Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 5.0 pounds, and this week I weigh 13 stone 3.6 pounds, so I've lost 1.4 pounds this week. I am thankful to be losing some of the Bank Holiday weight gain (2 pounds) I put on last week, and hopefully I'll lose the rest of it this week and begin to make in-roads into my weight loss again.
I plan to do a bit more exercise this week, especially some core strength exercises and some regular walks.
This is my 100th Post - which seems amazing to think I've posted so many times, but this weigh-in has been going for a while now, and it's bound to add up.
I hope you'll join me for this Monday weigh-in and I look forward to catching up with you. If you're new, and would like to join us, please do - you are very welcome and good luck with your weight loss journeys.

Disappointed to report 2lb gain to 12stone despite 2 x 10k races, boot camp and running and being very active in the week and really not feeling I've over eaten.
I don't buy the - "it's muscle building" line. Very frustrated as my running pace has slowed considerably which I'm guessing due to extra stone am carrying around since last year. Not sure how to get things moving. I get bored recording things on myfitnesspal and used to be a Weightloss group leader & fitness instructor ffs!
Not sure why you gained 2lbs with all that exercise. I would have said muscle weight or water weight. I have also heard the usual stories about monitoring body changes rather than watching the scales. If you are not recording food intake then it is easy to eat more than you realize.
On the plus side at least you can run 10k! If I could run even 5 minutes it would be an Oscar winning moment
Hmmm it doesn't sound as though you should be gaining....
It may be that although you don't feel as though you have been eating more that there have been some small changes....Have portion sizes crept up? Have you not been calorie counting?
Alternatively, have you been eating enough? That is a lot of exercise and you may not be giving yourself sufficient fuel...
Have you tried the 5:2 diet? It's good for not letting your body get into a routine with food and might kick-start your weight loss.....
Maybe you need to try a different type of exercise to shock your body; maybe some high intensity training e.g spin class or some weights/ resistance work to burn fat...?
Wow, you've been really active this week - well done for completing the two 10K races, the boot camp and the running - you certainly have been very active in the week. I'm wondering if perhaps all that exercise might have made you retain more water - i.e. as your body tries to repair itself. Therefore, the water may suddenly leave your body over the next few days and I would imagine you might have a sudden drop in your body weight.
I'm not sympathising with you - but I can't be mean and cruel either.
Try not to let the weight gain bother you too much Bealmor - I think if you continue your exercise and healthy eating, you'll see the results on the scales very soon. Just keep going!
Well done on the weight loss this week.....if only taking it off were as easy as putting it on! You are doing so well, keep up the great work and keep sight of your goals.
Didn't weigh in last week as scales showed that I had gained almost a stone GAWK! Realised the battery was going in the scales so replaced and can report that in two weeks have lost 5.4lbs.......PHEW!
Also noted that started on the weight loss programme on this site a year ago today. In that time have lost four and a half stone through the support and encouragement of you all. Yes, Prin, I now wear those Desigual blouses that led me to want to lose weight in the first place. They didn't fit me, but I bought them anyway knowing I could fit them which I now do of course. Despite all reasons for falling off the wagon along the way, I have and am achieving exactly what my heart desired.
Yes I still have a couple more stone to lose BUT I know I can do it. I wonder what I will be posting this time next year???
You too are doing wonderfully. The best message that I can give you is never to lose sight of why you started this journey in the first place. We all have personal events in our lives that evolve into relapses but if you want it badly enough then the strength to continue despite all odds will shine through.
We are all here to offer our support and encouragement whenever needed. Good luck Corrine and keep following your heart. X
amazing well done! very encouraging indeed. Wishing it was me who had lost that 4 stones lol sitting here at my desk feeling very uncomfortable with my large arms and massive belly. I only lost 1lb but in the past yr I have gained 12kg (2 stones) from the scales creeping up every week, despite my best efforts to stop it, so I am relieved this is the first week in a long time that it hasn't gone up.
