Some help interpreting these please and do I need to do anything

I come from a long line of females with Hashi’s and last year my dad was diagnosed as hypo but doesn’t have Hashi’s. Mum nags me to test every now and then so I comply. There’s not a lot to say except I’m 38 and well, as far as I can tell. I have to watch my weight and manage this by ensuring I eat a plentiful but good diet that includes all food groups. I’m not on thyroid replacement and the only supplements I take are evening primrose oil and myo inositol for occasional breast tenderness and feelings of rage for one day during menstruation. These have both helped

I’ve occasionally dabbled in supplements, again because my mum has suggested it and the slight improvements in B12 and folate in 2023 were due to a B complex at that time. The good level of Vit D in 2020 was after supplementing for a while. I can’t say I felt any different

April 2025

TSH 2.62 (0.351-5.5) 44.07%

FT4 12.4 (11.91- 21.6) 5.06

FT3 4.5 (3.11-6.8) 37.67%

All antibodies negative (very low)

No core nutrients to report

2023

TSH 1.76 (0.35-5.5) 27.38%

FT4 12.7 (20.5-21) 20.95%

FT3 4.4 (3.5-6.5) 30%

Ferritin 34.7 (10-291) 8.79%

B12 533 (2.11-911) 46% supplementing

Folate 9.14 > 4.12

Vit D 57.3

2020

TSH 2.52 (0.35-5.5) 42.14%

FT4 14.1 (10.5-21) 34.29%

No FT3

Ferritin 19.8 (10-291) 3.4%

B12 359 (211-911) 21.14%

Folate 13.35 > 5.38

Vit D 74.5 supplementing

All testing as per protocol advised on the forum.

I just want objective thoughts please. My mum is certain my thyroid levels are poor and I have a problem on its way but she has a tendency to worry.

Thank you.

Well, I agree with your mum. Your thyroid is struggling. Your TSH is too high and your FT4 is too low. What's more, your FT3 is higher in range than your FT4 and that's a pretty sure sign of a failing thyroid.

Why did you stop supplementing your Bs? Your levels have probably fallen again. And whether or not you felt any better, having a B12 as low as it was in 2020 could lead to serious, irreversible neurological damage.

You really should listen to your mum.

Thank you.

I trailed off taking them because no difference felt.

So my gland is failing. What are your thoughts about what to do? I know a doctor would say all is normal.

Yes, they would, because they don't know the signs of thyroid failure. If everything is in-range it has to be good for them.

There's not much you can do at the moment, except make sure your nutrients are all optimal.
