I have had a thyroid test recently with other blood results. Anyone make sense of them? It’s been a nightmare getting hold of the NHS Endo and the admin team . I’ve posted on here before with previous results and have been reffred to 2 different endos now who siply keep saying that ‘I’m fine and don’t need any meds. I am now trying to see if I can get a 3rd endo. It’s exhausting .
Also, when I sweat eg sports/hot day etc, I get 2 large patches on the pec area through my t shirt. Looks like I am literally lactating. Embarrassing! . It’s really odd, just seems to appear in those specific areas. I wonder if it’s related to the thyroid/Renal results? I am sweating lots after eating too.
Also, my Erectile dysfunction is worse than ever and I have given up on it now and nearly resigned to the possibility of never having a healthy sex life again ,NHS is useless and I can’t afford private. All the docs do is prescribe ciallis. I am thinking it’s thyroid/kidney related too. My second endo has just said ‘eat less sugar’ and everything will be fine. He seems to talk more about diabetes. It’s all so exhausting. Been like this for years now.

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement
A week later add a separate vitamin B Complex
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
Results after fasting, so you hadn’t eaten that morning, had you had water to drink? Your kidney results don’t look too bad, sodium and potassium are neatly in range. Your urea and creatinine are elevated, but if you hadn’t drunk (water) normally before the test they’d be raised due to dehydration. Drinking more will reduce them a bit. They’re used to calculate the eGFR, which yours is 67, with a range of >60. How old are you? eGFR reduces with age, and is generally a bit higher (>90) in younger people. There’s a kidney forum here on HU if you want more information.
Your TSH is over range, your T4 is very low in range. Are these your first thyroid blood tests? TSH can increase randomly, be transient, which is not indicative of reduced thyroid output, so the docs won’t diagnose and prescribe on a single result. You’ll need to wait about 3 months for a repeat test, if your TSH is still raised, then if you’re suffering symptoms of an underactive thyroid then they should prescribe levo, as a trial, to see if it alleviates the symptoms. If it’s your second test, then get the NICE guidelines and go insist a trial of levo.
I have no idea if the sweating is relevant.
In the meantime you need to get your folate and B12 up to good levels, and get your ferritin tested as that can be low also. And there’s nothing about your hbA1C that suggests diabetes.
I was fasting. I do not drink enough water , that's for sure. No, i have had quite a few done and posted them on here. they alays range from 3 to 8.5. Endo keeps saying no need for meds as i am sub clinical. I have asked for a new endo now.
Yes. I started the vits after that post but have not taken them for months inbetween. Are they vital to keep up? Can get expensive. I think i need my iron checking too
Essential with Hashimoto’s to maintain all four vitamins at GOOD levels
vitamin D at least over 80nmol
Ferritin at least over 100
B12 at least over 500
Active B12 over 100
Folate at top of range
Get FULL thyroid and vitamin levels retested
Gather up all your results over time onto a spreadsheet
Then see a thyroid specialist endocrinologist
Roughly where in U.K. are you
Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists
Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
much appreciated. no, i stopped taking the vits. Combo of finance and busy life and possible adhd(being diagnosed now). However, i am drained in mornings after sports and work outs or gardening. Absolutely wiped to point of not being able to walk first thing in morning if i have had a athletic day before or busy garden day. sometimes, i don't even do much and i am wiped. i guess it's the thyroidand vits wreaking havoc. I have asked to be reffred to a new endo.
Vast majority of endocrinologists are diabetic specialists and useless for thyroid

Oh poor you. This is awful. Your results and previous clearly show you are hypothyroid, under a diabetes specialist who hasn’t recognised the signs.
Creatinine & urea raises with inadequate thyroid hormone whilst eGFR decreases. This is due to slowed renal function and research shows a raise in creatinine to be linked to elevated TSH. (I suffered this which reversed when medicated on Levothyroxine. GP was amazed).
Lymphocytes are commonly high in Hashimoto sufferers.
Great advice already given regarding the rest but I will add there is a chance you are suffering stress induced lactation after exercise, as prolactin can raise inline with elevated TRH whether you are male or female. (TRH drives TSH that drives thyroid hormones).
Elevated prolactin will also cause low testosterone and so erectile dysfunction and can raise in response to mental and physical stress, which you have by default with unmanaged hypothyroidism.
Ask your GP to test prolactin first thing in the morning for suspected galactorrhea, as a positive result will add to your cause for medicating Levothyroxine.
Also the four nutrients always mentioned on the forum are vital (Vit D, Vit B12, folate, & iron) but so is selenium and zinc used in the production and conversion of thyroid hormone, and commonly low in hypothyroidism. Ask if your GP will test these also (I was very deficient in zinc).
Thank you for the advice. Yes, he is more of a diabetes specialist i think because he talks alot about diabetes related stuff. I will keep pushing my gp now and start my Vits again and keep them up. I sometimes think they are not vital to take and just procrastinate. I am sure i have ADHD and just going through diagnoses, so, this makes me procrastinate heavily. I will update on here once i get more info.