Why shouldn't it be you Gracie? I have to smile cos it was me saying the exact same thing a year ago today. Just how badly do you want this? Why do you want this? Don't ever lose sight of where your heart is, take small achievable steps at a time and know that we are all here to support and encourage. Even IF you should fall flat on your face at some stage, just be brave enough to stand right back up and get going again pretty sharpish! Good luck. You can do it!!! XXX
Glad you found us, and once again Congratulations on losing a pound this week - that's really great. I always imagine a pound of butter or lard on a plate to represent a pound, and it helps me to celebrate the loss when I imagine it like that.
I used to be 18 stone 8 pounds at my largest, and I used to think I'd never achieve a lighter body, but I've lost over 5 stone now, and I feel so much healthier and fitter and happier.
Every pound lost is something to celebrate. Have you printed off the NHS 12 week structured plan? It's really good - lots of advice and information there. It's a good plan to follow. Also, using the Myfitnesspal app is helpful as it records all the calories and exercise and can help you keep on track. It's a free app - really useful.
Very inspiring to hear your progress over the year - you have done really well, and Congratulations also for the 5.4 pounds you've lost in the last 2 weeks, that's brilliant! It must be good to see those scales going down again. Keep enjoying wearing those Desigual blouses - they were a good goal to spur you on to lose the weight.
It's amazing to hear you've lost 4.5 stones over the past year - that is a considerable achievement, and you sound well motivated and positive about losing your remaining 2 stones - really good.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and thanks for your encouraging words.
Hi Lowcal. I'm pleased to report that I have also lost 5lb over 2 weeks. It didn't show up at all after the first week but this week I'm 16 stone and 3 lbs. 2weeks ago I was 16 stone 8lbs. I am really pleased about this and like you am going to do a bit more exercise. I went for a 3 mile walk yesterday and plan to fit some in at lunch time at work.
Congratulations to you for losing 5 pounds in 2 weeks - that is really great progress. It shows it's good to 'keep going' despite not seeing a loss on the scales in one particular week, and then it comes off eventually with perseverance. So well done for persevering!
I hope you enjoyed your 3 mile walk yesterday, and good luck with fitting in some exercise at lunch-times too.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Woohoo well done Lowcal. That's great that's you've lost most of the 2lb Bank Holiday weight. Good to know that you can indulge a little and then get back to where you were Wow 100 posts, that's a lot! Thanks for doing the Monday weigh-in, it's a great motivator for us all over the weekend and it's good to see familiar names (and new ones) on the Monday weigh-in. I know that it must take up a lot of time to answer us all - please know that it is appreciated
So at the end of week 9 I have lost another 4 lbs, bringing me to a total of 31 lbs. I'm really pleased to have lost over 2 stone, meaning that I am about a third of the way there in my weight loss journey.... onwards and upwards
Have a great week and I hope that all the Lowcal-ers have a good weigh-in and a great week too.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words. I appreciate them!
Congratulations to you for losing another 4 pounds, and achieving a total loss of 31 pounds - that's really brilliant! Great that you're already a third of the way along your weight loss journey - and like you say, onwards and upwards (although hopefully continually 'downwards' on the scales).
Brilliant Lowcal I am so happy for you. It's always good to see all your efforts have paid off. You are getting so close to reaching a mile stone I wish I was down there with you lol. I am now 13.7 so I am hoping to achieve my mile stone in the next 4 weeks and if it comes off sooner then great. I wish you the best of luck for next weeks weigh in and a great week ahead which I am sure you will be celebrating with your loss this week.
You will get there Mello17 just believe in yourself and you will do it. I haven't stopped believing in myself since my journey started and even with all that is going on in my life right now the journey continues.
Yes, getting closer to the 13 stone mark is definitely a goal for me too, and I think you've set yourself a good rate of weight loss to enable you to reach it within the next 4 weeks. Like you say, if it comes off sooner, then great, but don't put pressure on yourself. You're doing really well.
Lost 2lb this week, half my holiday weight gain after a trip to the lakes. Probably could have lost more but fell off the wagon a bit this weekend! It's the odd glass of wine that's my downfall.....
Plans for this week is to add some strength training into my walking routine.
