Amiodarone

I eventually met my cardiologist in September 2024 and he explained that I had an arrhythmia and he was going to put me on Amiodarone. He explained it was a medication of last resort and the side effects can be serious.

Hi all. I’m 57, diagnosed with AF 10 years ago. Well controlled on Bisoprolol for 8 years then Flecainide for 2 years but then episodes increased. Was on Flecainide 50mg twice a day and 1.25mg Bisoprolol. Due to more frequent episodes Flecainide increased to 100mg twice a day and 1.25mg Bisoprolol.

This has been mentioned to me by several members of cardiology team as being the only option now. Can't have ablation as recent right coronary artery stent. When they offer it they immediately launch into a long list of potential adverse effects, and my google searches do not fill me with confidence

Hello all, Dr. has switched me from Sotalol to Amiodarone 200mg daily. So I was wondering how members here take their Amiodarone. Mornings, midday or evenings? On an empty or full stomach? Together with other meds or no other meds? Thanks!

My cardiologist has suggested Amiodarone as a pup after I got side effects from flec . Has anyone any experience of this? Thanks

My cardiologist has come up with Amiodarone as a pip after Flec caused side effects . Does anyone have any experience of this ? The conversation has been letter based, haven’t had a proper conversation where I had the opportunity to ask questions.

😊 His AF is most certainly his most bothersome concern, and he has been advised to take amiodarone. He is quite skeptical about it, as his specialist prescribed it during a very rushed and hasty 10 minute consultation.

After Bisoprolol and Flecainide stopped working I was prescribed Amiodarone last September initially on a loading dose of 3 x 200. This was reduced to 1 x 200 then raised to 2 x 200 when lower dose failed. My question is: do people on Amiodarone have regular blood checks?

My cardiologist prescribed amiodrone 200mg 3 times a day for a week ,then once a day .There seems to be quite a few side effects mentioned online though up to now I'm OK, half way through the 3 a day course Has anyone had experience with this medication

Is it common practice for cardioversion patients to be treated with amiodarone both prior to and after being zapped.If so, how much is usually prescribed and for how long. Best wishes to all

following some kind of pacemaker, I was given these drugs and have now what I believe to be side effects, dizziness and off balance. Also having sleep problems, either sleeping for 10 hours or not at all.Also regular screaming nightmares.Has anyone experienced this.

He has been prescribed Amiodarone and asked me if I've been on that medication following my HA in 2020. He's interested in what people have experienced as side effects. I can't advise him because I've not been on that drug. Can anyone in our community help, please? Thanks.

Following an upgrade to my pacemaker,I was given new medication - carvedilol and amiodarone. Has anyone suffered with dizziness And off balance problems.

Back on oral amiodarone after 30 hours of IV. Feeling exhausted, I'm only four weeks post ablation so there's all that, than a marathon running HR for 29 hours and very little sleep. Ironically the fourth ablation was to get me off amiodarone and I was dead against having it done...

On this site I’ve read so many posts about taking Flecanide and other drugs as a PIP and wondered why Amiodarone was chosen as it’s not a nice drug .

I paid to see a cardiologist who put me on Amiodarone and I felt anxious since being on it. Anyone felt the same. cardiologist said it was stress. I did nearly die.

Does anyone have experience with being placed on amiodarone prior to ablation and then being weaned off post-ablation? I know that you just don't stop it cold...but not sure when / how this usually is done.
