I didnt mention in previous post that I have had an awful taste in my mouth since I think upping dose of Levothyroxine but might not be related as do have infection in nasal cavity, but after 4 days of 5 day course of antibiotics its still there.
Anyway, will ask for phone appt with GP to discuss thyroid results etc. As all seem to have come back normal is there anything else I can do to help myself (magnesium on order, thank you).
Thank you again for your help.

Results suggest you have room to increase dose to 112.5mcg or possibly 125mcg daily
How much do you weigh in kilo
I would request increase to 125mcg daily……but initially only increase to 112.5mcg
Retest in 8-10 weeks
Vitamin levels could be better
How much vitamin D are you taking
Look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet
Low Folate
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)
are you on strictly gluten free diet and/or dairy free diet
If not get coeliac blood test BEFORE trialing gluten free
Thank you for your very swift reply. Im neither gluten free or dairy free but know I should consider both these. Need to motivate myself into action! Very low mood not helping. I currently take 100mcg Accord (7th week) and according to weight ratio I could increase this. Im struggling to lose weight (1lb lost in 2 weeks following NHS app 1400 cals a day) but unsure if this is just thyroid related.
I will purchase the folate you recommend and also finish off the antibiotics. The infection in my cheek has arrived from nowhere as I dont usually suffer from sinusitis and have not had a cold at all. Referral to hospital may help explain.
Will discuss with GP re levo dose and possible increase and continue to take my supplements.
Your antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances.
Most common by far is gluten.
Dairy is second most common.
A trial of strictly gluten free diet is always worth doing
Only 5% of Hashimoto’s patients test positive for coeliac but a further 81% of Hashimoto’s patients who try gluten free diet find noticeable or significant improvement or find it’s essential
A strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential due to gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and may slowly lower TPO antibodies
While still eating high gluten diet ask GP for coeliac blood test first as per NICE Guidelines
The predominance of Hashimoto thyroiditis represents an interesting finding, since it has been indirectly confirmed by an Italian study, showing that autoimmune thyroid disease is a risk factor for the evolution towards NCGS in a group of patients with minimal duodenal inflammation. On these bases, an autoimmune stigma in NCGS is strongly supported
In summary, whereas it is not yet clear whether a gluten free diet can prevent autoimmune diseases, it is worth mentioning that HT patients with or without CD benefit from a diet low in gluten as far as the progression and the potential disease complications are concerned
Despite the fact that 5-10% of patients have Celiac disease, in my experience and in the experience of many other physicians, at least 80% + of patients with Hashimoto's who go gluten-free notice a reduction in their symptoms almost immediately.
Similarly few months later consider trying dairy free too. Approx 50-60% find dairy free beneficial
With loads of vegan dairy alternatives these days it’s not as difficult as in the past
One day apart and quite different, your new results would suggest you actually could do with a little more T4 but I'd stick with where you are for a bit and get your other levels up whilst fighting the infection
Did finger prick test on 20 June (test taken at 7.30 am, fasted and no levo 24 hours)
Thank you so much. Will continue to improve my vitamins and finish antibiotics. I think that i will prob get a GP telephone appt in 2 weeks or more so will stay on current levo dose for a while yet until I discuss results with GP. Thank you for the link, will definitely read this and also for your advice and time.
Good advice from Slowdragon, I'd agree with dropping the dairy as I noticed a difference within days and it's much easier to do than cutting out gluten to start with 🤗
I wish I could give you some advice. SlowDragon is excellent and experienced. Things only started working slowly for me with liothyronine tbh. I am only just a week out of major surgery after having 10L (about 20lbs) of stage 3 fibrous lipiedema removed from my thighs. My lymph system has just woken up and so I've cut back on all thyroid meds until I know what's what. I think my entire system was blocked by what I was carrying. I have so much fluid leaving my body that I am hopeful my thyroid will be much improved. I have been on an anti- inflammatory pescatarian diet for many years and I think it would be a good start to cut down/eliminate dairy and gluten if you can. Really wish you well
Thank you so much for responding. I now have a gp telephone appt for 2 weeks so will see what they say. Im feeling very rough, as they say and yes I definitely need to try an anti inflammatory diet, just need to motivate myself to crack on with it. You sound as if you have had a very rough time, I wish you a very speedy recovery and hope things continue to improve.
