, don't ever want to feel like that again, and I won't!
You are now in the lower half of the 10s, I am always happy when I cross the half-way mark of a stone, if you know what I mean!
It is great that you are so much lighter than in that diary entry and your determination never to get there will hold you in good stead and carry you through to your goal - well done!
Well done on getting involved in all the challenges Lowcal I'm sure you will be losing that small gain very soon indeed!
It's a tiny loss this week from 87.4kgs to 87.3kgs so -100grs. It's small but it's in the right direction so I'll rejoice anyway.
Didn't exercise as much as I would have liked last week but the Easter holidays are getting in the way. Also, had some family celebrations so it's all a bit tricky.
Determined to get more exercise in this week so sports bra is on and ready to go!
Hi folks, just popping my head up - haven't forgotten but I'm going to register my weigh in tomorrow. Today was a bit higgledy-piggledy. Son had dental appointment first thing, I set my alarm as I usually sleep like a log if and when I eventually get to sleep. It went off, I must have hit it in a semi-coma and turned over...he came running in at 8.30, mum, mum it's half eight get up! Just about had time to get a quick shower and brush my teeth then into the car and off! Anyway, just didn't think about weighing and ate breakfast etc, was already dressed. Figured, I will just do it tomorrow morning when things are less hectic, and hopefully the order will be correct - I usually weigh before breakfast and while I'm undressed! Hope you all have a good week, see you again tomorrow then!
Great to see you! I'll be checking the thread in the morning, so just weigh-in when you can - no rush, whenever suits you tomorrow infact! Glad you managed to get to the dental appointment with your son for his appointment.
Here's to catching up tomorrow, and to a great week ahead.
Hi Lowcal better late than never, I'm back lol! I'll post my weigh in as a reply, as normal, in case it gets lost in the "side replies" on this post. I hope that makes sense lol
Monday here again .Again no weight loss. Stuck at 15st 12lb. Still trying to get my pain under control.
It must be really tough for you at the moment, and I really hope that your pain can be brought under control soon, so you can enjoy some pain relief. Well done for maintaining your weight - it is a good result, especially in the circumstances, and I hope you have a reasonable week in terms of your pain levels, and that you are able to cope.
Aw, sorry about the pain, Caroline, is this the back problem still? Being in constant pain and unable to move about really does make it difficult, but well done in being mindful of your weight, that is half the battle. I hope you get to feel a lot better soon.
I missed last week's weigh in but after two weeks of being off plan and feeling pretty terrified about getting on the scales today, I have lost 3 pounds over the past two weeks and have lost a total of 12 pounds after nine weeks. No congratulations are deserved for the weight loss because I really haven't done anything over the past few weeks to warrant the loss.
Wow, that's great that you've lost 3 pounds over the past 2 weeks, and that you've achieved a total weight loss of 12 pounds in 9 weeks. Congratulations!!! 😊 We missed you last week, so I'm glad you came back to weigh-in today. I'll count your weight as 1.5 pounds over this last week, as an average lost per week, as we only ever count one week's data in our stats - and Ruth will be here later in the week to count up the stats results.
I know you said 'No Congratulations' are deserved, but I beg to differ with you! You must have done something to get a result like that. Please do take my Congratulations in the spirit in which they are offered - i.e. I'm genuinely pleased for you.
I agree with Lowcal! All weight loss is to be congratulated, because of course it's deserved! If you hadn't had a handle on your eating, you would have gained, or at the very least, maintained! WTG you!
Glad to report 1lb loss - despite Easter, and family visits and having to prepare huge fry-ups for paying guests! Calories have gone over between 200 and 500 each day but physical work and country walks with dogs and family have compensated thank goodness. Weighing in at 14st 1lb so hope to hit the 13's next week! Lovely to find some of my "too tight" clothes are now doing up again...
Hello, one week into my weight loss journey and I can report that I have lost 2lb
Starting weight- 14.5lb
weight this morning-14.3lb
So far so good, will continue making changes to my lifestyle and diet. This week I hope to minimise the amount of processed food that I eat during the week, especially those frozen pizzas and pies they're my weaknesses
Hi everyone. Oh never mind lowcal it's hardly anything. Hopefully next week wel see a loss for u! Well for me it's horrible women's week but luckily I did not gain. Stayed the same as last week 10st 9.2!
