I know I'm writing this on Sunday evening, but I'm unable to get to the internet tomorrow morning, and wanted to set up my Monday weigh-in post, so that anyone who normally joins this weigh-in could do so! I am also unable to get to my scales till Tuesday morning, so I will be joining this weigh-in a day late.
I am not looking forward to weighing in, as I am away this weekend and I have been eating more than I normally would. But I will still weigh-in, as soon as I can access my scales, and I'll join in then.
In the meantime, please do join me for this Monday weigh-in. I hope you've had a good week!

Hi Lowcal, I hope you've had a good time this weekend. After my rubbish first day last Monday, the rest of the week has been fine, mostly due to the novelty of using myfitnesspal for the first time - lost 4lbs! And thank you for your support last week.
Into my third week now. Had a 1lb gain this weekend. Though I have had a couple of heavy lunches this week so not too bad! I'm going to start the couch to 5k tomorrow on top of my normal stuff that I do.
Really glad to hear you've had a good week, and it's great to hear you've lost 4 pounds! Really well done! Great to hear that you enjoyed using the myfitnesspal - I've never used that one, but so many people mention it as being a good way to track things.
I had a lovely weekend thanks - not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow morning, but I will do so. It's always good to keep monitoring and see what damage I've done! Hopefully not too much!
I gained 4.4 pounds, but I did overeat quite a lot, so was expecting something like that. I am however hopeful that I will lose most of that this week.
Good luck with your Couch to 5k - I think running is great exercise.
Hello everyone, I checked in with my gp this week asking about a calorie allowance as I am breast feeding. He has recommended a 1750 a day calorie limit which I have stuck to and am proud to announce I have lost 2lbs! No change to measurements although I did lose inches last week!
Very happy, I hope everyone finds success this week! X
Really glad to hear your GP has given you advice regarding your calorie allowance, and well done for sticking to that amount. It's obviously paid off, and many congratulations on losing 2 pounds. Brilliant! I remember you'd lost several inches last week as well.
Hi lowcal so far so good....... Looking forward to the week ahead and weighing in next week..... Good luck tomorrow x
Morning everyone! I had a tummy bug all week, so thought I may have lost weight due to this.......however, there was no change on the scales or in my measurements Here's to a new week, with great results all round for us all
Sorry to hear you've had a tummy bug all week, that must have been awful. Hope you're feeling better now, and that you have a healthy week with some weight loss to follow next week!
Hi all - no movement for me at all this week - drat. But looking on the bright side, at least I didn't gain! My plan this week is to try to measure more of what I eat, and to drink more water. Have a lovely sunny week everyone.
Thanks for the encouraging words Cleggie34 and Lowcal. With your help I'm learning to be pragmatic and not flip out during this plateau. Good luck to both of you for the week ahead. One day at a time will eventually bring results.
Morning peps ive weighed in put on 2lb this week which im ok with as it was my birthday weekend and I expected it. Time to knuckle down again. Well done everyone x
Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoyed your Birthday celebrations. It's very normal to gain weight on occasions like that. You've not gained very much, and I am sure it will soon come off again.
Hello Lowcal and everyone - I'm just joining you all today - thought I better had as I have a cold and I always feel hungry when I have one! I appreciate you setting up this support group as it's just what I need. I have lots of weight to lose but am looking at it 7lbs at a time. I'm on the 1400 cals and so far have lost my first 7lbs over the past few weeks. just can't get motivated to exercise every day
A warm welcome to you! Hope you get better from your cold soon. It's good to set yourself an achievable goal, as you've done. Brilliant that you've already lost 7 pounds already. I never manage to exercise every day, but try to do so between 5 and 6 days per week if I can. Just keep doing what you can, and you're motivation levels may grow as a result.
Good luck for this week and hope you have a good week.
My weight - according to the daily graph that I keep - is still progressing in the right direction, albeit very slowly. I appear to have lost 7 ounces since last Monday. I don't mind that. It's going in the right direction.
I'm very pleased that I have my husband back home again safe and sound. He's meant to take antibiotics for a further 3 weeks then see his consultant again. However, he blames the antibiotics for making him feel very, very dizzy and unsteady. He's now decided to stop all the antibiotics and see how it goes.
