If anyone could answer this would be great. Can you have heavy prolonged periods, clotting and too frequent periods with pcos? You just tend to read that periods are irregular. Can it cause them to be irregular and then never stop? Sorry its the second post i have done but i am one desperate mum and just want to help my daughter

Pcos and over mensturating
I'm no expert, but having also read a lot recently about PCOS, it seems that Endometriosis often goes alongside it. These symptoms to me seem more typical of Endometriosis. Have the doctors not offered any help or testing? Surely it is not good for her to have endless periods!
She have a smear 3 weeks ago and we are awaiting the results. At the time the doctor said everything looked ok but there was some internal thrush. We have no clue where that has come from and can only put it down to stress. A blood test was done and that came back all clear. Her skin has flared up again recently and she is so tired all the time. She does go to the gym 3 times a week though to try with the weight gain
I was diagnosed at 15 with PCOS I am 44 now and the main problem I had was heavy prolonged periods. I was tried on various contraceptive pills but they never really agreed with me, eventually I had the mirena coil and that was really effective. Hope this helps
Thank you so much. You dont realise how helpful it is. I am so worried about her and this group is a lifeline it really is
I understand how worried you are as I remember my own Mum being the same way.
Pcos is a hormonal imbalance your hormones control everything about your body and can I guess effect periods in differing ways.
My best advice to anyone is go and see a good endocrinologist, I paid privately after years of suffering with all the horrible symptoms and it was the best thing I have ever done.
I now feel well after a long time of trying to cope with it all.
Good luck
We are the unknown, huge variety in period issues, some have few, some have regular ish ones and some bleed constantly - you can get medication to stop a period. I would ask to be referred to an endocrinologist and have a look at the NICE guidelines so you know what to expect with pcos and the NHS so they cannot fob you off.
