Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 11.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 11.2 pounds, so I've gained 0.2 pounds this week. A bit disappointed by a slight gain, but thankfully it's not too much! I had a meal out last night which was quite heavy, and I"m also on my period this week - and usually gain something as a result of that.
I am hoping to lose weight this week, and ideally would like to get below 13 stone 10.0 pounds if possible, hence I'd like to lose at least 1.2 pounds. My exercise goals for this week are to continue walking most days, and also do an exercise class before next Monday, and my eating goals are to eat healthy foods and also cut back a bit on my consumption of bread (I overate bread this weekend too, and indulged with a couple of hot cross buns as well...).
If you are reading this post, then I hope you have had a good week, and I hope you'll join me and share your experiences Best of luck for a positive week.

Morning you have helped me to feel even more positive. I weigh 219 pounds which is far to much. I have pain and can't exer use much but if I lost weight even if it can't cure I decided it may help me getting other problems so today is the start. Hope you have a good week and I will let you know of my hopefully progress next week. Look forward to your loss to!
I am so happy that you are feeling more positive and that you're starting your weight loss journey today. A very warm welcome, and I hope you have a really good first week. Let's hope we can report some losses next week.
It's only 0.2 pounds and that meal out last night will have made a difference, so I reckon with your normal healthy eating by tomorrow morning that will have gone. Well done - you are doing so well.
I am still not in a good place - possibly put on a 1lb, but more importantly, 14 lbs heavier than December (now at 15 st 3 lbs). That goal of 12 st 7 lbs seems so far off.
Struggling to get my head around the healthy eating at the mo - not only problems with my feet but my back went into a spasm last weekend, so still no walking around outside, mixture of lying down and standing allowed - trying to keep on with work though as just started a new job, so now working 5 days a week. Also, moving house, hopefully in April if it goes through!
Yep, feeling sorry for myself - Docs appt on Wednesday so that will be good to talk over the various medical/mental issues I am experiencing, and then physio in the evening.
Today though is another day and the sun is shining. Enough of my woe - it has to be a good week and things have to change .......
Good luck to everyone, hope you are having a successful, healthy time.
Really sorry to hear that your back went into a spasm last weekend, that must be really tough to cope with, and you have a lot on your plate at the moment in terms of your new job and your imminent house move. I hope your Wednesday appointment is helpful and that the physio can also help you out with a good treatment/advice.
You do sound positive about the week ahead - mentioning the sun shining and the fact that things have to change, and hopefully things will improve as the week goes on.
Thanks for your positive comments about my 0.2 gain - I am very much hoping that it will be gone by tomorrow! I am hoping to eat healthily today and also go for a walk at some point.
Thanks Lowcal - had a relatively good day today, so will start building on that - and thank you for encouraging us to keep weighing in every Monday, I really appreciate it.
Glad to hear you had a better day yesterday, and hope today has some positive things in store. I appreciate your support as well - so thanks so much for that!
Do hope your day got better, when in pain it is so hard to keep cheerful. Then putting on weight is a real downer, lets hope spring and summer will help us all feel like trying to manage are illnesses.
Thank you Peacerose - did go over my 1400 cals today but not disastrously which is an improvement. Hope you've had a good day - whatever pain we may suffer it is horrible, so good luck this coming week.
Congratulations on your 3lb weight loss this week. That's fantastic news, especially as it's your lowest weigh in since you started your journey. Really great.
Hi everyone! Sounds like people are doing amazingly well!! Well done :o)
I WAS doing really well until the weekend. By Friday last week I had hit 11st13lbs on the scales and was so incredibly happy to finally get past the 12st mark....HOWEVER....I then went mad at the weekend having a catch up weekend with my bestest friends who I haven't seen since October. I am now 12st 4lbs!! (again). I don't mind too much as I know I have the ability to lose it (hopefully quite quickly) and I had an amazing weekend which in my world is very important. I have just completed MyFitnessPal for today and I appear to have overeaten whilst stressing at work so I better get myself out for a run now and hopefully find that much needed motivation to repeat all the good things I did last week. I really don't want to go out in the cold but I'm hoping I enjoy it once I'm out there. Wish me luck!! :o)
That weight gain will soon be gone - it was only one weekend and I completely agree, life has to carry on and it is very important to enjoy it and meeting up with friends. Hope you enjoyed your run - you will definitely feel so much better for having done it.
Hi bispers, thanks for your reply. I hope the weight goes again soon, I felt so proud to finally get back into the 11st something weight. I didn't run as long as I'd planned but it was definately better than not going. I'm planning for tomorrow to be much more mindful of what I'm eating! :o)
Really glad you had such an enjoyable weekend with your friends, and also congratulations for having got below 12 stone prior to that. I am sure you will get back to that again very soon - it should come off relatively quickly - just keep focused this week and try to get back on track. You can do it!!!
Thanks Lowcal, hoping to have a good day today so I feel like I'm back on it. Hopefully I'll be reporting good things next Monday! :o) Hope you have a great week too.
