Good morning.

Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 12.2 pounds, and today I am 13 stone 11.8 pounds, so I've lost 0.4 pounds this week. I had a couple of meals out over the week, so I'm very happy to have had a loss - and I have a similar week this week (i.e. a couple more meals out) so I'm going to aim to have another loss, but not commit to any particular amount. Any loss would be good!

I only managed to get to the gym once this week - so I am going to try to go at least twice this week. I didn't manage to do any aerobics type class either - maybe I'll manage one this week. I hope to continue with the walking - I find it the most enjoyable form of exercise as it's so lovely to be out in the fresh air. But I do want to start doing some form of weight training and/or toning exercises, so I do hope to start something like that this week.

I hope everyone has had a good week, and I hope you'll join me for this Monday weigh-in to share your experiences.

Wishing you all a great week.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Lowcal, well done with your loss, "every little helps" to use the supermarket slogan!

Thanks for setting up the weekly weigh in post - I've been mindful of this all week!! This morning I weighed myself and have lost 4lbs. I'm quite surprised as I went out for the first night in AGES yesterday and had a few pints and some chips on the way home - oops. I'm now 12stone 4lbs. I hope to lose 2lbs next week.

This week I tried to do quite a lot of exercise (prompted by filling in MyFitnessPal logs!) but I have aggrivated the prolapsed disc in my back so I am having to take it a bit easy. Hopefully by watching my food intake I will be able to still lose a little and I can still go for some good walks.

Just want to say a big "thank you" to everyone for being supportive, reading your experiences and sharing our tough times makes this process a lot easier as I haven't felt like I want to give up yet and that's the key for me. I know I won't magically be thinner tomorrow but sticking with anything long enough to effect change is hard, so thanks for helping keep me on track and motivated!

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week and good luck this week!!

Hi Blanket,

Many congratulations on your 4 pound weight loss - that is such a great start! Sorry to hear that your exercise has aggravated your back, and hope that it will feel better really soon!

I find the weekly weigh-in very motivating, as it keeps me mindful of my goals to try to lose weight, and knowing that I will be reporting back to a forum like this each week really helps me to try to keep on track. I know that there will be some weeks when I won't manage a loss, and I find that there are such supportive people here who help to spur me on. That's really positive.

Hope you have another good week.

Hi Kath,

Congratulations on almost 2 pounds of weight loss - that's such a great start! Well done! Also, well done for not smoking - that must be really challenging, and you are doing really well.

Hope this week goes well for you.

Well done all us losers!! :o) Big or small weight loss, we're all going in the right direction!

I was 13 stone 12 pounds BMI 29.44 on Sunday, and was also 13 stone 12 pounds last Sunday. Not surprised as had some takeaways last week and didn't get much exercise done. However now feel I am back on track with healthy eating and am going to start doing a bit more walking this week again, or even get on the exercise bike.

Hi Anthony2014,

Really good that you didn't put any weight on this week, despite those takeaways. That's good going! Also very good to hear you're back on track with healthy eating and aiming to do a bit more walking this week. Or even the exercise bike - both sound like great exercise and I'm sure you'll see some losses next week.

Hope you have a good week.

hi all, I've had a good start and lost 1kg exactly in a week. Would love to keep that level up but will be glad to keep steadily losing. Kept pretty well to the 1400 cals - made me far more mindful of what I actually eat. Probably eat as a reaction to stress at work at times. Managed to get out walking for exercise every day - even in the dark a couple of nights and once in the rain (lunchtime at work) - taken tracksuit bottoms in and decent shoes which helps. Feel more supported and motivated in this forum than others I have tried in the past. So, thanks and good luck and positive thinking to everyone for the rest of the week.

Hi Dinbat,

Wow, that's a great weight loss - 1kg exactly in 1 week. Is that about 2.2 pounds? I am not very good at converting those... It's great that you managed to get out for exercise every day, even in the dark and rain.

Really glad you're finding this forum to be supportive. I have found it really helpful, and really appreciate the help of everyone - there are some lovely positive people out there.

Have a great week.

Yes, 2.2 lb! I know it will slow down but was even more pleased as I am menopausal and came on ( unexpectedly as happens these days) on Friday and that can play havoc with my weight. Cheers

Morning Lowcal well done on this weeks loss, and all you other losers ( and maintainers)! wasn't looking forward to the scales this morning as I have been just over 11st on a couple of occasions this week, however nice surprise today and was 10st 9.5 lb, if I could keep that off this week it would be good but hoping to be back at 10st 10lbs. Need to start planning some heavier carb meals as a build up to my 1/2 marathon on 16th I want enough energy to run the dam thing!

bispers profile image

Wow Prin, that's brilliant - well done. I'm sure the marathon will go well and the sense of achievement will make it worth all the hard work you will have put in. Soon be time to ease off before the big day (so I understand from my Husband ..... I'm not a runner in any shape or form!) .

Have a good week.

