For once this is not a complaint about getting blood test results. I went to our surgery with my husband Tuesday morning to get a blood test for him and to make sure the nurse knew that she had to add T3 to the list as the computer had not allowed it (GP's instructions). I also wanted to ask the nurse if she could print off the results for me so that I could study them before having a telephonic appointment with GP. 24 hours later the nurse called me at home to say the results were in and she had printed them off and I could go and collect them. Am I lucky or wot? Could it be my air of authority or my charming smile? Oh, and the T3 was done as well as lots of other odds and ends.
It makes me so cross when I see how difficult it is for most people on here to get their blood results printed off and some even have to pay!
I think down here in the Southeast we get better treatment in some ways and that is not fair.
As far as knowledgeable GPs are concerned I don't think we are any better off down here. The first time I asked about having NDT the doctor said "What's that, I'll have to ask my superior". Of course the answer was no so I didn't bother pursuing it and have been successfully self treating since but hubby has Amiodarone induced hypothyroidism and a mechanical heart valve so I don't want to be responsible for killing him off myself but will let our GPs do it for me. He is on Thyroxine and has been for the past two or three years but if I hadn't gradually upped his dosage of 25mcgs he would still be a walking zombie. I've certainly seen a great improvement in him and would really love him to have NDT but with the mechanical heart valve and his non cooperation I think it better he stays on T4 only.
End of story....Val
