Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 2.2 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.6 pounds, so I've gained 0.4 pound today. I had a couple of big meals this week - including a Chinese meal and also a really large pizza meal, and had put on about 3 pounds, which then took a few days to go away again, so I'm pleased that I've ended up fairly similar to last week's weight in the end.
I have continued to do a walk most days, and I"ve done some weight training exercises on 3 days this week, which I'm pleased about.
This week I'd like to lose 1 pound, so that's my aim.
I hope you've all had a great week, and I hope you'll join me to share your experiences at this weigh-in. Looking forward to catching up with you all, and if you're new, then why not join us as well.
Everyone is welcome to join in with this Monday weigh-in.

Love your honesty and positive approach. That slight weight gain really doesn't matter, especially as you have done so well with your excersize routine and you are back on track now. Well done.
Did you see the Horizon programme on diet? They said on there that if you slip up then it really doesn't matter so long as you get back to the healthy eating and don't beat yourself up over it. I think that not beating yourself up is the key really - in the great scheme of things the odd big meal/treat doesn't matter.
After stalling last week I'm down to 10st 10.75 lb this week so really chuffed. I read that digital scales don't like the cold so I put them in the living room last night and got weighed in there this morning
Thanks so much for your encouraging words. Yes, I did see the Horizon programme, and it's good that it recommends keeping on track after any set-back.
Congratulations to you on losing weight this week - that's really great! Well done! I hope you had an enjoyable week and that you have another good one ahead.
Hi Lowcal, I'm glad you're pleased with the end result and I'm sure you'll lose your pound next week. Sometimes we all need and deserve a treat! I have managed to lose just over 3 pounds this week which I'm ecstatic about as it puts me just over my first stone lost which I was hoping would happen this week.
I'm still keeping to my targets and I managed to go swimming 3 times this week as well as a nice family walk on Saturday.
I'm hoping to lose a pound next week also but as it's my TOM I won't be able to go swimming so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the horrible weather stops and I'm able to go out walking throughout the week. I normally don't care about the weather but my little boy is only 7 1/2 months and is already a little snuffly so don't feel I can take him out in the cold.
Hope everyone else has had a good week. Good luck everyone!
Congratulations to you for losing just over 3 pounds this week. Amazing! Wow, you're just over your first stone lost, and that's brilliant. Also, it's great that you've kept to your targets, and you've done your swimming and walking. Both great exercise.
Thanks for your encouraging words - yes, it's nice to have a treat sometimes. I was a bit annoyed with myself over my choice of pizza though - normally I pick the thin crust pizzas but wasn't as selective with the one I bought - it ended up being about 825 calories, when normally it would have been about 550 or so. It wasn't as tasty either, as it seemed to be very gooey cheese. I like cheese, but somehow it tasted a bit over processed if you know what I mean. I will be more careful with my future choices.
Hope you are able to get out for some walks this week, and that the weather might brighten up a bit for that. Hope your little boy gets over his snuffles soon.
It's good that you stayed roughly the same! I too had Chinese this week. Don't see the point in denying myself these kind of things on occasion! Especially when I'm craving haha.
Last Monday I weighed 12 stone 9.6, today I weigh 12 stone 8. So lost 1.6 pounds this week which I'm really happy with. Can't wait to be 11 something!
This week in focusing on my exercise (did absolutely none last week) which I know could really make a difference to how much I lose.
Congratulations to you for losing 1.6 pounds this week. That's really great, and good to hear you enjoyed your Chinese meal as well.
Great to hear you're planning to add in some exercise this week, that should definitely help your fitness and health. Hope you find something that you'll enjoy doing. That does help.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us. Have you seen the NHS 12 week weight-loss plan? That is a great structure with some helpful advice.
You mentioned goals, and it is helpful to have those in mind, and try to stick with them. I find it very motivating to post on Mondays, because it helps to keep me 'on track' - I think support in these forums is so helpful, and it can be really motivating.
I hope you have a really good week, and I hope to see you at future weigh-ins, if you fancy joining us.
