I'm a 17 year old female who needs to lose 2.5 stone. There was a point a couple of years ago where I was actually underweight because I became ill with a medical condition called Chronic Fatigue. I had no appetite so I barely ate anything. Since becoming physically well (not 100% better but improved a lot) I have been eating loads of junk food. I also have an underactive thyroid which I take thyroxine for. In the past month I have put on 1 stone... I am starting this program on Monday 3rd August and I'm nervous but excited. I'm also going to start Couch to 5k. Wish me luck everyone!!

It is actually quite exciting isn't it! Have you consulted your doctor or practice nurse? I think that with your health issues and because you are young and your body is still developing it might be wise to seek some professional advice. I know that makes me sound like an old fusspot but , I don't want you making yourself ill again..
The couch to 5k is really good, I think you'll enjoy it. I've always hated exercise but have quite enjoyed the c25k, especially the smug feeling I get when I've finished the session!
Like lots of people on this forum I use the myfitnesspal app to keep track of my calorie intake. I would suggest that you don't ban any foods, if you do you just crave them more.
Thanks for mentioning the myfitnesspal app. I am a devoted tech head so having just downloaded it and scanned all the barcodes from my brekky I am hooked already lol
Hi Blondiex! Welcome to the forum! I was inspired to lose weight by a few people - one of whom had got rid of 2.5 stone of unwanted weight following childbirth. I was struck by how proud of her self she was and her obvious sense of achievement. She had really enjoyed the process and enjoyed the results even more! So get inspired!
Sorry to learn about your CFS & Thyroid stuff - linggirl is right to say get your medics to give you the green light but don't wait for permission to start!
How about this as a suggestion - Don't Loose Weight!
Instead, go and grab a load of skinniness and fitness! Humans don't like losing stuff but we do like getting something for nowt! Focus on what you are going to gain, how much fun it is going to be and how cool it will be along the way. The NHS Weight Loss Plan really works so give it a go.
Use the Forum too 'cos this works really well - I know, I'm 8 KG lighter after 5 weeks, getting fitter and into clothes from the back of the wardrobe - you will be too pretty soon.
Make sure your scales are accurate (digital ones are good) and measure yourself waist, thighs etc etc so you can see your transformation in all its aspects.
Have a look online at park run - there will be one near you and its a 5k run every Saturday full of people absolutely mad for you to succeed. I'll be doing my first one pretty soon.
You are making all the right choices and when you discover how easy it is to improve your fitness and the way you look and feel you'l be amazed!
Let us know how you are doing and if you have any problems or questions post here first - you'll get loads of support!
ENJOY!
Another advocate for couch to 5k - I did this first and then started the 12 week weight loss plan afterwards. I found the couch to 5k really helped to change my attitude. I prefer to run in the morning, so if I've had a blowout, a few glasses of wine, a heavy meal etc the night before, then I'd find the run more difficult. I started thinking ahead while I was eating /planning my dinners to make sure I would be fit for my next run. You also get a great feeling of appetite afterwards - your body really wants to receive some good nutrition. People get really into having good fresh porridge, bananas etc after a run. Hope you find it works like this for you too, good luck
Thanks for all of your replies! I have spoken to my doctor about it and he's all up for it!! I think he'll be happy to see me lose weight (he's been bugging me for the last month about it). Tomorrow is the day...