We've just had bacon for breakfast, I had a tomato, he had a fried egg.
Congratulations on losing 7 ounces since last Monday. That's great. Most importantly, it's great that your husband is back home with you again. Hope you've had a good day today. Sorry to hear he's not been feeling very well on the antibiotics. Shouldn't he consult with someone about his decision to stop his antibiotics, as I know they always stress so much that the full course should always be taken?
Hope you are having a good evening, and hope he's feeling a bit better.
Thank you for the good wishes. Well, we finally got him sorted out. He wouldn't listen to me notwithstanding my nursing background, but he talked to his stepdaughter (it was her birthday) - she's a very very well-qualified nurse and he listened to her. She advised him to phone the GP - well, I'd told him the same thing but he didn't listen - and he did phone, talked to one of the GPs and then went to see him in the evening. He's been prescribed something for the dizziness, the kind of thing prescribed for travel-sickness, needs to take both types of antibiotics (which the hospital didn't make clear) because the huge worry is that there will be a long-standing infection inside the bone. So, that's what we're doing. We have excellent GPs - I was surprised that one of them found time to take a phone call from him on a Monday morning which is usually their busiest. He's still feeling a bit dizzy but much better than he was, and had a better night's sleep. This morning we've had eggy-onion which is one of our favourite breakfasts - chopped onion softened in a little oil and then combined with 2 eggs scrambled. It will keep us going for ages.
I'm so glad that you've got things sorted out. Sounds like he's back on track and hopefully the infection will be sorted out with the antibiotics. Great that your GPs are so good. Your breakfast sounds delicious!
I have a feeling I've put on weight, as I have really over-eaten this weekend! The scales will give the truth tomorrow, and I'll be here to weigh-in in the morning. Good luck with your weigh-in tomorrow - will look forward to 'seeing' you then! Good luck!
Morning everyone, thanks for setting this thread up,it's just what I need to keep me motivated.Today is my first day and I am feeling extremely motivated.I've been to the gym this morning and I'm feeling good because I am finally taking control of a situation that has been troubling me for a long time.My weight this morning is 13 stone
Welcome to you! It sounds like you're feeling really motivated and it's great that you went to the gym this morning - taking control of a situation can give lots of positives, and I'm glad that you've been able to take control of a situation that has troubled you for a long time.
Hope you have a great week, and hopefully you'll be below the 13 stone mark by next Monday!
My first weigh in this morning - 16 stone. It's the heaviest I have ever been in my life and really depresses me, time to get back to 'normal' weight. Hopefully the scales will show an improvement next week - good luck all and thanks for this thread
Welcome to you. Really glad you have joined us. Wishing you a very good first week. The NHS website has a good 12 week plan for weight loss. Not sure if you're following that, or doing something else, but good luck with your goals, and hope you'll join us again next Monday to share your experiences.
My first day today . Weighed myself this morning now 10 stone . I am 5ft 1in so would like to lose another stone in time for my son wedding this August . Any advice would be appreciated x
A warm welcome to you. It's great that your son is getting married in August, and it will give you a great incentive to lose weight for that occasion. The NHS website has a 12 week plan - it has lots of advice on helping you to lose weight sensibly. Most people combine healthy eating with doing regular exercise, and you can read about people's experiences in these threads (both the posts and the questions sections in this site).
Well done! Any sensible weight loss plan will work if you stick at it. Just forget about the snacks and sweet treats that beset so many people! Sugar is the big problem - it's in so many things. Our friends across the pond are just beginning to wake up to this - I read a recent report from the US about it. We're also going to a wedding in August, and I don't know really why us, because we only know the groom very slightly and have never met the bride. Still, a wedding is a wedding, and I have a nice creamy silky jacket to wear that a bought in Debenhams sale about 3 years ago and have never had an occasion to wear.
OK ... so I am new to this forum, and to this site and plan. Feel a massive need to become less massive Weighed myself this morning, 14st 5lbs. That was a bit of a shock, and then the NHS site recommended I lose five stone to get into the middle of the healthy weight range. GULP!! that sounds like an awful lot. A long road ahead! I like the idea that there are lots of people taking the steps beside me though ..... anyone else got five stone to lose?