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, and getting rid of half your holiday weight after that trip to the Lakes. Hopefully the other half will be gone soon as well. Good idea to do some strength training within your walking routine - hope that goes really well. Maybe think of some strategies to help yourself with your odd glass of wine being your downfall - I have started buying those small bottles of wine, which mean I can't have more than that amount, and I find it satisfies my wish for a glass of wine, without being over the top. Also, I only allow myself alcohol on weekends and maybe one evening in the week.
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, and getting back to your pre-Bank holiday Monday weight. Hopefully you're back on track, as you say, and you'll be coasting to another loss next week.
This is my first week weighing in. Thank you Lowcal, it was reading your thread last week that made me think this board was a good idea. I like feeling accountable! Congratulations on your loss this week too.
Last week I weighed 10stone 10lbs. This week I weigh 10stone 6lbs. So a loss of 4lbs in my first week. Its been really hard to stick to the diet - but I'm pleased with my 1st result.
A very warm welcome to you, and really happy that you've joined us for this Monday weigh-in. Glad that the thread last week helped you to join in - the positivity of everyone is really great, and I find everyone is really supportive and friendly - a great community of like-minded people.
Wow, what a great start to your weight loss journey - Congratulations on losing 4 pounds in your first week, that's really great.
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, and really great to hear you've lost 1 stone in total - fantastic!!! That is a great milestone to achieve, and really exciting! Well done you.
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week. I know you said you had a bit of a blow-out on the weekend, but you've still achieved a pound of weight-loss, and that's really good!
I find that weekends are the most challenging time for me, and that's partly why I always weigh-in on Monday mornings, because I am sure the knowledge that the weigh-in is coming up means that I don't indulge as much as I would if I was going to weigh-in later in the week. It acts as a bit of a deterrent for me.
I know you're having a weekend with friends next weekend, so I hope you have an enjoyable time. But definitely try to weigh-in on the Monday after it, and hopefully it will keep you on track knowing you are going to weigh-in so soon afterwards! Hopefully you'll be reporting another loss.
Wishing you a great week.
Lowcal
Doing good girl,my weigh day fri but I do check in.
Hi lowcal, glad to hear you managed to lose some of your holiday weight! According to the scale I've put on 2lbs this week but I'm not overly bothered as I've got my period and normally weight comes bk off afterwards, well at least I'm hoping so!
Yes, I'm relieved to have lost a bit of the Bank Holiday weight.
Sorry to hear you've gained 2 pounds this week, but at least you know where it's come from - periods usually cause weight gain in my experience, and like you say, it should come back off afterwards - so you'll have a loss next week.
Wishing you a good week ahead.
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal, well done on losing 1.4lb, that's really good, a move in the right direction and hopefully more loss will follow now. As you know, I finally decided to follow the 12 week NHS plan, and started it last Monday. Previously I had done couch to 5k, and during that lost 3lb overall (since January). Now, since last Monday, I have lost another 3lb. In just a week. But I'm aware that weight loss is a bit faster at the start of a low calorie diet, so I won't be complacent. I'm sticking to 1400 daily limit, I'm not allowing myself extra calories when I exercise, and I'm drastically reducing alcohol, have cut out cheese altogether, and having lovely salads with my lunches and dinners, carried with in a tupperware when I'm out and about. So to recap: Jan-May I lost 3lb from 12st4 to 12st1. Since starting the NHS plan last week I've lost 3lb from 12st1 to 11st12. Hoping to remain below 12st next week and to lose another 2lb. As you can probably tell I'm feeling really positive and determined and pleased with myself especially after several months of struggling to see any change. Thanks for all the encouragement that's helped me finally make the right changes
Wow, what a great start in your first week on the NHS plan - Congratulations on losing 3 pounds in your first week on it. That's great!!!
You've definitely made some significant changes, and it's great to hear how positive and determined you are, as well as how deservedly pleased you feel. Especially exciting that you've moved from the 12's into the 11's - well done you!
Your idea to take your salad with you in the tupperware box when you're out and about is a great idea. Pre-planning and being prepared are what really help with sticking to goals.
