Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 8.4 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 6.8 pounds, so I've lost 1.6 pounds this week! I am very pleased with that. I made a big effort to increase my exercise this week, and I am feeling fitter and also think my clothes are feeling looser.
I am going to try hard to keep up my exercise and also choose healthy foods and I'm hoping to have another loss next week. I am not going to set myself a definite weight loss goal, because any loss would be a bonus for me!
Hope you have had a good week, and please do join me and share your experiences of how the week has gone.

Hi, I'm starting today on low carb and my current weight is 14st 2lb with a long way to go.
Welcome! I hope you have a great first week. Good luck with it all. Have you also seen the 12 week structured plan on the NHS website for weight-loss? It's got some good tips and advice.
Hi Lowcal, congrats on your loss. I need to stay focused as a great weight loss will help my poor joints. I've 4wks til my hols so I'm using that as my 1st target
Thank you. I stuck to LCHF for a wk and felt great but then the old gremlin crept in, I was 'rewarding' myself for doing well. You would think at 60 I would have got over that old chestnut but obviously it's deep in my psyche. I'm on hols in 4wks so must try
Maybe you could choose some non-food 'rewards' instead. It's good to have a goal to work towards, and being on holiday in 4 weeks means you have a whole month beforehand to make some positive changes. Good luck!
I did exercise this week and have been feeling slimmer so was excited about this week's weigh in. To my horror i've gained 3lbs and haven't lost any inches. Frustrated to say the least!
Please don't lose heart that you've gained this week. I know how frustrating that can feel, but the positives are that you have been exercising this week and you've been 'feeling' slimmer too, so it suggests you've perhaps toned up and got fitter, which is great. Weight gain can sometimes be simply down to fluid or hormones, or just having eaten a heavier meal the night before. Just keep going, and see what next week's weigh-in brings.
Well done LowCal I am confused. I fell off the wagon and weighed in mid-week at 11st 2lbs, which meant that I had gained the 4lbs I had lost. Gutted.
Then I weighed myself this morning, ready to get back on the wagon, and the scales say 10st 12lbs again, which is what I was before I fell off the wagon! I have been back on the wagon for a few days now, but not sure what to think of the scales numbers.
Anyhow, I have my gym induction today after work, and my 1st spin class at 7.30pm today, wish me luck!!
It just shows how the weight can fluctuate - glad you are back below 11 stone again, that must feel good!!! Plus another positive is you're back on the wagon again! Well done.
I hope your gym induction goes well later today, and that you enjoy your first spin class. I am hoping to get to the gym as well later today - always feel better after a session there, although don't always feel like actually going!
Awesome news, knew this week would be a good week for you I stayed the same, which I'm actually quite happy about as it's that TOM and my will power goes out the window when I start craving the 3C's (chinese, chocolate and coke), having successfully swapped the coke for pepsi max I was back on the coke, had a 400g bar of dairy milk and 3 takeaways last week, so staying the same has actually been a major achievement, I'm also hoping some of it is just water retention and next Monday will see a loss as the cravings are gone
Thanks for the encouragement - must appreciated as always. Well done to you for coping with your 'TOM' and for staying the same despite all the cravings you had and the occasional succumbing to temptation. It's a challenging time isn't it.
Here's looking forward to next week's weigh-in and hopefully a loss for us all.
Well done Lowcal - looks like the increased exercise paid off.
I'm pleased to report that despite a big meal out on Friday and far too many gin and tonics, I'm finally down to a healthy BMI. I've lost 15lbs over the last 12 weeks and today I weigh 10stone 1lb. I'm really happy and feel my hard work (especially the exercising) has paid off. Having said that, I'd like to lose another 6lbs, so that I'm well within the healthy range, and because I'm not quite happy with the way my legs look yet. I'm short and stocky, so really what I need is for someone to streeeetch me..
Thanks for the Bob Harper DVD recommendation by the way. I will take a look at it at some point. I finished the 30 day shred on Thursday, and have decided to do it again starting today, but with slightly heavier weights.
That's really great news that you're within your healthy BMI - very well done! All your hard work and exercise has paid off. Losing 15 pounds over 12 weeks is amazing, and a healthy rate of weight loss. Good luck with the second 30 day shred that you're planning to do. The Bob Harper session was actually from Sky channels - it is just a 25 minute session called 'Cardio Core Conditioning' or something like that... It involves a lot of standing on one leg and using weights at the same time, and it's challenging (at least to me!). I really like it though and I feel my balance is improving as well as my core strength.
Just think, you'll soon be below 10 stone - another milestone.
A fitbit is a pedometer, a really good one. You wear it all day and it tells you how many calories you've burnt. It measures steps and also incline so it's super accurate.
Morning lowcal, well done, ever nearer 13 , weighing in at 10st 11lb this week so 2lb off, as ever Lowcal thanks for your time and energy in arranging the weigh in have a good week everyone
Welcome! Glad you joined us today for your starting weigh-in, and it's great that you have such a lovely event to look forward to in November. Congratulations on your forthcoming Wedding.
Hi starting weight loss programme today so first weigh in today (shocking). I always thought that getting 'weighed in' helps so hopefully I'll be able to stay motivated and report a weight loss next week.
