fed up: I told you about a couple months ago I... - Thyroid UK
fed up
I really feel for you Kowbie, as so many practitioners are ‘slaves to TSH’ and don’t take into account FT4, let alone FT3. When is your next blood test due?
on any dose of T3 your TSH is almost always going to be extremely low or suppressed
Is T3 prescribed by endo
Does GP know that you are taking T3 as well
how much T3 are you taking
What vitamin supplements
Looking at these results from 2 months ago
medichecks test no thyroxine before test and last t3 about 12 hours
Tsh 0.005(0.27-4.2)
T4 17.4 (12-22)
T3 6.2 (3.1-6.8)
Crp 4.51 (0-3)
Ferritin 146 (30-332)
Folate 7.4 (7 -35)
Vit b12 active 119 (37.5-187.5)
Vit d 97.7 (50-250)
Thyroglobulin 20.8 (0-115)
Peroxidase anti 21.1 (0-34)
Folate very low
Are you now taking daily vitamin B complex
Hello slow dragon , no I buy it myself that’s why she made me go for another blood test I had told them last year but it couldn’t have registered with them but you never see the same dr I take 35/1/2 t3 was taking 150 thyroxine but then went up to 175 but dr didn’t know so I did drop 25 thyroxine off had bloods done but they now want me to have another one , I am on b complex and also take folate so don’t know why it’s so low , I take vit d3 k2 selenium magnesium, hope your well
I take 35/1/2 t3
Sorry don’t know what dose that is
35mcg ?
Most people adding T3 alongside Levo find they need low dose ….eg 3 x 5mcg or even 3 x 2.5mcg daily
Are you taking Tiromel.
They are 25 s and I take 1 and then break the other 1 in half
yes they are tiromel
Am I doing it wrong
No
But GP will be TSH obsessed and just want to continue to reduce levothyroxine
You quite likely need to either self source extra levothyroxine or ideally see a T3 friendly endocrinologist
Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3
Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations so that might eventually transfer to getting T3 on NHS
Print these off and drop them into the surgery. No need to say why:-

Hope they read them and learn!
Thankyou for these , I did send a load of information before to the surgery about the thyroid but nothing came of it , who ever I speak with , as I never seem to get the same dr has told me they don’t take any notice of t3 just makes me mad as why the hell is it there then thanks again serenfach
Doctor, I am puzzled - you test diabetics by looking at their levels of hormone in their blood, but you dont look at the main active hormone in someone with thyroid problems in their blood, but test the pituitary. Why is this?
Just ignoring T3 is just ignorant. Makes me mad too!
just another one who consistently gets TSH in 0.02-0.03 range, and gets GPs ( via their receptionists) to tell me to reduce levo.dose by 25 mcg. I have occasionally been forced to do it ( though do have a private prescription for T3 from an endo.they do know about). All they see is the TSH coming back c.0.02 but I can see huge drops in Frees on my private blood tests, and surprise surprise receptionist once again telling me to reduce levo.again! I think this closely mirrors the definition of madness…I’d soon be on zero levo. , with continuing suppressed TSH, and a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism rather than true overt hypothyroidism!