Hi, well done on managing your diet this week. If I had eaten a Chinese I know that I would not have been able to lose weight this week! On the scales this morning after a large family dinner yesterday and I have only lost 1lb. but I am not disappointed. Had a great morning with my two young grandchildren (3 and 8.75 - don't forget the three quarters Nana!). Still bouncing on the trampoline to the lively music of Pink. Have a great week everyone and see you next Monday. BTW. Great informative program on Horizon - makes you think...
I am really glad that you're not feeling disappointed by your 1 pound loss, because I think it is something to be celebrated! So many Congratulations on losing 1 pound. You've done really well.
I think it's great that you're still enjoying your trampolining exercise to Pink's music - sounds really energetic and fun.
Yes the Horizon programme was informative.
Wishing you another great week ahead. Catch up with you next week.
Hi lowcal, well done on getting rid of that 3lb from the chinese! I know that feeling! This week I have managed to lose 2lb taking me to 10stone11. I am really pleased with this as I'm still struggling to stick to my calorie allowance. I need to concentrate a bit more I think as I am very close to my target and want to get there. I restarted yoga this week and found it so much easier having lost 4 stone since I last did it! I hope this will help to tone up my stomach as well as burning a few extra calories. I hope to lose a couple more pounds this week to get me a bit closer to my target. I hope everyone else has a good week!
Congratulations to you on losing 2 pounds this week, that's really great! Also great to hear you're getting very close to your target. Amazing to hear you've lost 4 stone since you last did your yoga. You must have noticed such a difference. Hope you're enjoying doing the yoga again.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Hi I am happy this week because i have lost 2lb
Hi Lowcal
You have done really well to keep up your walks. I cannot get motivated to do mine again at the moment. Somehow I just still feel tired after the grandchildren being here. I only walk if I have to go somewhere as I haven't got a car. How can I get motivated again because I love walking really?
Hope you have a good week and lose that pound. Keep going you know you can do it!
Firstly, Congratulations on losing 2 pounds. That's really great! Really well done. Secondly, sounds like you're doing lots of rushing around having your Grandchildren around, and that must be using up quite a bit of energy. I can understand you don't necessarily feel like walking when you're feeling tired.
Although I keep up with my walks, I certainly don't necessarily 'feel like' doing them - some days I am looking forward to it, but just at the moment it is definitely more difficult as the weather has been not great. I've been caught in rain and hail a couple of times, and that was not nice, but I just persevered because I was already too far from home to get back easily!
The thing is that I tend to eat more total calories, i.e. averaging 2,000 calories a day, and therefore my exercise is my way to get my calorie intake down, and my net calories this week have been between 1,300 to 1,600. Yesterday, my total calories were 2,572 (I usually eat a bit more on weekends), and my net calorie for yesterday was 1,521 (as I did a long walk and also did some weight training).
I'm trying to stick to healthy eating whenever I can, and doing plenty of exercise, so that it will be a lifestyle to stick to for the future. I know I'll probably lose this remaining 9.6 pounds very slowly like this, but I suspect I'll be able to continue with this eating pattern in the future, and hopefully not put back the excess weight. I used to be 18 stone 8 pounds at my heaviest, and I'm 13 stone 2.6 pounds now.
Sorry for this lengthy response Pog1, I guess what I'm trying to say to you is that it can be hard to feel motivated some days, but the thing is that if you persevere and go for it, you can do it.
You are losing weight, and you've lost 2 pounds this week. So celebrate that, and have another great week ahead. You're doing great!
It's interesting that you eat a good amount of calories because I need a good 1500kcal or more which is why I like to exercise so I can eat more and still lose weight. I will get there sometime
I have lost 1.7kg/3.7 pounds after week 2. I am ready to see 11 stones something next Monday. Bring it on!
All of you are doing great. Sometimes we retain water and that's why the numbers on the scale increase a bit. It only takes a few salty dinners to see a higher number, but the good thing is that water comes and goes. As long as we keep eating healthy and moving more, we'll feel better! Don't give up!
Congratulations to you on losing 3.7 pounds after week 2. That's really great! A warm welcome to you in this weigh-in as well - really glad you've joined us.
Thanks for your encouraging words - yes, those salty foods are the worst for water retention, and it's great that the water comes and goes again! I was so relieved when my weight went back down again. It had been quite disheartening to see that 3 pound gain last week.
