Pork Pie slimming food.

I was at work two days ago. I had my usual porridge for breakfast then fruit for lunch.

When I went into the office in the afternoon a contractor had left a big pile of Barnsley ( the best ever) Pork pies. I couldn't resist it and scoffed one. It was delicious.

Thought about it after I had consumed it so instead of the roast beef dinner I had planned I had some home made smoked mackerel pate and salad.

Did my usual weigh in the next morning and found I had lost 1 1/4 lbs.

If anyone is interested in a low cal smoked mackerel pate It is really easy to make.

I pack smoked mackerel.

Couple of tablespoons of Total 0% yoghurt

Lemon juice to taste

Skin the mackerel, blitz everything in a blender or use a hand blender till smooth.

I don't measure this so use the yoghurt and lemon juice sparingly till you get the consistency and taste you like. It is delicious and healthy.

Hi Andy, perhaps the pork pie was an early present. Your builders name isn't Claus is it? :d You done the right thing :D

The mackerel pate is something my father used to make, thanks for reminding me. It's strange how tastes and smell can evoke such memories. I think I shall make some on Boxing day.

Have a great day :)

Hi Andyt2120,

Many thanks for sharing your recipe for Smoked Mackerel pate, it sounds delicious and healthy. I will definitely give it a go sometime.

Great that you've lost 1.25 pound this week, that's a great result.

Hope you have a great and festive week.

Lowcal :-)

That was 1.25 lbs in a day. Had a heavy weekend so gained a few pounds. Have lost 3 lbs all the weight gain so far this week. Nearly forgot, another heavy weekend coming up so straight back into weight loss mode on Monday. Have successfully maintained my healthy BMI give or take a few pounds for over 3 months now. I do,it by weighing daily and altering what I eat depending on any weight gain but my diet is generally more relaxed now with more treats. Still try and avoid all sweet things and processed sugar though and definitely low carbs in the main.

Really great. Congratulations on maintaining successfully for 3 months now, that is brilliant. :-)

Congrats on the weight loss. Your mackerel paste is the exact answer for me on how to store mackerel in small freezerable amounts. My husband won't eat it and too much available to me is not good for my self control. I can make it up then portion it up and put it in the freezer.

A Morrisons pork pie - the proper ones in the 4 pack, made with lard in the pastry - is only 438 calories. Mushy peas and sauce are optional ☺

My daughter loves fish and seafood. This pate would go down very well. 😊