Well done for managing to maintain during your hormonal week Adheela, that's not an easy thing to do! With a bit of luck, the scales will reward you with a nice big loss next week
Wishing you a smashing week ahead, Onwards and downwards!
Now at 136kg, so that's a couple of kilos less to carry. Unfortunately (for this project!) we are off tomorrow a pre-booked family get-together for a couple of days in a lavish hotel. I am planning some long country walks!
Hi Everyone I am pleased to say that I have lost another pound this week. Last week I was 14st 6.75lbs and this week I am 14st 5.75lbs. I am so pleased - just 1.75lbs to go and I have lost a stone! Well done to everyone else and thank you all for the motivation as well
Congratulations to you for losing another pound this week, that is brilliant! Glad you're feeling pleased, and rightly so - you're getting close to having lost a whole stone! Wow!
Hope you're enjoying the week so far, and here's to another great week ahead.
Pleased to have lost a pound and hoping for another next week. Maintained and not moved in the past couple of weeks so happy enough. Been in the gym a lot over the Easter break. Hard to shift the sweet craving in my head. It's a hard habit to break. Motivated by anticipating my 12-week call up for health re-check - having been somewhat slated at new year.
This is great news to hear you've lost a pound this week - Congratulations! I know you'd maintained for the past couple of weeks, so it must be very satisfying to see some movement again. Well done for getting to the gym a lot over the Easter break.
I hope your 12 week health re-check is a more motivating and pleasant experience than the one you endured previously. I'm sure you'll have lots of positives to share with them, and I hope they appreciate those changes.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and good luck with your goal to lose another pound.
Thanks for your enthusiasm. I have downloaded the app for the life fitness gym machine, which I am not sure was a good idea. I don't have a fit bit, because I am not sure it suits my character - I think it will give me a reason to eat, not deter me. I would cheat, or worry my sleep was inadequate. The gym app keeps a total, which appeals to my competitive nature and makes me realise what I can achieve. I don't 'use' it to prompt me, but it was nice to see I have clocked up 50 miles on different machines over a couple of weeks ( cross trainer and bike). Stopped running cos my knees won't make the distance in life - and the surgeon won't want to hear I have been pounding the treadmill when I am back for a 6th visit!!!! He has a point.
I'm Natalie (26). Today is my first weigh in and I'm 13 stone 5. I have never been above 13 stone before, so I'm feeling pretty disappointed in myself. Have had about 13 operations in the last 2 years, so there is the inevitable 'recovery period' where you are supposed to rest and therefore exercise can be tough. I am now heavier than ever, but also, in terms of my health, healthier than ever, so I'm in a really good place to be able to start taking steps to lose weight and hopefully sustain it longer term
Welcome Natalie-jade. Sounds like you have had a tough couple of years. But you also sound you are in a better place to think about your weight and where you would like to be. I am glad you now feel healthier - as the weight loss journey has it 'ups and down' and you need to be in a good place to start.
Don't be disappointed about your weight - the important thing is that you want to make a start on reducing it.
I would take some baby steps- have a look at pinned post from more less that points you to the NHS plan and how to get a grip on healthy eating. You may want to consider looking at my fitness pal a free site to track what your eat and also your weight and vital statistics. Some of us use both aspect of the site others just track weight, waist chest and hips. It can be encouraging to see these change- not just weight.
then I would look those 5 pounds in the eye and work on them first
Good luck - have a look through some of the posts on this thread and other stories - it will give you an insight into others journey and their challenges.
Hi Natalie, I am so glad you are much better now and can begin to exercise more, I think it helps a lot.
I am sure you will knock off the weight and once you make a start and everything begins to fall in place, you will feel a lot better about yourself, your body and everything.
6.30pm I am going to have some dinner and may be less present tonight, as I have a few things I need to do. But I'll pop in later tonight, all being well.
Good Evening, this is my first day here and my weight this morning was 17.9. I started trying to lose weight in Jan 2015 and my weight then was 19.13. I have been down to 16.5 and have gained over the last 2 months so I'm here to try an re-focus. I walk almost daily between 3-5 miles and do cardio and weights at the gym. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Maiziepops - welcome. And thank you for giving us your stats. You have clearly made great inroads into your weight loss journey and you have shown you have real determination.
