Help with test results please

Hi. Need help with my latest results please. Thank you. Not on thyroid meds. Was on 25mg Levothyroxine, but was taken off them because GP only tested TSH and thought it was okay. I had stopped them for 5 weeks at least before taking this test. I supplement Heme Iron. What baffles me, as a side note, is that my Ferritin was in 50s from NHS test just about 2 weeks prior to this (Medichecks)

TSH: 0.808mIu/l 0.27 - 4.2 R

Free T3 : 4.2pmol. 3.1 - 6.8 R

Free T4: 15.8pmol. 12 - 22 R

Thyroglobulin: 19.3kiu. 0-115R

Thyroid Peroxidase: 13.3kiu. 0-34R

CRP HS: 0.851mgdl. <3 R

Ferritin: 114ugl. : 30-207R

Folate Serum: 22.3nmol. >7R

Active B12: 150pmol >37.5 R

Vitamin D : 125nmol. 50-250 R

Thank you

What time of day was this test taken?

TSH is OK but FT4 only 38% through range, FT3 30% through range.

How do you feel?

What was your TSH on 25mcgs Levo?

Vitamins looking good, well done.

Thank you! Took it at about 9.45am fasted. Didn't test TSH on Levothyroxine I was taken off it before 6 week s. I originally felt a lot better on it but felt terrible around Week 4/5. Didn't test until now.

I feel tired, heavy, brain fogged, gained even more weight, only sleep 4hrs every night

25mcgs Levo often does make people feel worse as its too lower dose to replace what your own thyroid was originally putting out.

Antibodies are negative but its worth retesting as may change. Also some people with Hashis never have positive antibodies.

Recommend retesting every 3-4 months to keep an eye on things and keep taking the supplements.

Do you know your TSH before you started Levo, is there a reason why you only started on 25mcgs, which is a child's dose? Do you have a history of heart problems or are you over 65? It seems strange to me that your GP would take you off it as Levo is normally taken indefinitely.

25mcg of Levo seems to cause more problems than it solves as it shuts down your own thyroid production ( it doesnt top it up as many medics seem to believe). But 25mcgs isnt enough to make you feel well. We hear a lot of people experience issues on this dose.

He only agreed to give it to me as a trial because of my symptoms. He says my TSH is normal. I am 46 with no history of heart problems

This sounds familiar to me.

I was also put on only 25mcg levo. Which I accepted in the hope they would increase dosage later, but they have now said I’m cured ( well they didn’t say that literally, but they said ‘to reduce or stop dose to allow the natural pituitary/thyroid axis to take over again’ 🤦‍♀️)

I found another GP and she seems more open to continue levo.

But .. what is most familiar to me is your description of initially feeling good on the 25mcg. It made me realise what it’s like feeling ‘normal ‘ and how long ago it was that I’ve felt like that. How easy life is like that!

And after a few weeks, just like you, it started go down hill again till I probably felt worse than before.

I do think we really need to increase our dosage to keep feeling better.

Was it a "trial" for you too? Was your TSH "normal"? That's what my GP called it. A trial run because my TSH is normal according to him and the stupid endocrinologist he called for advice. I still have Levo left but I can't use it because I am afraid of running out or going through the same thing all over again.

I'm sorry to say but it seems to me he's set you upto fail. We've seen this before on the forum. And whilst on Levo your TSH will fall into the normal range, its what it does, but only whilst you take it.

Once you stop then your TSH will usually rise and carry on rising. I dont really understand what his thinking ( if any) is behind this. Especially if you felt better on Levo.

I dont know how you feel about sourcing your own Levo, its not illegal, lots of people purchase medication for personal use. I buy my T3 this way.

Levo is readily available and not expensive. If the NHS wont help you then its either going private or sourcing your own Levo, which is cheaper and means you are in control of your dose.

I have found a way to source my T3. I am scared to take it without guidance. I will see about T4. How do you determine dosage?

If it was something you wanted to look into you could post asking for reliable sources of Levo, by private message only, as per forum guidelines.

Sorry just seeing this after my last post. If anyone has recommendations for sourcing T4 and T3, would appreciate a PM please. Thank you so much Sparklingsunshine

This is my standard note when members post asking for suppliers of hormones/medicines. Some will not apply to this specific post.

If you have not already done so, adding some information to your profile might help and encourage replies. Members are very much more likely to make recommendations if they are convinced you understand what you are asking for, and will use it sensibly.

In particular, if you are not within the UK, please make this clear. Some potential suppliers will only supply specific countries.

Asking for possible sources of supply is allowed.

Always write your own brand new post.

As we can't name suppliers on the forum, any replies must be by Private Messages (also called Chat). This post will be closed to replies to prevent any information being posted here. You might already have requested Private Messages.

Once the post is closed, there can be no further replies on forum. That is why it is best to ask for sources in a separate post. And to make sure to give sufficient details as they cannot be added once the post is closed.

We hope that you get some helpful responses but, if you do not, feel free to post again.

To avoid being scammed by unscrupulous suppliers who we know contact members when requesting suppliers of thyroid meds, you are encouraged to contact a member of the Admin team to see if we have any feedback on any recommendations that you are sent. Please read the post linked to below and don't part with any money until you have checked any supplier information with an admin.

However, admins cannot make any recommendations themselves. This is expressly prohibited so do not ask us to do so.

You will find few, if any, of the potential suppliers accept the best known and most trustworthy forms of payment such as PayPal and credit cards. The major payment companies are very wary of medicine suppliers.
