I so fed up.

March TSH 1.19

July TSH 1.54

Had drs phone appointment today, she said I'm depressed but she'll do my TSH again.

I don't want to go on anti depressants as I've been on 6 diffrent ones and they don't work for me.

Did you manage to follow the advice given a couple of months ago regarding tests for Iron - Ferritin - Folate - B12 - VitD ? Also it was mentioned on the thread that the TSH tells you very little.

These are the tests you need..... TSH - FT4 - FT3 - Anti-TPO - Anti-Tg - for the thyroid. ALSO -the ones mentioned above.

Could you have them done privately ? - If your GP is not being co-operative..... Low B12 can mimic Hypothyroidism....

Hope you soon feel better....

Dr said b12 was fine ( around 700)

Full blood count fine

Asked about vitD today and said NHS won't find it so just go buy some if I think it's that.

They won't do t4 anymore and been refused t3

Anti bodies was done a couple of years ago.

I don't think I can afford to have it done privetly

Clmartin, B12 >700 is fine.

NHS do fund vitD blood tests. Put your request in writing to your GP and ask for it to be put on your medical file. If you are vitD deficient NHS provides loading doses of vitD3 and maintenance doses until you are in the replete range 75-200. If you are in the inadequate range 25-50 most GPs prescribe until you are >75.

Most in the UK should supplement 2,000iu vitD3 daily just to maintain levels during Oct-Apr when ultraviolet levels are low. Toxicity is rare when supplementing <8,000iu daily.

I've asked 3 times for vitD test. Last Dr said it wasn't needed but tested for calcium?

I'll have to look into private testing.

I brouhgt some boots vitD but never took any.

How do I know if it's the right ones?

Clmartin, City Assays do a private vitD test. I think it's gone up to £28 and Blue Horizon and Genova do private FT4 and FT3 tests thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

VitD3 is the supplement required and it should be taken with food to aid absorption or you can buy sprays.

Also don't forget secondary/central hypo which presents with low/normal TSH and low T4 and T3 (did they test T4 and T3 - NO! So your GP can't know that you aren't hypo). Depression is a symptom of low T3 - it is a symptom of something, not a disease in its own right - what blood test show that you are "depressed"?

My blood form said it was testing TFT?

What is that?

Clmartin, Thyroid Function Test ie TSH, FT4 and FT3. Sometimes the labs only test FT3 if TSH is suppressed.