Glad to see a lot of losses this week! it is a shame to report I cannot say the same! Although I haven't put on either so all is not lost! At this rate I can't see me losing that stone before July! But I will not give up yet!
So, I'm still weighing in at 12st 10lbs!
I know where I went wrong at least. I only do well if I exercise, but only managed to fit in one half hour session last week! I will do better this week. Plus, my partner has also agreed to join in with me on healthy eating and exercise so it should make things a little easier for me at meal times! And we will be able to motivate each other!
Feeling more positive this week and hopefully going to try and get back into swimming sessions too!
Well done for maintaining your weight this week. I know you were hoping for a loss, but at least you've not gained! It's great to hear that your partner is going to support you by joining you with healthy eating and exercise - that is great as it should definitely be easier, and like you say, you can help to motivate each other.
Also you are hoping to get back into your swimming sessions this week, so that should definitely help.
You are sounding motivated for the week ahead, and I wish you a great week.
I would choose to see that as 3lbs lost rather than a 0.4 gain, especially after a Chinese. I try to have have my treat meal on a Monday or Tuesday so it's gone by weigh day
Last week I weighed 14st, today I weigh 13st 11lbs, I'm really happy to have lost 3lbs and finally be in the 13s. I have been walking home from work which is about 4 miles but that's the only exercise i've been doing. After last week's miserable run on ice I waited all week for the ice to go, finally thought I'd go out yesterday when it was just wet rather than slippy, it started snowing after about 5 minutes, another 5 minutes and I lost feeling in my face so turned around and came home.
Hope you get to keep up your walking and strength training. I'm going to have a hunt for this diet programme and have a watch of that.
Thanks so much for that positive re-framing - I'll try to see it as a 3 pound loss, and not a 0.4 gain - I wish I'd had the Chinese a couple of days earlier, then like you say, the evidence would have been 'gone' by today!
Many Congratulations to you on losing 3 pounds this week and being in the 13s. That's really great! Well done! You must be so pleased! Walking home from work each day (4 miles) is incredible.
Sorry to hear about your experience in the sleety weather yesterday - that sounds very unkind of the weather to do that to you!
The Horizon programme was on over 3 nights I think - so there are 3 sessions to watch. At least I think that was the one over three nights - there have been quite a few weight loss programmes on lately, and I might be getting confused!
Morning all hope we're all enjoying the lovely winter weather lol - sadly doesn't seem to be burning any more calories plodding along on ice or into 50mph wind but still sticking to my daily walk, did 10,000 steps on Saturday on the one trip for the first time so pleased with that. Last week was 17st 4.5lbs, this week 17st. 3lbs so lost 1.5lbs - pleased enough with that as not the best time of the month for some of my activities!! Going strong now into week 3, hoping to see the 16st marker pop up very soon. Have a good week everyone xx
Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds this week, that's really great! Sounds like you're doing lots of great exercise, and still walking despite the inclement weather. You're getting closer to the 16 stone marker - hopefully not long now.
Hello Lowcal just joined the forum. At my heaviest I was 19st 10lbs now 18st 5lbs but it has taken ages a couple of years! One good thing that my weight has stayed off and not gone back on even when I have gone through my "why bother" Times. So joining your Monday weigh in is just what I need to keep me on track. See you next week hopefully a little less of me!
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us today for this Monday weigh-in. Really glad you joined us. Well done so far on your weight loss journey - you've already lost 1 stone 5 pounds, that's incredible. Losing weight gradually is fine, and like you say you've not re-gained weight despite some 'why bother' times (and we all get those!).
Have you seen the NHS 12 week structured plan? There is some good advice there.
Great that you'll be joining us next week, and wishing you a great week ahead. Like you say, hopefully there'll be a 'bit less' of us (weight-wise) by next week.
just realised Lowcal I said 18 : 5 but it should have been 17:5 but it has taken nearly 3 years to loose the 2st 5lbs but it is going down if only very slowly. See what it is next week
Little dissapointed this morning as I have stayed the same, and have stuck with it and carried on with excercise. Still it's not a gain and I did loose 3lbs last week so here's to a better result next week.
I have to say I do feel fitter for eating healthier so that's a big plus. Good Luck for next week.
