U.S. doctor tomorrow continued

I went to the doctor. It didn't go good. Falling in Reverse was so kind to give me a list of things I needed tested but the doctor wouldn't test not one of them except for the thyroid panel. Which is of course TSH, T3 T4. She said I could pay for it myself. I told her I don't have any money. She told me that she'd lose her license if she tested something that I didn't need tested? Was she lying? Was she rude yeah we were both trying to be cordial but we don't like each other haha. So what are you going to do if my TSH is suppressed but the other numbers are in the right spot oh then I'll go by there symptoms. I went to the blood place and they wouldn't let me add on the list that Falling in Reverse gave me they said a doctor has to order it. I wanted to see how much it would be. I've decided I'm never going back there again. And I'm not getting my blood tested I went without thyroid medicine for two days I looked so bad. My friend said you look so tired why don't you take a day off. I wasn't getting along with people who got on my nerves either. Anyway I love all of you thank you for the people who answered my post! I really truly appreciate you! EasyOh and when I was leaving I asked her well will you think about it adding those things to my blood test and she said I don't want to talk about it! She said to me when I was leaving oh well if you get your blood tested at least you'll know your kidneys and your liver are going well.

My argument with her was I'm 64 years old and I don't know if I have Hashimoto's or regular thyroid disease. And you know what she said? We treat them the same I'm like okay whatever I'm so sick of people I'm sick of waiting for 2 years and getting nothing out of it and Gosh that was a mistake not to take my medicine. I'm not going to do it again. Anyway, sad story right? I guess everybody's got that story unless you got money. Peace be with you.

Hi Elissa, I tried to reply the other night to you in the 1st post but the computer system for this forum wouldn't let me even push the like button for your reply. I needed you guys and couldn't even reach out for support. I truly felt like I had been abused the next morning by the doctor. Seems they are over loaded n maybe believe they know more than we! I said, i need to know my B12p, D3, ferritin and antibodies. I'm on a forum and women have gotten well. My friend said doctors think they've trained all these years n some resent us going outside n finding answers. I really don't know because I cannot go into the mind of a doctor. Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you're well! ☺ Easy

Have you taken into account that the laws surrounding blood tests are different in the USA - even from one state to another?

I do not know where Easylover lives and whether this is an issue for her. But it is inappropriate to assert that it is possible when it might not be.

And, if she cannot afford testing, she might well not be able to afford to purchase desiccated thyroid (NDT) without prescription. Which would be the only option if she does not see a doctor with prescribing rights.

I'm doing good. It's ok helvella. I know you care. I just am muddling my way through all this. I am entitled to know if I have Hosimotos or just regular thyroid disease. I agree w you about testing from state to state...never thought of it that way. I do purchase Thyroid-S from Thailand. I'm finally well until I didn't take it for the testing I thought I was getting from the doctor. It screwed me just 2 days without it. As I age, I become more sensitive to everything. US allows their citizens who are on government medical to go without teeth n proper medical care. It took 6 n half yrs and 9 dentists later to find one who'd give me what I want. I just have to search n not give up to find a doctor to give me what i want. I will continue my journey w Thyroid-S. No doctor will bully me and except me to kiss their you know what because I'll just walk away. I deserve respect. I'm a human being with a lot of knowledge from this forum n books. They dont ike that. Peace helvella, thank you, Easy

Hi Easy ❤️

helvella is indeed correct. Since you live in California you would never know, but it’s true that more than half of states give patients the right to get blood tests without a doctor.

As it turns out California (along with NY and NJ) are the worst!! It’s the law in those states that regular people must have a doctor’s prescription for a blood test.

I take it you’re on Medicare?

I’m on private insurance through my job, so not fully knowledgeable about Medicare. I think before you waste your energy on doctor visits, have you researched Medicare regulations for hypo treatment? As with the NHS, you should just learn what they are not allowed to do based on the written policies. For example, there is virtually no way you will get a blood test in California unless you have a doctor prescription. Labs are right in refusing as it’s against the law for them. There are mail order blood test companies in the US, but they generally won’t mail to California.

Thanks California!!

So what’s your latest goal? Are you trying to just get a blood test? Are you trying to get your meds on insurance? Are you trying to get them cheaper?

Not exactly. I am ok with paying for thyroid-s. Oh and thank you for explaining all that. I'm like a bull in a China shop. Anyway, I don't know anymore. I'll investigate the things you suggest. I have like dif issues with my body I want to address. I really didn't care about the thyroid labs because the clinic stresses me out when it comes to anything w my thyroid! I wanted pain relief in my knees. Left neck n shoulder from a car accident, my wrists. Anyway, I don't want it from that doctor. She would address it. I told her I'm sure I don't have osteoporosis....I don't dig her trip. Youre right but we were like two rams locking horns. I said, you care more about what you want then what I want. I said at the very close as she's walking to her office down the hall...nice meeting you. The way she said nice meeting you too didn't chime. All good. Investigate thank you, easy does it Easy! Haha

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Well I’m impressed at your ability to source NDT in this country. Glad it’s working out for you, I wouldn’t even know where to begin with that.

I know that tons of decent doctor practices take Medicare (as my dad is on Medicare). But at 64 you are probably Medicaid.

However it is - keep on keepin on!

We are always here for you!!

In the land of the free, surely no state gives patients the right to get blood tests, only that some wantonly remove/restrict that right?

(Apologies, not getting at you and your reply. :-) )

Sweet irony H. I am so close that I missed the forest through the trees. There are thousands of new regulations out of the US govt every year. The difference between the states is shockingly broad!

...and on behalf of the medical society, I did have a nurse practitioner n her assistant for many yrs who gave me what I wanted. She moved to the coast! That was a little over 2 yrs ago. Those were truly the good old days. And that was actually out of the same clinic that this new doctor is in. I DO NOT BELIEVE HER,THAT SHE WOULD LOOSE HER LICENSE OVER B12! What a coward was to get out of addressing her stuck way of thinking!

very sad 😔