Hi Prin,

Wow, that's a good loss! Not long now till your half Marathon on 16th - that's exciting. Hope you have a really good week and enjoy some of those heavier carb meals in preparation for your run. I love a meal of penne pasta with tinned tuna flakes and onion and cheese sauce (don't have it very often, but I imagine that is a high carb type meal) and it is really delicious!

Hope you have a good week.

Hi BarryP,

That's the spirit! You sound motivated to start your weight loss journey. Like you say 'Bring it on!' - I hope you have a great first week and that your excess weight will soon be leaving you, but in a gradual and healthy way - 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per week is sensible and healthy.

Wishing you a successful and positive week.

Morning.

Well done Lowcal - you are consistent in the weight loss and that is what counts. Also, it sounds as though you have eating out under control - you are doing that AND still losing weight which is brilliant.

I had an 'eating' weekend as had family staying as well as attending a Great British Bake Off event for Cancer Research on Saturday - well, it would have been rude not to try the cakes!

So, I have just weighed today and have stayed the same as last week, so that is an achievement.

To all those who are starting out, I have lost a load of weight and then managed to put it back some of it back on because I didn't fully change my habits. That is the key - to change habits, not just think this is a short term thing.

Not eating healthily has made me feel tired and sluggish again - a good reminder of why I want to change. Moving house, hopefully in April, still no exercise (walking) by the Physio, about to increase work hours to full time from 2 or 3 days a week, so need to look after number 1!

One meal out this week, the goal of August (Son's wedding) is looming and I now need to be really focussed. A 1lb weight loss is the goal for this week.

Good luck all.

Morning Bispers,

You've done well not to gain weight after having those Great British Bake Off Cakes - so well done for that! I agree completely with what you said about changing habits - it is key to ensuring that weight loss is maintained. Making healthy eating and exercise part of the daily routine is the key to ensuring that a healthy weight is maintained. I feel much more positive when I'm eating healthier foods.

I'd forgotten one of my staple 'healthy lunches' that I used to have - which is sardines in tomato sauce on toast, and so I'm going to have that today. They are those tinned sardines and they are quite tasty. I can't remember if you eat fish or not - but if you do like fish, then they are quite a good easy meal to have.

I'm going for a meal out tonight, and I am keen to try to choose something that won't be too calorific. My aim is to have something like a fruit salad (melon) starter, or maybe a smoked salmon starter and then a fish main meal with some vegetables and new potatoes; and then a dessert - usually the desserts are relatively small so I am not too worried about which one I choose. I'm driving so I will restrict myself to a small glass of wine and have water for the remainder of the meal. That is my plan, so I hope I stick to it - I am keen to lose weight this week, so I am hoping that I can be 'sensible'.

Hope you have a really good week.

Lowcal :-)

We continue to live life well done on not gaining it's keeping your eye on the scales that counts :) how many lbs do you need to lose for the wedding? Have you a frock yet?

bispers profile image
bispers in reply toPrin

Hi Prin

I'd be happy if I can lose 28 lbs, anything up to 40 lbs though would be good, so I've made it harder for myself recently. No frock yet - end of June I reckon for that. 50th birthday also at the end of May. Plenty of incentives.

Hi Lowcal

Mmm, yes, I eat fish - am about to add sardines in tomato sauce on toast onto my shopping list - haven't had that for years and it's lovely, so thank you very much!

Enjoy your meal out tonight. Sounds like you have a good plan. These days I tend to drive (much to my Husband's delight) and avoid the calories in the alcohol.

I am sure you will be sensible! Good luck but enjoy.

Bispers.

Hi Bispers,

Thankfully I was sensible! Starter was Asparagus with a poached egg and Parmesan shavings; Main was a Lemon Sole with Prawns and cheesy sauce with fresh vegetables and new potatoes; and dessert was a small Creme Brulee with berries on top. Once small glass of wine and a coffee with chocolate mint - I was very pleased to have managed to choose sensibly.

Having a prawn stir-fry tonight, so that should be low calorie and healthy.

Hope you enjoy your sardines in tomato sauce on toast - I enjoyed mine, it was lovely!

Hi Lowcal

I seem to have got lost finding this post this week. I weighed in with you last Monday at 81KG and on Monday this week weighed in AT 80.1. So nearly 2lbs lost. Well done you too. It has been very hard work to lose the 2 lbs and I have been to the gym 4x last week. I have a night out this week so I will have to use my willpower but otherwise hoping for another 1-2lbs this week. Good luck to you and all others and catch you up for weigh in next week. xx

Hi Quinn,

That's a great weight loss and very well done to achieve it - 4 times at the gym last week is definitely dedication - hope you enjoyed your gym sessions. I've not made it to the gym once this week, but I have been for walks most days, so I'm happy about that. I must try to get to the gym next week - I don't think I'm going to manage it until next week.

Hope you enjoy your night out.

Catch up with you next week for the weigh-in. Good luck!

Lowcal :-)