Well done for maintaining your weight this week - you did lose quite a bit last week, so it's probably due to that that you've not lost again this week. Averaging over the 2 weeks it would be 1.5 pounds per week, so that would be a good amount to lose in any case! Try not to be disappointed, you're sticking with it and you've carried on with your exercise, so you should soon lose some more - hopefully next week!
Really great that you've noticed that you 'feel fitter for eating healthier' - that is a really big plus. I suspect that means you 'are' fitter for eating healthier and exercising.
Can I just say how encourageing you are , you must spend so much time answering everyone. I have been to lot's of slimming classes in the past but your motivation is better than any of them.
Look forward to speeking to you next week, have a good one.
The total amount of weight you have lost - over 5 St - is amazing and huge inspiration for everyone on here. I love your calm and logical approach to it all - was it always like that for you - even when you had just started? You must have seen such a transformation in yourself. I think this is a lifelong lifestyle for all of us to first lose he weight and then keep it off - but losing just a few pounds makes it feel worthwhile. I have lost 1.5lbs this week and am 12st 3.5lbs - I am so looking forward to the 11s - and that is my next target - but at my steady 1lb per week. Have a good week everybody!
Firstly, Congratulations to you for losing 1.5 pounds this week - really great. You're getting low down in the 12's now. The 11's are not far away! Great that you've set the target of losing 1 pound per week.
Thanks for your encouraging words. I do think that I've developed a calmer and more logical approach over time, but certainly when I first started losing weight, I was grappling with some old habits that meant it was really hard to stay disciplined to a plan. For example, I would often binge eat, and feel as if I didn't have any discipline to stop. Even a couple of Christmases ago I was still eating lots of the Christmas chocolate decorations in one go - the solution to that for me now is not to have them on the tree, i.e. not to buy them anymore!
I'd eat most of a Birthday cake within a day or two previously, but now I tend to literally go out for a piece of cake in a coffee shop instead, or if I have a cake at home I'll freeze the remaining pieces so that I eat them 'now and then' rather than in one go.
I try to cook things from scratch rather than buy convenience meals. That doesn't involve too much more time, as a staple meal of mine is to put a salmon steak in the oven, and put fresh vegetables in the oven (baked with olive oil). Or have chicken instead of salmon. That's a really quick meal to do - I just need to turn the veggies half way through cooking, and that's it! I'll usually have that with a jacket potato (and I buy those frozen jacket potatoes that you can microwave in 5 minutes).
I think I've developed some healthier habits over time, and stuck to those wherever possible. That makes me feel 'calmer' and 'more logical' in myself, and more in control of my life generally. I feel so much fitter thanks to the exercise and being lighter, which improves my mood generally.
Not sure if I've answered your question, but I think what I'm saying is that this weight loss journey has been a positive one so far.
Hi low cal I also joined last week so I weigh in every Monday ... And I'm chuffed to say I lost 3 lb this week .... Look forward to hearing how u get on next week....keep us Informed hun x x. All the best x
Knowing where you have gone awry and putting steps in place to counteract it is probably the key to any successful weight loss/healthy eating plan and you seem to have this down to pat - I bet if weigh-in day was tomorrow you would be at a 'stayed the same' rather than a small gain! Great that you've kept up the exercise especially at this time of year when it's so dreary - so much easier to stay in and have a cup of tea and slice of cake.
I find myself this week quite unreasonably grumpy - I have lost 1lb and yes I am now in the 11's albeit 11 stone 13.5 pounds and know that I should be happy but it feels like such a hard slog. I am doing the 5:2 diet so on 2 days a week I practically starve, I am also doing dry-January so no wine calories going in, I run between 3-5 miles twice a week, do two circuit training classes and one other gym workout - all for a loss of just one pound!! So frustrating!!! All I can think of is that I must be eating too much on my other days so maybe I need to calorie count on those days too??? (Lowcal - please do not for a second think my rant is directed at you and that I expect you to be the font of all knowledge and answer all my questions - I am just sounding out what is in my head.)
Having watched the Horizon program like so many others (yes - it is the 3 part one!) and having done the on-line test I am apparently a 'constant craver' and therefore hungry all the time - sounds about right!