Hi maggiemay14. 5 stone does sound daunting when you look at it in one big chunk. I had that much to lose at the beginning, but now I've only got 26lbs left before I reach my healthy target. I've been using the NHS 12 week plan, plus myfitnessapp on a daily basis. Also been using static bike a couple of times a week at home - it's great to use whilst watching tv as you don't realise you have been working out. You will find many people with good advice on here - my advice would be to listen to them and ignore the cranks who try to fob you off with "quick fix diets." The truth is, you didn't put 5 stone on quickly, so you are most definitely not going to lose it quickly either. Slow and steady is the best way. Good luck, and please keep in touch so we can all be encouraged and encourage you too!
Welcome! Originally I was 5 stone heavier than I am now, so I have definitely been travelling that long road - but having regular goals and utilising all the support available has kept me motivated and helped me to succeed so far. I still have another stone that I would like to lose.
Just keep focused and use the support available and aim for between 1 and 2 pound loss per week - it's a healthy amount to lose. You'll probably lose more in the first week.
Great to see you! Lovely to hear you've had a nice holiday in Egypt with your boyfriend. Sounds like you both had a great time. I can imagine the food was delicious!
Will you be weighing in? I am going to weigh-in tomorrow, as I need to access my scales in the morning. I was away for the weekend and didn't get back till this afternoon.
Well, after my long weekend away, and much over-eating to excess, I have weighed in. I stand before you as a reluctant weigher - last Monday I weighed 13 stone 9.4 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 13.8 pounds. Therefore I have gained 4.4 pounds!
I am hoping to get back on track as of today, and hope that the excess will come off relatively quickly. That is my hope.
Will be striving to lose that extra weight as soon as possible!
Hope you are all having a great day and a good week so far.
Hi Lowcal, these gains will come up every now again due to holidays and things. Just get straight back into and don't be discouraged! I also had again this week of 1lb. I've had a couple of lunches so to be expected. I'm going to up my exercise this week. So here's to a more successful week for us all rebsberry
Thanks for your encouragement, it is much appreciated! Yes, let's look forward to a more successful week ahead for us all - good luck with your plans to up your exercise.
Hi Lowcal, glad you are still under,14, not for me 11.2 for me this morning after eating and drinking my, way through Prague, even DH put on 2lb despite running a marathon! Back on track though just about to munch my way thru salad before bed, have a good week girls
Yes, I am relieved to still be under 14 stone (only just!).
Glad to hear you had a great time in Prague. You'll soon get that extra weight off - glad to hear you're back on track already. Hope that salad was tasty!
Day late for the weigh in, great idea Lowcal ! Weighed myself yesterday the 12th and I am 12st bang on. Using the exercise podcasts to try and up my metabolic rate, also took measurements, only going to go public with my waist, which is a massive 36''. Looking forward to next weeks weigh in. Good going all, and don't give up.
Welcome to you! Great that you are using the exercise podcasts - hope you are enjoying them. It's nice to take measurements, because you can see progress as you go along. I usually take my measurements once a month.
Hope you have a great week, and 'see' you next week at the weigh-in.
Lowcal
Hi Jane here. I weighed myself yesterday 13st 10lb, please may ijoin in with you?
Yes, please do join us, you are most welcome. I hope that you have a great week and will look forward to seeing you again next week for the weigh-in. Good luck!
After such a good week last week I have stayed the same this week, which is actually kind of a miracle as it's my birthday this week and the meals out started at the weekend. My family and friends don't know i'm on a diet so while I have been able to pre-plan the calories to a certain extent I haven't been getting the exercise. There are more birthday meals this week and i'm off work so my routine is messed up so if I stay the next week i'll be so happy
Good luck with losing your weekend weight, glad you had a good time
Firstly, a very Happy Birthday to you, hope you have a great time on the day, and that you enjoy all the Birthday celebration meals. Well done for maintaining your weight and hope you have a great week.
I did enjoy my weekend, so I don't regret it. But I do regret how quickly weight can go on sometimes. I just hope it does come off quickly again. I am certainly 'back on track' again today - we had a healthy dinner this evening (fish with lots of vegetables and a jacket potato).