This Monday morning thread - is a weekly pit stop for many of us - to receive support and advice - share your blips and trips along the way. There are lots of inspiring stories to keep us all hanging in there- when our motivation dips.
If you have not done so already check out the pinned post on NHS choices - live well - this is a great place to get started and re- focus where you are at.
BTW great walking distances.....you should join one of fizzyliz's challenges-a new one will be starting soon
Hi maiziepops, well done on nipping it in the bud now before you get up to 19.13 again (or if you were me, it would be with an additional couple of stones on top).
Sounds like you have good exercise habits - I find that really helps, especially the weight-lifting.
Back up to 13st - which is a gain of 2lbs. Disappointing but not unexpected given the last week being both stressful (which makes me eat things I shouldn't ) and that time of the month. Will just have to preserve and hope to do better next week
Telute - you have done an excellent self-diagnosis. The Monthly will pass - and hopefully the stress will reduce. No doubt the scales will tip the other way next week.
I am starting my health kick today. I am at my heaviest weight of 11 stone I was a similar weight in 2013 (I started exercising 3/4 times per week for 1-2 hours per session and cut my calorie intake down by at least half). I definitely lost weight but only lost about 16 lbs in about 9 months of hard slog. I don't understand why my body tends to hold onto the weight so much, so it is disheartening to know it's a long, hard and slow road to losing weight for me. I had my daughter last year and it has led to unhealthy choices. I do intend to rejoin the gym soon as it does make me exercise. I am hoping that I was doing something wrong and that following some sort of plan will make the weight loss occur quicker. Good luck to everyone travelling on the same road to the ideal weight! 😊
Welcome Emjayd - thank you for sharing your story. Weight loss is a very frustrating business - most of us struggle with the speed of the loss- i.e. Slow and the ease with which weight just climbs back on.
I am afraid there are no easy quick fixes that are sustainable. Couple of suggestions if you have not taken them up already:
Look at NHS Live well - it is a pinned post on this thread just to get your brain back into the groove of healthy eating etc.
Check out my fitness pal to record your food intake - this can be quite illuminating. You can also record your weight and measurements so you can track progress. You might want to consider checking out your BMI
Exercising with your peeps is challenging - aim for shorter sharper sessions - you can load these into my fitness pal.
Look at marmite rehoming's 4 July challenge (pinned post). If you aimed for a pound a week - that could be a stone lost by 4 July.
Our motto on this thread is sustainable steady weight loss
Thank you suzybenj and LotToLose. I am hoping it's easier this time around too. I am realistic and was aiming for a 1lb per week last time too but it never happened! I am happy to aim for a 1lb a week again. Where is the my fitness pal to be found please? It sounds like a very handy tool. Thanks
Welcome Emjayd, I hope you find this a lot easier, healthy weight loss takes time and if you can make it enjoyable and life-sustaining, hopefully you won't gain it back again afterwards.
Well, I am amazed to say I was 11 st 10 4 and I am now 11 st 8 8. Don't know how that happened as I have eaten steak and chips and pizza this week 😕 but I have also been running around after my 6 year old too as it's easter hols!
Not expecting a loss next week though - it must catch up with me soon, right?!
I think you should write this diet plan up and sell the book, I see £$£$£$ in your future! Seriously though, that is a great weight loss this week - well done!
Hi all one of those days today still i met my half way goal today after losing 3lbs this week and ive now lost 15% of my body weight so on track for my 4th July goal but today i spent all day in hospital and it turns out i might have to slow everything right down- so feeling a bit blue right now but i'll get over it : )
Thanks Suzy such a nice thing to say - i'm sure i'll bounce back- just a bit gutted i've got to change what was working so well for me... c'est la vie i guess
Thanks ltl but if i follow instructions i'll be 5-6lbs heavier next week after carb reloading so i'll be going back over that 1/2 way line the wrong way! - i wont lie i'm pretty gutted after all the sacrifices ive made, so i think once the shock has worn off i'll need to come up with a plan that can get me to goal in a very very slow way : )
That sounds like the best idea, MR, you have got the tools to figure it out and if you get stuck, just ask on here, there is bound to be someone here that has had to do the same and can share their experiences with you.