I think I might do a food diary this week on the days when I'm not fasting to see if I am over-indulging without realising. Last week you mentioned the calorie difference between the standard and luxury mince pies which I was finishing off from Christmas and when I looked I was stunned at how many calories they were!
So - my goal this week is to lose weight and ideally more than one pound.
I hope you have a good week and achieve your goals.
I know you are feeling some frustrations at having done all that exercise and good healthy eating, and feel you'd have liked to lose more than 1 pound, but I still congratulate you on losing that pound. It is really good and in the right direction. Like you said to me, it's really hard to exercise at this dreary weather time of year, and I heard mention today that it is characteristically called 'Blue Monday' today because many people are feeling a bit down about stuff.
Many Congratulations on making the transition from the 12's and into the 11's. That is also great!
I think I saw a link on one of the posts that Gingernut put up - she advocates the 5:2 diet and I think the link suggested how many calories to eat up to on the 5 days of non-fasting. I think the general suggestion was not to eat more than 2,000 calories on those days, but there was a more precise calculation that could be done to take into account your levels of activity. I did the calculation myself, and it told me that if I was doing 5:2, then I could have up to 2,482 calories on non-fasting days. That was interesting - but I don't actually do the 5:2 diet as I have tried it in the past and found that I just didn't feel great on the fasting days. I admit I didn't try it very long, maybe for a couple of weeks and no more than that, so I didn't really give it much of a try. I do know that Gingernut has been really successful, and I saw her story highlighted in the Daily Mail newspaper. She's done really well at keeping her weight off too.
Anyway, I hope that you have a better week this week in terms of becoming less 'unreasonably grumpy' and feeling happier with being in the 11's. You are truely doing really well.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. Have you seen the NHS 12 week plan? It is a helpful structured plan for losing weight, and has some great advice.
Wishing you a really good week. Hope to catch up with you next week.
Hi Lowcal and all Lowcal, I'm sure that 0.4lb will come off easily as you're doing a lot of exercise and know where you went wrong last week. I wasn't happy last week as I'd gone up since the hols but I've dropped 3lbs since then so hopefully I can keep the downward trend going!
Just checking in- head hung in shame have failed in my target- (Again)To much of a good thing I am afraid.
I 'm not sure what to do at the moment - I swinging from ,masterly good intentions to 'whatever'.
Not much more to say really- fed up - but I am completely clear it is my own lack of will power-- but like the spider - I will try again......
So Sorry - nearly signed off in self pity. Where are my manners without saying well done to all the losers- well played. LC - 0.4 is a snip to lose - I am sure it will be off this time next week.
Glad you are 'like the spider' and trying again - you will succeed if you keep going. You mentioned swinging from 'masterly good intentions to whatever' - so maybe aim for something inbetween. Maybe you're setting yourself too large a goal, or maybe you're having too many temptations in your path - is there a way to avoid some of those?
Lack of will power is really challenging, and they don't call today 'Blue Monday' for no reason - January is challenging after all the excitement of Christmas and New Year - getting back to normal routines again but faced with extremes of weather and cold (at least in the Northern hemisphere as someone pointed out recently). But that same person also said that Spring is approaching, and therefore it should get easier when the nicer weather is here - you'll be running in better conditions, and you'll be hopefully feeling lighter (literally) and brighter.
So, like the spider, keep going. You can do it.
Thanks for your encouraging words to me - I will regard that 0.4 pound as something to be snipped off without delay. Actually, I feel as if I've shivered it off today as it's been sooooo cold!
Hope you have a better week this week. Hopefully you'll be feeling less fed-up (in all senses of the meaning) really soon.
Having eaten well the last week, am with 86kg this morning again, but when I have reached properly 84kg on well eaten days, then we are having salmon again. And I am longing for that real fish, not in batter, flour, or any other cover up story, real fish again...
Great to hear you've eaten well the last week, and sounds like you're making good progress. Hope you get to eat that salmon soon, sounds like you're looking forward to it. I usually sprinkle some spicy cajun on my salmon steak.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us today for this Monday weigh-in. Have you seen the NHS website 12 week structured plan? It's very helpful with lots of good advice.
Wishing you a great first week, and hope you enjoy your week.