Talking of cutting down on things, I am resolving to reduce my consumption of butter, as I realised last week that I was putting 'slathers of butter' on things, rather than a thin spread of the stuff. Those calories definitely add up, slather by slather…
I think those small changes really help. I've replaced my butter with a low fat spread, and you can only buy them in big tubs so I'm committed to using that up now, which will take me months I reckon! I'm really hoping these changes lead to sustainable weight loss. Once I'm 11st7 I will be trying on my size 14 jeans again to see if they fit comfortably, so that's my motivation at the moment. Hopefully I can get there by end of June/ early July. Have a great week, and good luck making small changes like with the butter
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks so much for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. It's great that you spotted the NHS weight loss plan last week, and that you've decided to give it a go.
I hope you'll find it helpful and I wish you lots of success with your weight loss journey - and shifting those 22 kg.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and look forward to catching up with you.
Welcome to you, and thanks for joining us. It's great to see some new people, and I hope you'll enjoy this forum and find it as supportive and helpful as I have.
Great to hear you're re-starting, and hope you find your focus and make great progress.
Here's what we were doing two years ago OMG I was 12st 9lbs! Well today's weigh in I am 10st 13 so pleased to be back in the 10's!
Happy 100th post Lowcal 🎊🎊🎈🎈and thank you for all the help and support over the last couple of years helping me achive and maintain my size 10 self😜
A good week for me in the gym tried insanity it's ace
A busy June for me off to London tomorrow to see my sister,as she is flying in from barbados on her way to Helsinki, we are off to the Alexander McQeen exhibition at the V&A then off to see Billy Elliot in the evening, then my son arrives back home on Saturday so probably killing a fattend calf!
So goal for this week is to stay in the 10's since Ascot is just 18 days away AND I have a weekend in Nantes before then........ Have a good week folks 🔆🔆
I took some time to read the post from 2 years ago, and you and I are the only 'regulars' there in that particular post, at that time - so well done to us for staying the course! You are a great companion on the weight loss journey, and you've always spurred me on - as well as your invaluable help when I've been away on holiday those times, as you took the reins and kept things going - so thank you!!!!
My weight 2 years ago was 14 stone 5.2 pounds, so it's good that I'm over a stone down from then. You have done so well to retain your size 10 self - really brilliant.
Great that you have some nice things to look forward to in June - Ascot will soon be here, and great that you have that weekend in Nantes beforehand. Most exciting that your son is coming home on Saturday - I'm sure you'll have a great weekend.
Hope you have a great time seeing your sister as well. That Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A should be amazing. You're seeing 'Billy Elliott' next - wow, you have lots of exciting things!!! Enjoy!!!
Congratulations Prin for getting into the 10's - must feel great! I have stuck at 11st 2lbs for the last two weeks (frustrating!!) I hope to join you in the 10's soon. Enjoy your busy fun-filled weeks ahead :)))
Sorry to hear you've got stuck at 11 stone 2 pounds for the last 2 weeks, that must feel frustrating, but at least you've not gained, and hopefully it will reduce soon!
You're very close to the 10's, so hopefully you'll be joining Prin there really soon!
Well done on your weight loss this week, I bet your really pleased. I'm still on holiday,, won't be weighing in until 15th June, hopefully won't have put too much weight on but will get back to it when I return. Making the most of the lovely weather, food and wine.
Hope the weather starts to improve in UK when I get back.
Good Luck to everyone, I am so glad I joined the weighin as it has helped me to lose weight and deffinatly enjoy my holiday more.
I hope you're enjoying your holiday - it's great that you took the time to pop in and 'see' us all here - glad to hear you're making the most of the lovely weather, food and wine. Relax and enjoy! Holidays are precious times to chill out and enjoy life.
I hope the weather is kind to you when you get back to the UK.
Morning all, and congrats on your progress. I've just completed Week 3 but this is my first time posting a weigh-in. I had reached 16 stone despite my reasonably healthy vegetarian diet (I blame it on a love of butter and cheese, plus the perils of portion-size creep) and realised I need to redefine my relationship with food as well as working towards a target. To my surprise I find I'm actually enjoying the NHS weight loss programme as it's forced me to try out all sorts of healthier foods I hadn't explored before, rather than just shovelling the usual favourites down my gullet. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how quickly it made me start to feel better. By the end of Week 1 I was already feeling more bouncy and energised, with no more rashes from over-tight clothes, even if the weight loss isn't visible yet. I lost 4lbs in Week 1, and 2lb in Week 2. A good start.