Hi. As expected I have gained this week, not unexpected if I'm honest. My gain is 3 pounds which almost puts me back at the beginning. I am trying not to dwell on this & I am trying to take each day as it comes, concentrating on small achievements, as I believe this is the only way I am going to succeed. So, today has been a good day. I've eaten sensibly, taken Jarvis (my staffie ) out for a long walk, been to keep fit for an hour & my car passed its MOT So hopefully I will be able to build on this & stay positive. I am hoping to lose 2 pounds this week.
Sorry about the gain this week, but well done for turning it around and getting back on track today - you never know, you may lose all of this weeks gain, I will be crossing my fingers for you!
Thanks LotToLose. I am my own worst enemy! Everything goes well & then I sabotage it. I am determined to turn it round this week, a really good weight loss would be just the ticket
Susie 54 - weight loss is so frustrating!! But you are being very sensible - and taking a fresh look at each day. I have quite like the daily pledges - where folk have just pledged whatever they want to achieve for the day. Saying it out loud as it were concentrates the mind.
I also like to take the small step approach-that builds up incremental loss--no matter how slowly. It all adds up in the end.
Thanks suzibenj. You are quite right weight loss is very frustrating. I am trying to look at it differently this time round, as I have been overweight for a very long time, most if not all of my adult life. I think I have tried most diets, clubs etc but have fallen at one or other of the many hurdles. My problem is I have yet to accept that weight loss is not instant, that it is a lifestyle change. I lack motivation & so if a craving strikes I find it very hard not to give in. I need to try a bit harder at not giving in. Once I put my mind to it I can lose weight quite well, so I'm not going to give up.
I'm new here and I have just have started the NHS 10 week plan to shift some very stubborn and annoying lbs that have crept on over the winter months. My weight this morning was 10'11" and I would like to get down to 9'12" over the 10 weeks.
Oh LowCal, sanguine and calm as ever! I nearly didn't post as I am STILL 11 stone 3.8 so have again maintained but not lost. What more do I have to do!? Stop drinking wine I guess as it certainly isn't excess food that is making me stick. I have lost about half a pound in total over the past six weeks...
Well let's hope for a better week but I did feel like giving up this morning. Porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch, every day, but it is the evenings that must be my undoing....
TC- I feel your pain - but you have maintained hooray. But I know frustrating.....I am not sure what your goals are - but maybe you need to mix it up bit??
I find if I eat fresh veg salads (finely diced carrot, paper, spring onion, chuck in some beet root and olives with some chicken)- my body has to work a bit harder for nutrients
I have also been previously successful with making my last meal of the day - before 7pm - and then nothing until breakfast.
Love wine - but have just given it up for bit - well maybe a week....
I have also just changed my calorie intake by switching down 100 calories a day...
Go back to basics - check portion sizes etc etc. etc....
Do you calorie count ???- maybe check that your allowed amount is still the same??
......just some thoughts.....talking to myself really....i am going to check all these things out for myself
Good advice and thanks. goals are to lose another stone or almost- I'm out of 'danger' on my BMI, just, but want to be less heavy. I tried a different breakfast today and lunch just as you say to 'mix it up a bit'- I do find the wine hard but you are right I don't calorie count so much thes e days, just assume I have had so little I must be Ok ot eat dinner and have a glass of wine- or two. So I will try a different tack with a more varied diet intake and also I will calorie count.. Thanks, as ever!
Hello ladies haven't got round to seeing all the results yet Lowcal you are a twelver for sure now good work, I didn't weigh in last week -too depressed, but this week am 11.1 so that may be.75 per week? This weeks aim maintain and to curtail the marathon celebrations 😜
Great to see you! Yes, I'm a 12-er for sure now - at least I hope so!!!
Congratulations to you for losing 0.75 pound per week, and that is really great!!! I noticed you didn't weigh-in last week (nothing gets past me you know...!), but seriously, sorry you felt too depressed to do so, and glad you're feeling better to weigh-in today!
Good luck with your week's aim to maintain and to curtail your Marathon Celebrations - Many Congratulations on succeeding in running the Marathon - I think that is an immense achievement!