Welcome to you! I think it definitely helps to weigh-in, even if the starting weight can be a bit of a shock. Wishing you lots of motivation for this first week. Have you seen the NHS website with the 12 week structured approach for weight loss - it has some useful tips etc.
Hi Lowcal, glad to hear you've had a successful week, keep up the exercise, it can only help.
I've lost 2lbs this week, so 9 lbs in total since I've started. This week I'm going to concentrate on drinking a little more water (haven't managed 8 glasses a day yet) swimming 3 times, walking more! I'll report back next week if I've kept my resolutions!
Thanks, I hope to keep up the exercise. I did enjoy it last week.
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, and a total of 9 pounds since you've started. That's brilliant.
I'm like you with regard to the drinking of water - I usually only manage to drink about 2 to 3 glasses, even though I try to remember to drink more. I have lots of other drinks like tea and coffee, so think I get sufficient fluid. But I will also try to drink more water.
Well done Hopegirl, I had a 3lb gain as away for week drinking lots of wine etc. so I'm straight back on it and not seeing it as a major set back as these things happen. Here's to a great week for everyone
Well done Lowcal, I'm pleased to say that I had a better week and have lost roughly 2lbs so I'm getting back on track. Which scales do you use that are so accurate?
I'm really pleased to hear you've had a better week and lost roughly 2 pounds. Really great.
You asked me about my scales - they are only accurate because they are 'digital' scales. The make is 'Salter' but I don't know how they compare with other scales.
Well done lowcal I have not lost anything yet ooppss doing a lot of walking to start with my hips are not to good so its hard going but will be happy to post on Mondays it will encourage me to try harder so if its okay I will join you at the moment sad to say I am 12st 9 .... so hopefully I can lose some next week so I can show off
Really glad you've joined us for this weigh-in. Great that you are doing lots of walking, even though you have some trouble with your hips - well done for sticking at it, as walking is really great exercise. Let's hope you can show off next week (as you say!), and let's hope we all have a great week.
Hi LowCal,Well done on your weight loss this week. You must be feeling better!!!!!! I can't access any scales until tomorrow am but I'm feeling much better about it all now. Found the mojo again and actually managed to complete the first week of Couch to 5k. It's been the time of the month so not managed to be very good on the diet front but feeling better due to the exercise. I'll let you know my weight once weighed in. I have been eating more seeds and nuts last week and feel they carried me over the 3pm energy slump. I do struggle with that time of day. Good luck everyone for this week.
Thanks - I am feeling better! Glad you are too - great that you've found the mojo again and well done for completing the first week of Couch to 5k - that's a good achievement. Seeds and nuts are a delicious and nutritional snack - I sometimes have them in the mid afternoon with half an apple and some yoghurt.
Will look forward to hearing how you get on with the scales today - best of luck!
Hi Lowcal, weigh in this morning and I am 10.11 so 1lb loss which actually I'm happy about. Also completed W2R1 tonight so I'm keeping it up. I've developed an unhealthy liking to peanut butter on my toast in morning so I'm trying to alternate with porridge. Hopefully I'll try my best and look forward to some loss next Monday. Good Luck.
That's great news - really good that you've lost a pound this week. Well done also on keeping up with the W2R1. Are you enjoying the porridge? I often have that, as it really fills me up and feels quite satisfying. I do add some honey and a few sprinkles of nuts and raisins on the top though to make it taste nicer. I had 2 boiled eggs and 2 pieces of wholemeal toast with butter for breakfast this morning. I'm planning to do a longish walk at lunchtime, so wanted some energy from the carbs to help me out!
Wishing you a great week and let's hope there's another loss for all of us next Monday.
Thanks Lowcal. I love porridge, Depending on how hungry I am sometimes I have stewed apple and a spoon of yoghurt with it too. I love that combo!!! Give it a try, see you next week.
Sorry to be late. After the weight bounced up again into the 73 kg range, it's now back down again into the 72s. 72.6 kg. That converts to 11st 6 lbs. I did get there a couple of weeks ago but then it bounced back up, now on the way back down again.
Overall there has been very little change in what I eat. I haven't snacked, haven't binged, haven't gone mad with anything. One celebration meal out the weekend before last, and really, it was nothing much compared to what some people describe.
We're going on holiday from Sunday 8th. No croissants in France, and when we get to Switzerland, no Swiss chocolate! Swiss cheese is another matter. Cheese is OK. I don't know what else they eat in Switzerland - will have to find out. Maybe similar to Germany. I liked their food when we were there, although obviously, I had to go easy on the 'kaffe mit kuchen'!
Well done on getting your weight back down to the 72s. Sounds like you are doing well with your food intake - hope you enjoyed the celebration meal. Great to hear you're looking forward to your holiday - not long till 8th June. Is 'kaffe mit kuchen' coffee with cream?
Oh yes, but I'll have the coffee without the cake. I discovered a few years ago that the only place to eat Black Forest gateau is....in the Black Forest, in Germany!
Weighed myself on Sunday and lost another pound but more importantly am losing inches and wearing all my clothes I could not get into , so am happy about that . I am under the 10 stones and still aiming to lose another half or so before my sons wedding in August .
Congratulations on losing another pound -that's really great. Also losing inches and wearing clothes you couldn't get into previously is really rewarding. Saying goodbye to the 10 stone marker is great too! You've got plenty of time till your son's Wedding in August to lose that half stone you're aiming to lose.