..jumped on scales this morning I've lost 2lbs again this week so really pleased. I aim to lose another 2lbs by next Monday -Hope you keep on track too .I know it is difficult I am so tempted to eat extra treats.. ?. good luck
..jumped on scales this morning I've lost 2lbs again this week so really pleased. I aim to lose another 2lbs by next Monday -Hope you keep on track too .I know it is difficult I am so tempted to eat extra treats.. . good luck
Great to see you, and Congratulations on losing 2 pounds again this week - you're doing so well. Really good! Well done for keeping on track and avoiding those extra treats.
Good luck with your goal to lose another 2 pounds this week, and wishing you a great week!
Despite your gain, it's a tiny gain, and as others have said - you can take that off within a week. Go for it!
No change for me, weighing in at 12st 6.5lb again. Just like last week a little shocked that the scales are being so kind to me, it doesn't seem to add up with what I have been eating (lots more than I should).
Tried to be more strict with myself this week but just wasn't feeling it. Midway through the week I felt completely shattered so just to rule it out I thought I would do a pregnancy test. Then I could tell myself to stop feeling lazy, sorry for myself and to get back on track to getting to 12st...Well I got a bit of a shock.... it appears I'm pregnant! Only VERY early days so not getting too excited but I wondered would I still be able to post my weigh in? The reason being I don't want to put as much weight on as I did with child no.1 so need this thread to try and keep me on track. (Nor am I a fan of baby talk websites - DULL). Not going to be dieting but want to try and maintain my weight for as long as I can. What do you think? Will you still have me? Totally understand if you would rather not as I am not going to be that inspiring for others... getting fatter and fatter!
I am so excited for you - Congratulations on your pregnancy - that's so great! Of course you are very very welcome to continue to post your weight in this weigh-in thread. It would be great if you would, as it would be good to hear how you're getting on.
Really happy for you. Your goals will be different now, as you've mentioned - you want to not put on as much weight as with your first child. Hopefully we can help you keep on track with those goals in this thread.
Have a great week, and look forward to catching up with you next week!
Morning Lowcal and all - still off the wagon and have eaten and drunk my body weight in cake and cocktails! Still more meals out to come and I have dared not step on the scales here - anyway they are not digital. Anyway the plus side is my sister is A fitness freak have done a 9 mile and 10k run as well as some training this morning 16x 400m
Great to see you! Hope you're having a great holiday. Good to hear your sister is keeping you active with all those runs. Should help counterbalance the 'cake and cocktail' diet.
Hope you have a great time, and have another good week ahead.
A very warm welcome to you, and great that you've joined us. Have you seen the NHS 12 week structured plan for weight loss? It has some helpful advice that might be helpful.
Hope you have a great week ahead, and will look forward to hearing how you got on next week. Good luck!
Good morning Lowcal and thank you for your warm welcome. I am 66 and been dieting on and off since my teens. I have booked to go on holiday for next New Year and I am determined to be my lowest ever. My highest weight over the years has been 18 stone (a long time ago). I am sure the support on here will help me. Thank you.
Hi again. It's great that you've got a holiday booked for next New Year, as that will be a great motivator, and you've got plenty of time to achieve your goals.
Hope you're having a good week so far, and look forward to catching up with you on Monday for the next weigh-in.
At bit late to weigh in I'm afraid. I weighed myself on Sunday evening and I'm about the same this week as I was last week (9st 11), which I'm content with. Weight lifting has started again, and right now I'm off for a run in the rain.. My aim this week is to try a running club on Thursday night: the more I involve other people in my weight control/exercise regime, the more likely I am to succeed. That's the theory anyway!
Bit worried about next week's weigh in as I ate a whole pizza last night. But I suppose I have nearly a week to put right whatever went wrong last night.
Hope your run in the rain was ok! I think it's great that you're joining that Thursday night running club - involving other people with your weight control/exercise regime is a fantastic idea - more likely to succeed as you say. I think that theory is well backed up - heard it mentioned in a few places. Evidence based and all that.
Was your pizza a thin base? Also if it's got tomato and vegetables on it it would definitely be better than a very dense thick base with lots of cheese etc. I made that mistake last week!
Well done for maintaining your weight this week - great that you're in the 9's.
Have a great week ahead.