Hi all... Despite having a bad few days, I've managed to drop 0.2kg (half a lb)-only a third of what I aimed to lose (1.5 lb), but I'm happy with that given how things are at the moment (period bloating, generally feeling demoralised)-am just happy not to have put anything on 😄
Well done everyone else and keep fighting the good fight... Tomorrow is another day...
Hello! Congratulations on losing 0.2kg, despite the fact you had a few bad days, and the fact you've got your period and consequently feel bloated - I hope you feel much better really soon. Feeling demoralised is not good. I really hope you will have a better week as the week goes on.
Like you say, tomorrow is another day, and I hope it will be a good day for you! You deserve it!
11.20pm I have to go to bed now, as I've got really tired. So do keep posting, as there may still be some Fab 5'ers up and about, but if not, I'll be back sometime tomorrow to check the threads - and I will respond to any late weighers. We're expecting some people, and we encourage you to weigh, even if you're a couple of days or so late. So please do!
Really enjoyed reading everyone's posts today, very inspirational and very supportive to one another too.
Great to see you! Sorry you couldn't get on with your phone yesterday, that can be very frustrating!
Congratulations on maintaining this week - that is much better than gaining, so hope you're feeling ok with that. Hopefully you'll see a loss coming up soon, all being well.
I feel Ok about it. I have been stuck for a while now though and it is starting to get to me. Ever since before Christmas I have been between 81-83 kg. So this week I got my bike out and also stated using some exercise DVDs again to see if I can trick my body to start loosing again.
My weight loss is extremely slow. I am finally down to 11 stone. 1 more pound and i will have lost 1 stone and be in the 10s. Can't wait for that to happen but the rate i am going it will take another 3 weeks. I am so envious of all you lovely people that can lose a stone in 3 months. I have another stone to go and will belucky to do it inside 6 months. So feel good about losing 1lb a week because i widsh i could
Please don't be concerned about the rate of weight loss - a slow and steady rate is healthy and sustainable, so you're doing well. Congratulations on getting down to 11 stone. You're close to being in the 10's, and close to losing a whole stone - that is brilliant! Really well done.
Thanks for joining us in this Monday group weigh-in session, and I hope we'll see you in future weigh-ins.
Hello again! I know it's late in the day but I keep getting these phases of not sleeping and then having a day where I literally crash out and lose half a day! Not good!
Pleased to report that I lost 2 and 1/2 pounds this week. I'm fairly sure it's to do with the rest helping my leg drain, as the size was much improved when I woke, although I'd rather it lost it's reddish colouring in that area too! Still, any improvement is all good!
As for your tiny gain, Lowcal, I'm sure it's just part of a natural weight fluctuation for you and is not much at all to worry about. I've noticed your gains are very small when they happen, and then they go down again, so it averages out. You always keep your eye on your weight, so I don't think you have to lose sleep over it. Maybe if you suddenly piled on half a stone in a week for no apparent reason and then weren't losing the pounds again to keep on an even keel, you might be starting to think "Hey, what's going on here!". I don't see any cause for alarm though, I think you have this maintaining down to a fine art tbh!
I was expecting you today, and it's great to see you! What a great result you've had this week - Congratulations on losing 2.5 pounds!!!! Really good!!! Like you say, any improvement is all good.
Thanks for your kind words to me also, which I appreciate!
I hope you are enjoying your day and I'd like to wish you another great week ahead.
Weighed in at 13.9 put 2 lbs on although exercise was still active but had problems with measures. My jug and scales broke so not sure if that is the reason this week I am using spoon sizes from recipes that I got from my friend till I get new scales and jug.
Great to see you! Glad to hear you've been keeping up with your exercise, but sorry to hear your jug and scales broke, so you haven't been able to be as accurate with your measuring. Good idea to use the spoon size as a guage within the recipes this week, until you can get new scales and jug. It does show how much portion sizes and measurements are important, doesn't it. I'm sure you'll get your 2 pound gain off again really soon.
I hope you're enjoying trying some recipes, and that you're having a good week. Enjoy that exercise.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
Lowcal

Great to see you, and I hope you feel ok about having maintained your weight, because we do consider a 'maintain' to be much better than a gain, so I would like to Congratulate you for that. Hopefully you'll have a further loss for next week, all being well. Good luck, and I hope you have a really lovely weekend - it's nearly here!