Hi, I have just started nhs losing weight 12 week plan. I am 15 stone 6 pounds, hoping to lose 2pounds for next week. I will post next Monday to see how things are going. My problem is bad habits falling back in to my life, being lazy and greedy by ordering takeaways. I am good during the week but then I am not so good at the weekends. I need to focus and have Will power. Dont be too disappointed by your weight gain, you may have lost inches! Keep trying x
Welcome to the forum gemrich! I think we're all adapting to better habits so well done for knowing what your bad habits are - that's the first step. Most importantly I find you need to plan, plan, plan. When you are organised you're much less likely to reach for a takeaway menu! Good luck for this week, hope to be reporting losses with you next week! :o)
Welcome to the forum, and hope you enjoy using the NHS 12 week plan. You've set yourself a great first goal - losing 1 to 2 pounds a week is a very sensible and healthy amount to lose. I think that weekends are a challenging time - I used to get regular takeaways on weekends in the past, but nowadays I rarely have them - just occasionally, and sometimes I find they make me feel sluggish - so I suspect they are full of salt and sugars and suchlike. But they are delicious, and can be very tempting when you're not feeling like cooking. Maybe freeze some food you've cooked in the week, and then have it on the weekend - so you can enjoy some pre-planned healthy food? I often have a stir-fry on the weekend as the noodles make me imagine I'm eating some kind of takeaway. It works for me!
Good Morning All. I was feeling really low this morning wondering how on earth I can get some weight off and keep it off. I started 3 weeks ago and after two weeks I managed to lose 6lbs then life happened, I had a holiday last week and have gained 8lbs, I walked lots but I also had too much to eat and drink. I currently weigh 15st 8lbs and at 5ft 6 that is really unhealthy. My big problem is getting back on track once I have had a bad week, I seem to lose all motivation. I know I need to sort myself out and I am hoping that by joining this forum I can get some support and hopefully motivate others once I get back on track. I will weigh in next Monday and let you know how I get on. Good Luck everyone. x
A warm welcome to you. It's great that you lost 6 pounds over your first 3 weeks - that's great. Please try not to be too disheartened by the fact you put on 8 pounds during your holiday. I think when I've been on holiday I've put on very similar amounts, but it usually comes off quite quickly providing you get back on track - but of course, it can be difficult to get back on track when you're feeling disheartened.
But the positive for you is that you are joining a forum and looking to gain some support and also motivate others as well - that suggests a large amount of enthusiasm in my opinion! I hope you are having a good week so far, and feeling a bit more positive - the best of luck with it and let's hope we have a good weigh-in next Monday!
Evening all a mixed week for us all, I weighed in at 10 10 yesterday so would be happy to keep with that, it was my birthday yesterday and so am having a full week of indulgence ending Mother's Day evening next Sunday
A very Happy Birthday to you for yesterday. I hope you had a lovely time, and that you enjoy all your indulgences this week, including Mother's Day on Sunday. I'm sure you're keeping up your exercise, and I am planning my exercise class to enable me to fulfill the 'challenge' to complete one by next Monday - you have definitely spurred me into action with your encouragement, so thank you again! I will report back on Monday, and let you know how it goes.
Sorry not to have posted recently, I have been away, spent about 10 days in Edinburgh and just came back on Monday, weighed in at 79kg so down about 1lb since I weighed in on 10th March, this is amazing for me given what I ate although I did try to make healthier choices,
I also love bread, next to Macaroni cheese it is my favourite thing to eat. I know if I cut back on the bread and butter then I can do better. I too am continuing to exercise trying to keep up 10,000 steps 6 days per week at least, but it is hard. I picked up a new bike this week , a present from my husband as I would like to cycle along the canal path with him at weekends, hoping this may improve my fitness. I still have not smoked either, that is nearly 3 months, and that is my main goal as well as losing some weight.
Good luck to you this week , you will definitely achieve your goal, especially if you have had your period. . Good luck to everyone else. xx
Great to see you! Congratulations on losing 1 lb - that's really great. Especially as you've been away - hope you had a great time. Have you been out on your new bike yet, or are you waiting till the weekend? I hope you have a great ride on it - cycling along the canal path sounds idyllic.
Big congratuations also on having not smoked for nearly 3 months, that's a really great achievement.
Thanks for your encouragement - I am trying to keep my exercise up this week, and I have succeeded so far, so I'm hoping to report some lost weight on Monday - but of course there are still a few days to go before then, including the weekend which is usually a challenging time in terms of trying to avoid over-eating!
Yes hoping to get on the bike this weekend. Think I may have put on theta alb again though s out for dinner last night. Did not make healthy choices, munched my way through the bread basket and had chips and pudding!!!. Still off for a walk again today as it is a lovely morning here. Have a great weekend, I agree they are the most challenging, especially as my husband likes to cook at least once over the weekend and his portions are enormous. Willpower is required and I often am lacking in that. xx
I hope you enjoy your morning walk today. I know how tempting a bread basket can be, and like you - I prefer to have butter with my bread. Let's hope that 'willpower' is with us on the weekend, so we don't succumb to too many temptations! Hope the weather stays good so you can enjoy your new bike, and have some great rides along the canal.