Last week I ran into another surprise. My weight loss slowed right down, and then I gained 3lbs overnight! No I hadn't binged, I've been following the NHS plan to the letter, and getting plenty of exercise too. It had to be just a blip. I then realised that my ring was painfully tight and the weight gain was down to sudden water retention. You've guessed it, good old girlie hormones! I hadn't been prepared for this, but a bit of research on the internet showed that gaining weight a few days before your time of the month is common to the point of being normal. My weight has been all over the place this week but I have a net loss of 1lb for Week 3, which is not bad in the circumstances. I guess this is why the programme encourages us to weigh once a week rather than following all the bizarre ups and downs from day to day, but I think it's still useful to see these patterns and learn how your body changes through the month.
So, 7lb lost in three weeks, and feeling healthy, positive and encouraged!
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. I really enjoyed reading your post, and can hear your enthusiasm for the NHS weight loss plan - you've certainly done really well, losing 7 pounds in 3 weeks, and Congratulations for your successful progress.
It's great that you're feeling 'bouncy and energised' by the plan, and that you've enjoyed choosing healthier foods, and trying new things as part of that. I think it helps to keep things varied - as it's hard to get bored with it then, and also trying new things can sometimes be surprising. I like to add spices to things - like red chilli peppers or root ginger, and find I really enjoy those flavours. I think they help my metabolism as well.
You made a really good point in terms of noticing the water retention during your period, and the weight gain you experienced as a result of that. It usually happens to me, and many others have said the same thing in this forum.
Hope you have another great week ahead, and hope to see you in future posts, threads and weigh-ins.
Good Morning Lowcal, first I would just like to echo what others have said by saying a big thank you for organising us with a Monday weigh-in and for taking the time to answer each and every post, it's encouraging to know there's a specific day and place to post what we've achieved (or not) during the previous week, and your helpful comments are much appreciated. Well done too for managing to lose 1.4lbs; those Bank Holidays have much to answer for! Well I'm relieved to say I lost another 2lbs this week, relief because I did have a minor blip during last week but thankfully over the week it didn't do any damage. I appear to lose a steady 2lbs a week and that is all I intended at the beginning of the 12 weeks so it's going according to plan. Have a good week everybody.
Thank you so much for your very kind words - I appreciate them!
Congratulations to you for losing another 2 pounds this week - that is really brilliant! It's good to hear you survived a minor blip and that it didn't affect your progress. I think your weight loss pace is really good - keep it up!
Many congrats on your loss this week. I read your post from 2 years ago that Prin put up, it's really good to see you are over a stone lighter since then but I was laughing because clearly you consistently run into Bank Holiday Bother!
I totally agree with you about the Monday weigh-in acting as a deterrent over the weekend, although I actually weigh myself first thing every Sunday morning and post on this thread the following day. Friday is my most vulnerable time as I am inclined to reward myself for hard work during the week - Sunday is my more relaxed day - we have a roast each Sunday and it's the only day of the week I allow myself a dessert, so if I get my weigh-in out the way I don't feel guilty about indulging more than usual on the Sunday - it's funny how we all have our own little coping mechanisms going on!
Last week I weighed 11.7 and this week I weigh 11.5. I was 13.5 when I started the NHS plan, so I have lost 2 stone. This makes me half way there to achieving my target weigh of 9st5lbs.
Good luck to you Lowcal and everyone else posting on the thread for a good weight loss week ahead xx
Thanks so much for your kind words, and encouragement. I really appreciate it. Yes, I do regularly face 'Bank Holiday Bother' - I noticed that too, when comparing the two posts… Definitely a theme!
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, and to achieving a total loss of 2 stones - that is really great!!!! Exciting to hear you're already half-way to your ultimate goal, you're making great progress.
