diagnosed - what happens now?

I was a late developer. I didn’t get a period till I was 15, and when I did they were never regular. I was anorexic so my periods went pretty much forever. Then I got addicted to alcohol and my periods went again and then when I got clean and ate normally, my periods returned. Then I was having to move from Spain to England which was a very stressful time in my life and I didn’t get a period for 6 months, and when it did eventually come it was beyond painful with a huge clot! I decided to go on the pill and stayed on it for a decade.

The pill I now know kept giving me UTIs, and I was always being dished out antibiotics by doctors. I went Cyprus and this huge pain in my side happened and when he wanted to do an ultrasound he said my Fallopian tube has been blocked by a yeast infection from the tablets. Anyway he told me my ovaries looked a bit small where I’m on the pill and haven’t developed but said everything looks fine. No cysts, nothing, but said get off the pill and let your body develop, which I did.

Came off in September last year and period from October - November was beautiful. Both on time, never painful and ovulation. December lost my flat as landlord was selling so another stressful time, and my period went again. I’ve had a period 4 times this year and 2 of those have lasted 10 days. I don’t suffer with acne, excessive hair growth (other than some basic peach fuzz), pain, or anything like that. It’s just my periods that are a problem and we want to get pregnant now so it’s a big deal.

Went for blood test for hormones everything was absolutely normal except for testosterone which was 2.6. Got another testosterone blood test in a few weeks and an ultrasound.

My question is, if I do get diagnosed with PCOS, what happens now? I’ve gone completely keto and exercising as I’ve been emotionally eating and drinking since December coping with stress and finally put a stop to that since the results. See if that makes a difference.

When I got called about my test levels, I cried so much. My mum was like oh you know you’ll need a Caesarian if you fall pregnant cause your baby will be too abnormally big from your test levels and it’ll be really hard for you to fall pregnant. Just really upset me and now I just feel like I’ll be infertile.

if anyone has any success stories too I’d appreciate

Have a hug and a smile. Getting some checks done seems helpful, you will get professional input and help, try not to worry. Someone once laughed with me, “They spend all this time warning and educating about how not to get pregnant, no one tells you getting pregnant can actually take time!’

If a previous scan did not show cysts on your ovaries, such could be seen as suggesting you do not have PolyCysticOvaries. But they may not have been looking for it. If you have PCOS lots of us have had children though some medical assistance may help. I have high testosterone but both my babes were slightly on the small size, natural easy birth, no complications.

I would check what your normal weight range is for your height. I was asked to put on weight to aid with conception. A errr ‘normal’ weight also often helps with menstrual cycle.

In all the circumstances have you thought of trying something that might help you relax. Go for what appeals to you, be kind to yourself and enjoy some happiness. I also suggest giving yoga a try. Yoga, especially the meditation section, could be a great move. Yoga also has great exercises to help you during pregnancy and delivery.

Wishing you the very best.