Thanks Lowcal - it was a very thin base. In fact it was so thin that it was pretty non-existent in parts. It a Tesco's Spinach and Ricotta pizza, which is 353cals for a half-pizza. So not too bad as pizzas go. But still not great to eat the whole bloody thing! I wasn't even hungry after the first half. I think I will take the advice of other people on this site and freeze any leftovers *before* I start eating my allotted portion. That removes temptation.
Oh well - last night's run went ok and I'm definitely going to meet the running club tomorrow. Hope your week is going ok so far and that you're still enjoying the weight training. I'm a bit bored of it currently, but will persevere, as it has definitely improved my glutes, which has got to be something!
Glad last night's run went ok and hope the running club is good tomorrow. I've just returned from a meal out - eaten lots of tempting things, so not sure how that will pan out for Monday's weigh-in, but I have been keeping up my exercise so hopefully that will compensate a bit.
I am enjoying the weight training - definitely noticed improvement in my muscles already!
Great that you're improving your glutes (had to laugh then, as my spell check changes that word to 'flutes'… )
Have a great week.

Hi - yep: we still have 4 days to make changes before our next weigh in, keep working on those flutes!
Hi, yes there are still 4 days left to the next weigh-in - I will definitely need them as I've got another meal out tonight! An Italian restaurant so will try to choose tomato based sauces etc wherever possible…
Hi Lowcal and everyone, I'm back! Knee deep in unpacking boxes but happy enough. Lowcal it was such a slight gain and easily remedied by next week so focus on what you could lose by next week and Suzy Benz and Prin, keep going my lovelies and everyone.
I lost 2.5lbs this week so almost back on track and heading towards that elusive 5 stone weight loss. I wonder if I could do it by next week???? My exercise bike is almost back together again so no excuses now, just need a kick up the backside!
Great to see you, and welcome back!!! I thought about you doing your unpacking etc, and hoped it was all going ok. Glad to hear you're feeling happy enough, that's great to hear!
Thanks for your encouraging words, and Congratulations to you for losing 2.5 pounds this week - that's really great! I think there's every chance you could make your 5 stone weight loss goal by next week - and your exercise bike should soon be complete so that will be just what you need!
Have a great week, and hope you enjoy settling into your new home.
I can't believe we're on Wednesday night already! Hope you are having a good week.
I weighed in on Monday and had lost 1lb. It met the goal I set last week but as I had had a good week, I hoped for more. This week is not good so far!
I also watched and really enjoyed the Horizon programme. I'm a feaster so need to learn about low GI foods. I have porridge oats for breakfast but am hungry a few hours later. I bought some nuts to have a small snack on and the whole packet has nearly gone!
Any help with low GI food /menus/websites would be appreciated from fellow healthy eaters please.
Aim this week is to stay the same! It will be amazing if I do.
Great to see you! Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week. That is really great. I know you hoped for more, but you achieved your goal, and 1 pound is a good loss.
You mentioned having porridge for breakfast - I have porridge too, but I add in some 'breakfast topper' which consists of various nuts and seeds, and I also add a few nuts to bulk it out and add some protein. I think that combination makes it more satisfying.
I realise you've eaten almost a whole pack of nuts - that is a problem in having nuts in the house. Patrick Holford talks a lot about low GI foods in his writings - maybe there are some websites under his name?
Thanks for the replies. I've been been reading Patrick Holford website, very interesting. Will have a look at BBC link now.
I've eaten all the nuts (mmm, around 1600 cals) between Tuesday and Friday morning. No self control. Have bought some seeds which I am not tempted to eat on their own and have added some fruit to my porridge. Thanks for that, it has helped to delay those hunger pangs.
Yes, the Monday weigh-in is coming too quickly for me too!!!
Glad you are enjoying the Patrick Holford website - he wrote some good books too - I think one is called 'Optimal Nutrition' or something similar.
At least nuts are nutritionally dense! Good fats in them too. Glad you're enjoying the extra seeds and fruit in your porridge - it definitely makes it taste good I think.
Today, I'm going to try baking the Banana Bran loaf that is in the NHS website - I've bought some ingredients for it and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I'll be cutting it into pieces and freezing it - like I do with all my home baked cakes.
Look forward to catching up with you on Monday at the weigh-in, and in the meantime have a great weekend.