Yes, we all develop little coping mechanisms, and sharing some of those can be really helpful in terms of trying out different things - some things work for some people and not others, it's all a personal journey, but we can support one another by sharing things that have helped and things that have hindered.
I hope you have another great week ahead.
Lowcal
What an inspirational thread. Congratulations to everyone. This is a really wonderful site. I lost 4lb on my first week and kicked my sugar habit!
Thanks for your kind words. I love this site too - it is very inspiring.
Congratulations to you for losing 4 pounds in your first week, and for your success in relation to your sugar habit - I hope you're feeling good and enjoying your week.
I've managed to lose another 3lbs this week despite a very large cake on Saturday - it might catch up with me next week. I am starting to see a slight difference in my clothes which is encouraging; my bras are loose and my shoes are too wide!
Congratulations on losing 3 pounds this week, despite that very large cake you had on Saturday! It's great that you've noticed some difference in your clothes - although I guess you'll need to go clothes shopping soon to get some new things!
I hope you are well and huge congrats on your 100th post! Us 'followers' are lucky you are so dedicated and committed to this - I am sure everyone is as appreciative as I am that every Monday (no matter what) there is a 'Please join me....' thread. It has definitely helped to motivate me and the support and encouragement you give to each and every one of us is inspirational.
Well done on the loss also this week - I seem to have come to a halt and have stayed the same at 11st 2lbs for the last two weeks. I skipped last week as the Bank Holiday threw me and I also had a week off work so it was Tuesday before I knew it and hadn't weighed so left it until today. I suppose a STS is ok considering I have had a bit of a lazy week and have certainly eaten and drunk more than usual. I have been challenged by a friend to go 30 days alcohol free for June which will be a bit of a struggle but thought might help to kick-start the losses again. I really want to follow Prin into the 10's!
I hope you have a good week and that come next week we can both say we're losers!
I didn't realise you'd posted down here, as I just responded to you further up the thread - but just read your post and now realise why you've probably stayed the same for 2 weeks - it's understandable when you've had some holiday, and the Bank Holiday of course, and I think it's great that you've not gained anything, so Congratulations for that! I think that's definitely an achievement, and should be celebrated!
Your challenge to go 30 days alcohol free sounds like a good option to help you follow Prin into the 10's - hope you manage to cope with that.
Thanks so much for your very kind and encouraging words - I do appreciate them, and I'm glad that people like yourself take the time to join me in this Monday thread, as you are all such lovely inspiring people - so thank you!
Hi Lowcal, well done on your loss this week I've kept on missing the boat so to speak for the last few weeks, so this is my first check in for 4 weeks!!! I am 16st 10lbs (or was yesterday morning when I weighed myself) I embarked on dry June yesterday in order to kick start my weight loss again - I have several parties this month so on those occasions I am going to have a couple of vodka lime and sodas, and Ascot weekend is going to be a booze cruise so to speak and it is all inclusive so will be giving myself the weekend off for that!! (apart from all that.. dry) I know it is the wine I drink that is my biggest barrier to weight loss so hopefully will still see a change on the scales. Hope everyone has a good weight loss week - I'm determined to check in on Monday next week!
Hope your 'dry June' goes well - and great that your Ascot weekend is coming up - I'm sure you'll have a lovely time! Good idea to have a weekend off for that.
Hopefully you'll have a loss on the scales, as a result of having less alcohol this month, and look forward to catching up with you at next week's weigh-in.
@lowcal Hi this is Feelgood41 reporting 10th October.
Have gained 1lb from last Monday 3rdOct. Due to Husband's birthday (he is diabetic2) and me consuming his Hobnob bars. Will have make serious adjustments in time for my own birthday towards end of month. I WILL do it!!!
We still haven't seen you in the actual current Monday group weigh-in - so we can't count you unless you go in there. I'll pop back with the link to the Afternoon/Evening thread is a minute - so try just one more time (if you're happy to of course) - but wait for the link - I'll pop back with it in a moment!
Thank you Anon-E-Mouse I realised afterwards and then posted on today's - as was intentioned!! I guess I could have deleted it.. but then I wouldn't have chatted with you!!
Have a great week ahead and well done on your 2 stone badge/loss.
